Enjoyable Stay

The property was beautiful and secluded. The panoramic view from our room was spectacular. The dining options were numerous and edible. The mixed drinks were terrific, and the alcohol added to each drink was definitely not skimped on. The only negative points for the property were the low water pressure and the sales pitch that we attended to try to get us to buy into the resort club. Basically, almost an entire day of our trip was wasted, but we did receive resort credit in return for attending. Overall, the resort is a great place to stay just don't get pulled into attending the 90 minute sales presentation.

Would go back in a minute!

I have been to other all-inclusive resorts but I didn't know what to expect with this one. I took my girlfriend who has never been to this kind of resort. She was rather skeptical about the idea of an all-inclusive. In short – she loved this even more than I did! It was perfect for couples who want quiet, good service, and no kids. I would not recommend it to someone who picks their vacation spots based on world-class beaches. But, this was adequate and would not keep me from going back again. But, the service staff was tremendous. Very friendly and very tolerant of my attempts to use the little bit of Spanish that I possess. There is no effort to make you mix with other couples. If you want to make friends for a week, fine. But if you want to be left to yourselves, even better! We are already planning a return trip!

Honeymoon Feb. 2017

Overall this resort was clean, staff was nice, friendly and Cheap Caribbean was very easy to work with. We got a private shuttle to and from the airport through AMSTAR. Each driver we had was on time, clean car and I felt safe while they drove. I would recommend this resort to my friends and family with one exception. DO NOT GO ON THE BEACH WITHOUT WATER SHOES!!!! First night there my husband and I went to the beach from 4p-530p and just laid out with a drink in hand. All was great until we returned home and found I came home with 25 sand flea bites on the bottom of my feet. My husband however didn't get one sand flea bite because he wore water shoes the whole time on the beach. After 2 miserable days of burning, itching, numbness I finally was able to go to the doctor and got RX cream to help the pain. I highly recommend you go on at least one excursion while there. We did the sunset cruise and loved it. We saw turtles, whales and dolphins. The boat was extremely clean and the food was great! It was well worth the extra price and again the transportation was through AMSTAR.

Fantastic vacation

My husband and I visited Secrets Papagayo for 8 days in February. This is our fourth visit to Secrets and Dreams resorts. The weather was amazing. Hot!!! The resort is very nice and very hilly. We enjoyed the hiking and beautiful views. The service was remarkable. The staff was fun, helpful and so kind. We had a lot of fun watching the monkeys at the resort. The black sand beaches were really cool. Just one thing that was not so great. Bug bites!! We took bug spray and our room was also stocked with spray. We honestly never saw the bugs. The bites simply show up. Take anti itch lotion. You will be glad you did. Costa Rica is amazing. We went on a couple of excursions. If we go back we would break up the trip. A few days in Papagayo and a few days in another region. There's so much to see and each region offers a different climate. Enjoy!

What We'd Change

The beaches aren't white, soft sands, but what you do get is the most gorgeous black, volcanic sands. And, listening to sound of the water hit the black sands is so tranquil.
