Another great experience

Let's be honest. Traveling through Cheap Caribbean is a value oriented trip that may not be a 5 star resort. Our trip to Sunscape was wonderful. We booked the high end club which really didn't offer anything extra. Coupon books were merely discounts off "pay for" options. We didn't use them. Other vacationers came to our "exclusive" pool and were not challenged. American Airlines lost our luggage for 3 days. At least 5 other couples experienced the same. Not the fault of the resort. Now for the good news. I would highly recommend this trip for the sincere care and concern of the employees. All were friendly and accommodating. The restaurants offered a great variety of food and drink, as did the bars. The rooms were "comfortable" and the housekeepers were, again, very accommodating. There is a breakwater just off-shore of the beach which offers truly great snorkeling with a huge variety of fish. (Bring some bread with you) Be sure to see Rosy at the tour desk. She is truly exceptional as well is Kenneth at the Club bar. There is much to do on the island and it's a pleasure to be "liked" by the Curacaos. We didn't experience any disgruntled travelers. Wonderful resort-Wonderful staff! This is our fifth trip through Cheap Caribbean. Have never been disappointed.

Stick with your reservation!

We arrived Thursday evening at round 5pm. After a 1/2 hour at the front desk where they "couldn't find our reservation, which was paid in full months before, they asked to come into the Club area. They told us they didn't have rooms because of mechanical difficulties with the air conditioning and asked if we would spend a couple nights at the Hilton until they were resolved. They told us the Hilton would be all-inclusive like Sunscape and we would have just as good of a time. They also offered us a 3 night free stay at Sunscape if we would accommodate they're request. (FYI We never got the 3 night free voucher upon our return) We agreed but then they didn't have a driver to get us there and asked us to pay our own way via cab and be reimbursed on our return which we were) The Hilton was a good 20 minute ride and upon our arrival were told they were not all-inclusive, that we could eat at one restaurant and one bar for the three nights and that alcohol was not included as well. We were also put in a room that had no ocean view which we had paid for in our package. After calling Cheap Caribbean for help (which was incredible) they came back saying ok base alcohol was covered but nothing premium which was ok with us. The food at the bar was the usual fare and the staff at the bar was awesome. The food at the one restaurant we were allowed to eat in the first two nights was not very good at all and there was only one waitress covering the whole place. It took us over a half hour to sign for the check. The third night we were told we were no longer allowed to eat in the restaurant were direction to a feed yourself choice of what looked like chicken necks, tiny ribs with no meet, white rice and peas and carrots mix. No other choices, no one offering to get us drinks and left on our own. I would not stay at this Hilton again ever and I've been an Honors member for years. Next was day 4 and the return to Sunscape. We were to be picked up at 11 am for our final two night. We were picked up on time and things were great until we arrived at the front desk and told there were still no rooms and it would be several hours till we were in one. After getting pretty upset we were given a room at the club buildings immediately. Why that couldn't happen first I will never know. Now the beach, the pool, the bars and food at Sunscape were all very good, the staff friendly and all would of been great if we had stayed there the whole week in the ocean front room we booked. Our room looked over the pool and was not ocean view though. The last night of our stay the air conditioning crapped out again, there was water on the hotel floor the whole two nights and we could not sleep well in the room whatsoever. We called maintanance who came to the room saw all the water on the floor covered in our towels and played with the air conditioner to no avail and said he would go to the front desk and see about getting us a fan or another room for the night. neither happened. We just suffered through it. The day we left I approached the front desk and asked about our voucher and was told they had no idea and that I should email them for it. Lets just say the whole trip was pretty much ruined and we had 5 nights where nothing went right. Dave Berardinelli

Great vacation, great price!

Our family had a great vacation at the Sunscape resort in Curaçao ! This all-inclusive resort was reasonably priced and included everything ! Plenty of opportunities to win spa money or resort money good for excursions and other resort specialties . The beach and the pools were beautiful and the swim up bars were amazing ! The only bad thing I would have to say about this resort was the lack of Caribbean or livlely music playing during the day and the slow jazzy music playing at night made it kind of boring at night . They need more night life activities going on. Overall this was a beautiful relaxing beachy vacation for all of us!

Hidden gem of the Caribbean!

The water is amazing, great access to beach. Wear water shoes as it's very rocky. Great snorkeling at the resort-recommend the excursion to Klein Curacao. Beach was not overly crowded and the majority of people stayed at the pool-I don't know why though, since the ocean water is crystal clear! There are thermostats in the rooms, and even though it looks like you can adjust them, the temperature never changes. It was hard for me to get comfortable at night-I am hot natured though. Take advantage of the ice cream station-we didn't find out about it until the day before we left. Casino is kinda shady, but a fun way to pass the time. I was surprised at the amount of gluten free options-food was actually really good too-my favorite was the Bluewater Grill. Service was hit or miss. There aren't a lot of things to do on the island if adventure is what you're after-but if you enjoy the beach and water activities as I do, you will love it. Keep in mind this is pretty much a budget resort-not luxury. But a great deal and I had a wonderful time.

What's to Love

Red carpet check-in at Sunscape Curacao while relishing welcome treats like chocolate chip cookies or frozen pops.

Delicious treatments like strawberry hydrating facials and chocolate mani/pedis. Yum.

The luscious body wraps (for those who don't want to be tempted with naughty, sugary treatments).

The casino (adults-only) with over 300 slot machines and games (if you get too sun burned & wanna cool off).

Cool, exercise-y stuff to check out like a rock climbing wall and Sumo wrestling.

You can learn Papiamentu - a language that is mix of Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, English and French.

60 pristine, world-renowned diving sites. Here, you can really make a splash. (Ba dum dum).

Getting to feed turtles, sharks, stingrays, plus a dolphin experience at Sea Aquarium Park.

What We'd Change

The shore is close to the hotel, so you won't take long walks through the sand to get to the ocean. But if taking long walks on the beach is your thing, you can always walk along the shoreline.

Why You Should Go

It's just 10 miles away from the airport. Woot!

The Sun Club, a family-centric program with everything from room upgrades to cartoons in the rooms.

The island is outside of the hurricane belt, so it's good to visit year-round.

It's two miles away from Willemstad, where you can enjoy world-class shopping along with historic sightseeing (if you're into that kind of thing).

Golf is available at the nearby Blue Bay Golf Course and there are two lit tennis courts.

The beach is close to the hotel, so no long trek to reach the ocean.

Eco-adventure tours are available. Bring your bug spray, just in case.
