Despite some hiccups, very nice!

Overall, the experience was very nice. I'll save the bad points until the end. The resort was very clean and spacious. It never felt closed in or like we were locked in a compound. The restaurants were varied and had some great food. The main Windows buffet was always a great choice for breakfast and lunch. Dinner gave us a wide variety including American, French, Italian, and Asian cuisines in separate restaurants. We found that our favorite was the Asian restaurant. Technically, 2 restaurants in 1. Hibachi style on one side, and menu-order seating on the other. It was very popular and arriving after 6:30 PM is not recommended. Drinks were plentiful all over the resort and servers, for the most part, were also available. The bartenders and servers are all extremely friendly. The beaches are clean and have plenty of seating available. The pools also have lots of available seating. What most people do is go out very early in the morning and place towels over their choice ow lounge chairs. This is nonsense. If you find seats you like, and all they have is towels, take the chairs. This is not the high school lunchroom, people. Now for the bad parts. We stood in line at the check-in desk for over an hour. After finally getting to the front of the line (which was not that long anyway, just very slow moving due to 3 or 4 reps working with one customer) it took another 30 minutes for the check-in process. Because it had taken so long and we were so tired, we forgot to confirm our reservation of a king bed room. We walk all the way to our building, up 4 flights of stairs, and open the door to our room to discover it was wrong. We booked a king, and got 2 small beds instead. Not romantic at all, which was the main reason for this trip. We spoke with the front desk multiple times about this over the course of the next few days, and it was never resolved. NEVER RESOLVED. We spent the entire vacation in a room that we did not book, getting less than we paid for. Sadly, that is something that really knocks down the score a lot for this resort. Honoring a commitment is important. If you can't deliver it, don't promise it! Fortunately, the drinks, the beach, and the breeze made up for some of that, but the Sunscape Bavaro Beach Resort still has a lot of work to do to become a big-time player.

Despite some hiccups, very nice!

Needs much improvements

I avoid this place until many improvements are done. Had to move rooms twice for ac issues. Other room college kids were in had no shower door installed. Service is slow and rooms not great. Food choices are ok. French restaurant the best, followed by Chopsticks. Italian restaurant the worst. Entertainment at night is terrible. We have stayed at a lot of these type of resorts and this is fair to poor. I strongly recommend taking your monies elsewhere.

Sunscape Bavaro Beach

Do's: Hibachi restaurant! Excursions: deep sea fishing, zipline, booze cruise Beach walks Breakfast omelettes, pizza shack by beach Ask for Sergio to be your on-site tour guy. He was great!! Don'ts: Casino- dealers were very boring and looked mad, not personable at all Pavillion activites were low quality acts brought in. The pre-show entertainment was fun and entertaining Steakhouse and Italian restaurants were terrible. Most deserts were bland on the whole resort. All of the vendors in the evenings and at night were very annoying trying to sell you souvenirs etc. They hassled you at each booth on the way to and from your room.

Beautiful Resort, overall good experience

I purchased a shuttle ride from the airport to the hotel. It was very easy to coordinate since there was only one outlet from the airport and we were taken with no issues to the resort. We stayed 5 days 4 nights (it really was just 3 full days though) Sunscape bavaro Beach has a beautiful lobby with seriously comfy lounge chairs. My boyfriend and I found ourselves hanging out there several times throughout our stay to just relax but still be out of our room and under fans. We got a free upgrade to ocean view and it was absolutely gorgeous. The room surpassed my expectations since I originally booked tropical view. Room came with king sized bed, mini fridge stocked with sodas, bottled waters, and Presidente beer! There was a large dresser and two smaller side tables that we didn't really use. The room also came with a connected space with a flatscreen tv, a pullout couch, and a deck. Very hospitable staff. We were brought up complementary champagne, fruit, and a birthday cake for my birthday. I overall enjoyed the food. There were multiple buffets and dine in restaurants. We spent earlier parts of the day at the buffets rotating and would pick a restaurant to eat a nicer dinner at. My favorite would probably be Chopsticks! The hibachi experience was fun and the food was yummy. Also, they will give u bottled water if u request but all their water served at the resort is already filtered. To me, the weather was perfect and the beach was beautiful. There were some barriers that seemed like an eye sore but I knew they were for making the waves more calm and I enjoyed that. **main negatives that I found-- room service can sometimes take a whiiillleeee. Communicating to the front desk for extra towels etc can be kind of annoying since they seemed to not follow through promptly when we asked for things. Rooms often don't get cleaned until later afternoon and I don't feel like they changed our sheets aside from just making the bed. The food originally made my BF and I a little queasy but that was just our bodies adjusting to their food. Cleared up in a day or so and had no issues aside from "going" a little more frequently. Excursions~ we ended up going to the scape park to do zip lining and see Hoya Azul. Absolutely a worthwhile experience and would fully recommend!
