Island vibes

I went with my cousins on this trip, we had an ocean front view room. The hotel is absolutely stunning! It is set in the background of the rainforest and is on a beautiful plantation. If you get the ocean front view room use the tub it is beautiful and you have to ask for bubble gel for the bath. They will draw the bath for you if you like but I'm not that prissy I did it myself lol Chrisine and Francisco at the concierge are extremely helpful. They love their job and it shows. The hotel is very beautiful the staff is very nice. If you rent a car please be aware parking is $24 per day! We did not know that. No self parking is available. Go to the pool, the jacuzzi and the beach it is really worth it. Check out the lawn where they do weddings it is absolutely breath taking. I loved this place it was nice to be away from all the action in San Juan with the option to drive everywhere. I would highly recommend going. Enjoy

Beautiful, relaxing and mostly convenient

The landscaping of this place in simply amazing. This is as close to paradise as it gets. From rainforest to explore (enough undeveloped land on property to bike around in for an hour without seeing other people) to the best pool I ever experienced and a gigantic beach private to just the few guest (most of which never go there). You can also sail, kayak and paddle board or use the driving range without any other additional charge than the resort fee (which you have to pay in addition to the room, but is included in most packages - read the fine print). Then, after all kinds of outdoorsy activity, you return to the most incredible rooms I have ever seen in a hotel. Spacious and luxurious. Clean and cool and completely bug free, they will give you the feeling of going back home from the tropics just to sleep and get ready for the next day again. Only the chirping of the whistling frogs outside will remind you that you do not stay at a luxury hotel in a big US city. We basically never left the property and I never got bored. The other reason we never left is that it is very expensive to do so if you did not rent a car. Car rental on property starts at 4x at what you pay at the airport. The issue is that - as other pointed out - the food at the resort also contains a "convenience fee". Even small pizza (admittedly very well made) goes at as much as a fine steak back home. And at night this is not even an option (only fine dining after 6PM) - be prepared to spend more than a hundred bucks for two per dinner. And even if you get food somewhere else, there is no microwave in your room. We also experienced some minor issues with service (no drinks for 35min at a "top notch" restaurant?), but read the other reviews - given how spoilt you get at this place, complaints do sounds a bit like the princess on the pea. Overall, highly recommend for professionals who need to recharge their batteries or couple seeking a romantic spot. Families that can afford the above will be happy too. I also was relieved to learn that the property was developed on an old coconut palm tree plantation (which are not native to Puerto Rico), which alleviated some of my environmental concerns.

Great Luxury Resort!

This is a fantastic resort! We brought our 20-month old with us and he had a great time! The resort offered all the child amenities we needed such as a stroller to get around the beautiful jungle-like paths, a high chair for our room, and a crib (which we didn't need but they had them available). There is also a kids club on the property which came in very useful a couple of times. This was our first vacation with our child so we were looking for a resort that would keep us all happy. The pools were wonderful (2 kiddie pools available) and the beach was beautiful (although not white sand) and practically empty which made it a better experience. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The room was a good size, the bathroom was huge! There are 3 restaurants to choose from on the property. Fern is super expensive but amazing food! We only had breakfast there a couple of times (we would've had dinner too but our kid is far too active to bring with us to such a nice place). We did have dinner at Molasses our first night there and it was very good. The pool side restaurant - Seagrapes, is far simpler and easy but still not cheap. We tried going there for dinner one night and it was closed (the resort info provided in the room showed that it's open for dinner so that was weird). We ended up having room service dinners a couple of times simply because we had our kid with us and it was so much easier, yet really expensive. Plus, we had a beautiful outdoor deck where we ate with a view of the beach and trees. By the way, although we got an ocean front room, there is only a partial view of the ocean due to all the trees blocking your view. They should be a little more clear about this in their advertising, but still a nice view. Overall, great vacation, although we spent a little more than we wanted to but it was worth it. I would definitely go back.
