Good Deal

Overall my husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Cove. Having the ability to indulge in both amenities at the Cove and the sister hotel - Splash was a plus! Both the Cove and the Splash are very family friendly and we could see ourselves bringing the kids. For those looking for a powdery beach, unfortunately this is not it. Although the view from our ocean-side room was breathtaking, once on the beach I literally had to tiptoe around small pebbles, large rocks and shells. The beach was cleaned of other debri around the clock yet it's a pebble beach so be prepared to protect your toes. The food options were especially good at the Seaside Grill and Portofino. Most of the restaurants have a rotating schedule which for us worked out because we always tried something new. Must say though it was a bit disappointing to not have many authentic Jamaican dishes; oxtail, escovietch fish, or even rice and peas. There is a jerk chicken cart which was good but limited from food options and was a distance away. Also, there was a "Jamaican night" at the Windows buffet yet one restaurant dedicated to the delicious cuisine of Jamaica should really be added to the resort. Overall the staff was very accommodating and they were genuinely happy to be there for us. Be sure though to bring tip money as this wasn't the overall tone yet some of the staff, tour guides and drivers do expect tips. Special acknowledgments to Lorna, Archie, and Javaine. You brought the best out of our trip! Lorna took care of our room change seamlessly upon our arrival, Archie assisted us with our bags and made us feel like family while our new friend Javaine served superb drinks with great jokes. Thank you Sunscape family for making our trip memorable!

Not What I Expected

From looking at the pictures of the resort I decided this was where I wanted to spend my vacation. However upon checking into the resort and getting to my room I notice several things that can be improved, the bathroom being one. It's needs a good update. The food options were basic, the Asian restaurant was horrible the shrimp for the sushi tasted spoiled. I left there and when to the buffet to the pasta station I had dinner the night before it was a mediocre buffet. All the food I had during my stay was very bland especially for an island know for its food. Customer service was average nothing to write home about. I would like to see better

Great Vacation

This was my first time out of the country and I had a blast at Sunscape Cove! It was super nice and they had lots of dining options, and their bartenders were super fun and could be super generous with how strong your drinks were! Great price and I feel like I got my money's worth, the spa was a little outdated but still amazing and super relaxing! They might want to maintain their pool a little more, as there was a couple lights in the lazy river coming out of the walls. Still very clean and not crowded though! The staff was super friendly and helpful with everything we needed to know, and had great hospitality skills. One other complaint, but it's minor as the smell faded away quickly was that our room smelled like pot almost every evening we came back to get ready for dinner. We didn't know if it was connected to a vent in some break room, it wasn't awful or extremely potent it was just kind of annoying.

Great week away

Resort staff were excellent except for when you arrive they push you to get coupons and then force you into scheduling 'an informational meeting' with them during your stay to tell you about their other resorts and hope you'll sign up as member in exchange for some money to use at gift shop. We were on vacation, not there to waste time being sold on other resorts. Why not just give us the info or brochures in room to look over and decide? We cancelled the meeting. The food was unacceptable. Food in the buffet was greasy and lacked variety. The Cove terrace was good for breakfast, but other meals were not great. My wife ordered the nachos and was given a plate of chips with pump cheese, not what it said on the menu, which described the meal as having vegetables, shredded chicken, and Monterey Jack cheese. The Asian restaurant was decent one night, and when we returned, we were seated in a room so loud, we couldn't hear each other talk, and they were out of the main ingredient for my wife's (birthday) meal. The one meal that we really did enjoy was when we asked about ackee fruit, and 2 days later, the chef at the terrace managed to make us Ackee and salt fish. A nice authentic dish! Room service options were basically pizza and fries. We had to request the fridge be filled each day as promised, and the promised milk and cookies for the kids were nowhere to be seen. The bars were often out of ingredients for the "drink of the day" We were shocked to learn that pools closed at 5pm. Beach chairs were hard to come by as other guests appeared to reserve their chairs early and much of the day was spent looking for a comfortable place to relax. Aside from the early pool closure, our 10 year old had a great time in the water park and at the kids program. The staff at the kids program was great. The spa was lovely.

What's to Love

Feeling like royalty during the red carpet check-in while nibbling on frozen treats.

Every room is upgraded to The Sun Club, a family-centric program that features fun things for the kids like cartoons in the rooms & milk and cookies.

Kids get a resort passport that kicks off a scavenger hunt (read: keeps them occupied so you can chill).

The Pirate's Paradise Waterpark (shiver me timbers!) that includes a pirate ship and a 40 foot plank for wayward mutineers.

Getting pampered at the spa with stress-ousting massages, rejuvenating facials, and more. (A nice break from all the pirate stuff.)

What We'd Change

Sometimes the restaurants are busy, but you don't need reservations and the resort staff is eager to get you in as soon as possible.

Why You Should Go

Spectacular snorkeling at Montego Bay Marine Park, Jamaica's first underwater national park with protected swimming areas.

It sits on a private peninsula that boasts over 1,800 feet of beachtastic white sand with palapas, under which you can find your perch.

Dunns River Falls, a famous, rockin' waterfall, is near.

Eco-adventure tours are available, and waiting for you. Bring your bug spray.

It's near the "Hip Strip," a cultural epi-center filled with handcrafts by local artisans, Jamaican food and island hospitality, Mon.

Golf is available just 30 minutes away. Schwing.

No irritating wristbands required.
