good value

Spent the last ten nights at Sonesta Maho Beach Resort in St. Martin. Room Great, service good, but the location of the hotel is much too close to the airport. After the first few days the excitement of seeing the planes land and depart was wearing we frankly could not stand the noise anymore the pool area is very congested with hardly any shaded areas or sufficient umbrellas the beach (well hardly a beach) leaves a lot to be desired no nice beach as the beach is man made and the tide comes right into where you might sit also it faces up to where jet planes take off across the road and the sand from the thrust of the planes when taking off is terrible loved the hotel room and the nice people who work there but because of the lack of beach this hotel will never be visited by us again.

Sonesta Maho NOGO!

You get what you pay for! -1st ROOM was so LOUD because it faced a nightclub that played thumping club music until 3:30am. After two nights of not sleeping, I started losing my mind and demanded we switch to a different room at midnight. -2nd ROOM SMELLED disgusting! It was so outdated and old...but it was quiet. - FOOD was OK. I have been to a decent amount of all-inclusive resorts and I'm usually not impressed with the food. This one was below par for someone with already low expectations. The Point Italian Restaurant was the biggest disappointment, but I'm from New Jersey. We had a ridiculous wait for service, tiny portions and they wouldn't let us have more! So much for all-inclusive! Also, I'm so tired of eating the same breakfast everyday! -Beach. Well...there were chairs on a sandy deck to see the water, but you couldn't access it. There was a tiny, water accessible beach with chairs that were shared with the timeshare resort. -Pool. Super outdated and way too kid-friendly. -Service was average. -Value. Again, you get what you pay for. This was a below average resort with below average prices.

Small improvements could make this much better

The good: -Most the stsff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. -The spa experience was very nice. They gave me and my gf extra stuff. -Really good bacon. -Unlimited drinks/food. -I liked most of the food. -Pizza was awesome -They grab taxis for you. The bad: -The staff that wasn't friendly was very unfriendly. As another reviewer said: it was like they are doing time. -Reserving a restaurant is horrible and offensive. To reserve a spot in a restaurant they make you wait on a line for a long time wasting daylight in the lobby only at certain inconvenient hours of the day only to be told that they are booked for a week. Why even have the reservations? What a waste of time. They could of at the very least have explained to the people waiting that they are booked. They need to get rid of this system. -It's loud at night. I am a morning person who likes to get up early to do things. The nearby nightclub made it difficult to sleep. -Getting a slice of pizza there is almost as hard to get as winning the lottery. -One night we wanted to dine at the Ascot sports bar and pub and got stuck waiting outside for 45 minutes because the waitress was late. Since we sat down we actually waited 2 hours without getting any food, while other table who arrived the same time as us got there appetizers and meals and left before we got anything. The drink waitress didn't visit our table either until we went to the bar ourselves to get drinks. I did not stay for the food. I was so tired and disappointed that I went straight to bed. My family told me that my food came after I left. 2 hours is unacceptable, though. I don't know why they didn't at least get us our appetizers. -Awful coffee. More like coffee flavored water. You could see how watery it is as they poured it.
