Sandos Finisterra

Be aware: the beach is wide but not walkable, very steep. The location and views from the hortel property are great. The rooms are spaceous, but the bathrooms are very, very old and smelly. If you don't care about a beach walk, this is an overall OK place for the money.

Whale watching in Cabo

We stayed the first part of Feb., 2017, second time to Cabo first time at the Finisterra. We requested a high room for the views, however we got a lobby level room. I complained a little and was told if i didnt like it come back tomorrow and the would try to change it, we did not need to, we loved the location of the room, view was incredible, probably would have been better if we were higher but for the short time we were actually on the balcony every day the propensity of our room to the restaurants and every thing else out weighed the view. Every single person in the resort was about as friendly and helpful as they could be. i wish i could remember the name of the girl at the front desk and the one at the desk in the lobby, i received a beautiful smile every time i saw them. All of the restaurants that we ate at were very good, the Agave (Steak House) was our favorite. Not enough different restaurants though if you were to stay for much more than a week. Dont waste your time on coffee at the breakfast buffet, go straight to the Cup Cake Cafe for you caffeine, however you like it. The rooms were a little dated but they were very clean, could have used another blanket on the bed tho. We did not use the pools as we go to Mexico for the beach, though they seamed to be in good condition and clean, Heard a few people complain about the temperature of the water, "its February people". hot tubs in every pool. and pool side service was very apparent. Now for the beach, exercise before you go, the sand is deep and it will wear you out. kind of kidding but it is a work out. The plus side to the beach was Norma, I felt like i was the only one she waited on, i can not say how much we enjoyed her the couple of days we got to. she is not always on the beach and the service suffered when she was not there. I took a book and read maybe three pages in four days, we took aour binoculars a whale watched from the beach. Overall I would highly recommend the Fiisterra and we will come back.

Finisterra a Bust

We were immediately attacked when we arrived by the sales team to push us into the 90 minute conference to try to sell us on the time share. My wife was hungry, since we hadn't eaten since 6 a.m. and it was now 3 p.m. After about the 6th time of telling the sales person that we just want to settle in and eat something, my wife got up and said she was going to find something to eat. Totally rude. They pushed us into the tour at 8:30 a.m. the next day (they don't give you time to see the property for a reason). We arrived at 8:30 and sat until 9 before the sales person came to pick us up for the tour. I told him we arrived on time at 8:30 and their 90 minutes started at 8:30. He informed me that the clock just started, so 9:00 was the start time. We told him straight up that we were not going to accept the deal, we already are signed up at another timeshare that we love. That didn't stop him. He took us through the entire sales pitch. At 10:30 I started saying he was done, but he kept going. I finally got rude and told him that we were done at about 10:45. Totally rude. We earned an 80 minute massage and a few excursions, but you still pay what you would pay if you just went to the marina and negotiated. The service was hit and miss. Mostly miss. Many of the male servers were rude and unfriendly. Terrible pool side service. Bartenders are not friendly. Food is pretty good. The beef (steaks) were actually pretty tasty, considering it's Mexico. There were times where items were not available - Rack of Lamb, Filet, and capers for bagels and lox on 3 separate occasions. Rooms were nice and we loved the view of the marina, comfortable beds. If you get a room on the backside, as we did (overseeing the marina) prepare to hike. Up and down elevators and stairs to get to the pools and two of the restaurants. Don't plan on going to the beach, almost no one is down there. You can't go into the water. Their ad says beachfront, but you can't really use the beach. We paid far to much for far to little. Check out the hotels on the Sea of Cortez side of Cabo. They have nice beaches and are still close to town.

All inclusive sounds better than it really is

The food was the biggest disappointment from Cupcakes in the morning to the various dining options during the day, all average at best! Getting a cup of coffee to start the day was a chore in itself. Cocktail options were the cheapest possible liquor and disappointing. The staff was nice and helpful the food was just horrible! The only good meal was at Maria Corona in town. Would not go back!

What's to Love

The Stones Club is an amazing place to watch the whales cruise through the surf, spot dolphins or enjoy post-sunset stargazing. The tasty cocktails don't hurt either!

What We'd Change

The views of the surf from the seven-acre beach are stunning, but you can't swim here. Fortunately, Sandos Finisterra offers three sprawling freshwater pools.

Why You Should Go

Sandos Finisterra is a resort with both beauty and convenience. Enjoy an aerial walkway overlooking waterfalls spilling majestically down a rock cliff and still be close to Cabo San Lucas' hot nightlife.

Hotel Description

Sandos Finisterra: Relax at the End of the Earth

Sandos Finisterra (end of the earth) is nestled on a hilltop at the very end of the Baja Peninsula. Within easy walking distance of downtown Cabo San Lucas and the Marina, Sandos Finisterra overlooks the crystalline waters of the Sea of Cortez on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other. Whether you're looking to party through the night or lounge the day away, this luxury resort offers the perfect vacation.

Guests of the Sandos Finisterra at Cabo San Lucas enjoy seven expansive acres of private beach that's perfect for serious seaside lounging. Though the ocean isn't safe for swimming here, three free-form pool complexes offer more than enough space to splash around on sunny days. The beachside pool complex offers a meandering heated pool with a shallow area for pint-sized vacationers. Four eight-person hot tubs provide a bit of bubbly with the vista. The mid-level complex comes complete with a swim-up bar, and the upper level offers an unheated watery escape with a cozier four-person spa.

When your tummy starts to grumble for sabor (that's flavor in Spanish) satisfaction, treat it to a steak and seafood extravaganza at cliff-top favorite Blue Marlin. If you're looking for something a bit more casual, grab a side of ceviche at the beachfront Palapa Beach Club Bar & Grill, the largest Palapa in the Pacific. Guests can indulge in panoramic ocean views with a side of authentic tacos and tailor-made cocktails at the peerless Whale Watcher Bar, and maybe catch a glimpse of the bar's majestic namesakes. After dinner, indulge your sweet-tooth at Cupcake Cafe where you'll enjoy a number of unique coffees, desserts and of course, cupcakes!

Guests seeking on-site activities can enjoy both pre- and post-sunset tennis matches on two lighted tennis courts, or opt to sweat it out at the universal gym, complete with an after-workout sauna facility.

After late night star gazing, head back to your room's private patio and enjoy a cocktail from your own minibar. Or, take a breather and head right back out to dance the night away; the choice is yours! So what are you waiting for? End the world as you know it for a few days and experience beachy fun and sunshine at the ends of the earth.
