Fantastic Deal

We just returned from a week at Secrets Maroma Beach. It was a wonderful time, at an excellent resort. We got here via a deal of fortune, so needless to say, it was at a serious reduction in price. The good.Just about everything. The grounds, the pools, the food, the drink and the beach. The beach is the best we have seen in the Yucatan. Outstanding. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful.Special thanks to Dario and Marco. Two hard working and fun beach waiters.Luis, our concierge, and Christina from the entertainment team. Now I have to point out some bad things.Keep in mind that these are minor issues. The time share pitch. They call it unlimited vacation. They will offer resort credits for spa treatments and a romantic dinner on the beach.Unless you are seriously interested in a time share say no thanks and move on.If not, you will be subjected to a three hour, hard sell presentation.A waste of valuable vacation time. They seem to push the upgrades whenever they get the chance. They may or maynot be to your benefit.Choose wisely. Overall, this was tremendous vacation.

WARNING....THIS IS A TIMESHARE

This is a timeshare and you will get an aggressive sales person pushing you to take the timeshare tour when you check in (while they hold your room key). They call is "loyalty program". That is not true. This is a RCI property. The timeshare sales are VERY PUSHY. Be aware! Be prepared to be very nasty to them so they leave you alone. They say 1.5 hrs for tour...that is if you buy. It will go on for hours if you choose not to buy. Other than that is a great resort. Beautiful Beach. Good Food Nice Rooms

Great place for a honeymoon!

The resort was beautiful and clean! All the staff was very friendly. We were greated by the staff as soon as we got there with a glass of champagne. Our door had a banner on it that said, "honeymoon" and there was a bottle of champagne waiting for us in the room. We had the swim out pool room which was beautiful but not really worth it. We hardly used it and the mosquitos were out like crazy. Make sure to bring bug spray. We sprayed ourselves like 3x a day and we still got bit quite a bit. We did two excursions, Xcaret and Xplor. The whole time we were at Xcaret I kept thinking why did we leave our beautiful resort that is all inclusive to go to this where u have to pay for pretty much every activity. Xplor was awesome. It's a definite must! The hotel spends a lot on their night entertainment. We saw a Beatles show, a rock show, and a water show. They have a lot of activities during the day as well. All the restaraunts were nice but I felt like the food was just mediocre. The spa was very nice as well. We got the couples massage which I highly recommend! Be careful in the airport for the people that act like they are trying to help you but in turn are just trying to scam you with the time share stuff. They say you can get a refund but they still make you go to the hotel to get the refund. Now we are stuck with trying to dispute it on our credit cards. Overall, this resort was awesome and I definitely recommend it!

Great place for a honeymoon! Great place for a honeymoon!

The food was delicious with a great variety of dining options for all different tastes. If we travel back to this area we would definitely stay at Secrets Maroma again.

What's to Love

Being spoiled by the sparkling champagne and cool towel upon arrival.

Chic, breathtaking interiors in warm earth tones with stunning vistas of the turquoise sea.

Powdery, velvety sand that never gets hot.

The crazy decadent swim-out suites where you can paddle or float into one of 12 smaller pools.

The cushy spa that boasts a spa garden, hydrotherapy circuit and outdoor massage cabins. Sa-weet.

Secrets box - room service where you'll never have to see a human.

Being lazy in the lazy river - there won't be any kids splashing you because it's adults-only.

Free round of golf at the Grand Coral Riviera Maya that was designed by PGA champion Nick Price.

Not a big golfer? Go for the mini at the 9-hole put put golf course).

You can go horseback riding - with your hair blowing in the wind you'll feel like you're in a movie.

Dining under a private palapa at Oceana. Rock star existence, it is.

The lit tennis courts - who doesn't love this?

What We'd Change

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun does enforce a dress code for some of their more upscale restaurants, but it gives you an excuse to shop.

Why You Should Go

The resort is located 20 miles south of the airport so you are heartbeats away from your first delicious vacay cocktail.

The French restaurant, Bordeaux, has a wine cellar. Not too shabby.

Zip lines, swim with dolphins and eco-adventures are near - there might be a fee, but go for it. You only live once.

Chichen Itza and Coba Ruins are near - both are historical and beguiling.

Water sports out the wazoo: sea kayaking, catamaran, water skiing, snorkeling and windsurfing.

You can jump on a Hobie cat or go parasailing or regular sailing.

More water-centric stuff: pool volleyball and water polo. Water aerobics for the less competitive.

Check out the scuba diving tours, wave runners or deep-sea fishing - for an additional charge.

Euro-bungee is available - become a human slingshot!

When you've had enough sun, you can check out archery, dance lessons, and billiards.
