Family Vacation
Our vacation was wonderful. Cheap Carribean is well organized and all the items we paid for were received. Some general comments when you get to Punta Cana especially when travelling with kids have something to do for them the wait for transport to your hotel can vary since you are sharing a ride with others. The ride was comfotable and on time. The Sirenis is smaller than most and this allows for more personal service. The team at the resort is excellent and yes Barney (not the purple dinosaur) is an icon at Sirenis. The beach is very nice but you need to get up early to reserve a nice spot otherwise you just have to play it by ear. The drinks are ok they are not top shelf not even middle shelf but the Presidente is excellent, but that is typical based on our experience previously at a different resort. The food is MASS produced but decent. The local dinner items were excellent and the lunch buffets were ok. We didn't come there to dine we came for the beach, the pool and the activities which were fabulous. Overall this was an excellent vacation.

A laughable 4 star resort...
This review could be the longest ever, but I will keep it short and highlight the biggest disappointments.
ROOM: A "junior suite" consists of an ancient blue sofa and desk in one room and 2 hard-as-a-rock double beds in the other. It was extremely run-down, peeling paint, cracked walls, etc. The room smelled of mildew and had that very unclean feel to it...from the bedding to the pillows to the floors. When I unpacked my suitcase upon arriving home, everything reeked of that stale smell. The air conditioning in 2 of our 4 rooms never worked the whole time. You have to keep your room key inserted in this holder by the door to keep your a/c and lights on. The electrical outlets are not standard, so nothing could be plugged in.
DINING: Yes, they advertise 5 on-site gourmet restaurants. Good luck getting a reservation. You can only make a dining reservation during certain times of the day, and each time, we were told they were "booked". After a LOT of pressure, we were given reservations, usually about 9pm each night. The restaurants were EMPTY, the service terrible and food...well, we had better food at the buffet, where you could eat as much as you wanted, sit where you wanted and dine at the time you wanted.
BEACH: Very nice, lots of chairs and pretty water.
Fortunately, we took a family trip of 8 people, and because we enjoy each other's company so much, made the best of the 5 days we were there. We would not recommend this resort.
My friends and I went to this resort for spring break last week. We are college students and weren't really expecting much but a place to sleep and plenty of alcohol. We chose this resort because I went 4 years ago with my family and it was great and it fit everyones budget. The ride from the airport to the resort is about 45mins-1hour. It took us 30 mins for us to check in because the language barrier from spanish to english was so terrible. No one understood what we were saying and I understand its a different country, but they should atleast know the basics. I've been to Punta Cana 8 times and I had never had a language barrier issue as bad as this resort. Our room smelled like smoke and the front desk told us all rooms were smoking no matter what you request. The furniture was all very outdated and dusty and moldy/mildew smelling. The upholstery was the exact same from when i was there 4 years ago. The bathroom was updated and very nice. If you like sleeping on bricks then you will enjoy the beds- they are SO hard and same with the pillows. We had to pay $50 US dollars to rent the safety deposit box but they gave it to our other friends for free and then tried to tell us they didn't. The food in the buffets were awful. I survived off of rolls, pizza, french fries and ice cream all week. It was the same exact foods every single day and only like 5 things to chose from. The italian and mexican restaurant were great. The steak house and seafood were disgusting. They told us we could only make 2 reservations during our whole stay there and then when we went to make them at 8:30am(when they opened) they told us everything was already booked, but then our friends went at 9:30am and got reservations. ANNOYING. The Beach was absolutely beautiful! Ocean was amazing-definitely their best feature! Pool was also really great and refreshing. All of the bartenders were so much fun- if it wasnt for them then i dont think i would have enjoyed it as much. Make sure you meet salsarean and iguana at the bars(they work there!) they are HILARIOUS and remembered all 20 of us everyday! The beach bar after 3pm was so much fun! You have to pay for drinks in the casino. If you want to do any of the water sports then you have to get lessons which are only offered at 9:30am- RIDICULOUS. Sadly on the last day I met a guy who worked there that was dominican, but american born and he spoke perfect english so I wish i had met him earlier in the week- he would have saved us from a lot of problems. The plugs are sunkin in the wall aka you cant plug in phone chargers or hairdryers, etc. if they have bulky ends. Went to the front to see if they had adapters that stuck out further-they did and tried to make us rent them for the week- luckily the turinter tour guide that we had(who was sooo nice and helpful) went to the front and just got them for us for free. Friends of ours did the horse back riding at sunset and had a really great time and even wanted to go for a 2nd time. Said it looked sketchy at first but the people were very nice. We all went on the Marinarium snorkling/swimming with sharks/natural pool expedition- we went on the morning tour and had a great time- probably one of the best days we had and met great people! Half of my friends that booked early payed about $860 and the other half that booked later payed $1,200 and I'd have to say that its definitely NOT worth either of those prices. Last year for spring break we all got a deal for Oceans Blue and Sand(which was an amazing resort!) in Punta Cana for $900 and we all agreed that we wished we payed $40 more to go there or somewhere else that was a bit nicer or newer. We didnt meet any americans at our resort- not that that is an issue but the resort is now very customized for europeans. I met a guy from germany that was there for his 3rd time and said it would also be his last. Personally I wouldnt recommend this resort to anyone. If you're going to invest your money in a vacation invest it elsewhere. Like i said it was my 8th time going to Punta Cana and this was the only resort that I've been to more than once- we love to try out new places and there are definitely A LOT better places than this one.

Sirenis Tropical Suites
Hotel was rated at 3.5 star and I agree. Good famiily venue- food, entertainment and staff were are great. Rooms were average- for a few dollars more, I would recommend upgrading to a ocean view.
They also charged $3-4 a day plus $50.00 deposit for a safe- In my mind, this really tells you that it is a 3.5 star.

389 units. What We'd Change
I found some of the signage confusing and the rooms could do with a modernization. Don't get me wrong, they are clean and comfortable, but just need a freshen up.
Why You Should Go
Being an older property, it's simply a great bargain for Punta Cana.
