Great staff, great beach
The staff was really good and friendly. there is almost always someone to greet you and let you in or out. I think we had to open the main hotel entrance doors once or twice.
The beach is steps away from the front door and the hotel provides lounge chairs and umbrellas, which is really great.
Taxis are usually parked outside so you don't really have to try hard if you wanted to cab it anywhere.
I can't say much about the restaurant (Zest) since we only had breakfast there one morning - but it wasn't very good.
The hotel room we got through cheapcaribbean.com was #701 and it's interior walls frame the elevator shaft, so, we could hear the elevator rumbling up and down day and night.
We actually had about half ocean view, but, the windows of the hotel are filthy on the outside. Not sure if this can be prevented since its next to the beach and it's pretty windy much of the time.
All in all, the room is very basic; bed, small side table, safe, tiny 3-drawer dresser (it's more of small file cabinet at most) and a small bathroom that has a really awkward shower that is only half enclosed so the water gets all over the floor.
given how sparse the hotel room was for what we paid (close to $200/nt), I would consider a vacation rental at one of the neighboring high rises.
The hotel was nicely renovated with a great blue lighting. Friday evening and all day Saturday it rained. On Sunday the weather looked very promising, but after being out on the beach for a couple hours it rained more. I think I would have enjoyed my stay more without the rain.
If - -like me -- your idea of the perfect island vacation is to stay in a small, chic hotel with fabulous staff, fabulous food and phenomenal ocean views, this is the hotel for you. From what I understand, this hotel was just recently renovated, and I love the decor: emphasizing their proximity to water (the beautiful palm-tree-lined beaches of Isla Verde are just a dozen steps outside the door), the hotel uses turquoise blue as an accent color. Blue-tinted waterfalls splash behind glass in the elevators, blue lights are an option in every bedroom, and the casually elegant rooftop terrace restaurant - -with breathtaking views of the coastline -- is a beguiling mix of turquoise and gold. I can't say enough great things about this restaurant. Part of it is covered - -great when there's a sudden rainstorm - -but much of it is uncovered, inviting you to lie on the comfy couches, sip on the great mojitos, snack on the fabulous calamari, salmon ceviche or ricotta donuts glazed in grand mariner caramel...and stare up at the moon and the stars.
I must also say a few words about the staff. I consider hospitality to be the ultimate luxury, and by that measure this is the most luxurious hotel in which I have ever stayed. From the valet at the entrance to the staff at the front desk to the servers at the restaurant - -and everyone in between -- the staff was uniformly - -and genuinely - -warm, caring and incredibly accommodating. I tucked away my watch, turned off my cell phone, left my i-pad unopened and simply allowed myself to be pampered by the staff, soothed by the balmy breezes and serenaded by the nightly chirping of the indigenous coqui frogs and the great Atlantic surf. Just the best vacation I've ever had!

Great stay!
We spent 4 nights at the San Juan Water & Beach Club Hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean - perhaps a little worn - but very well taken care of. The maid staff did a wonderful job keeping everything in ship shape order. The rooftop pool was small, but the perfect size for a quick dip and the bar/restaurant area boasts wonderful views. We found the staff to for the most part be very nice and helpful throughout our stay. My only criticism was something small, but a little frustrating. There were two water bottles sitting out on the bathroom counter next to the coffee machine when we arrived. There were no signs or additional info so we assumed they were complimentary and drank them. At the end of the stay, we were charged upwards of $3 for each bottle. I certainly would not have opened those bottles if I had known!
This location was perfect to get to and from the airport, Old San Juan, and rental car facilities. You do need to take a cab to get into Old San Juan, but it was not terribly expensive (roughly $20 per way while we were there). The food options right around the hotel were not super authentic (fast food and chain restaurants were the easiest to find), but they were pretty plentiful. A number of casinos are in walking distance and the very beautiful beach is literally right out the front door of the hotel. Towels, chairs, and umbrellas are provided by the hotel.
Overall, this was a great spot to stay and very reasonably priced especially compared to other hotels in the Isla Verde area. We would come back again to the San Juan Water & Beach Club Hotel in a heartbeat.

We didn't even try to swim in the pool, but it sure looked open to me. It's a small pool but a glorious one -- unimpeded views of the coastline on three sides.

what is the best beach for snorkling in Puerto Rico?2 answers
7 months ago
s
According to www.snorkeling.info, the San Juan area offers some snorkeling opportunities, but not of the same quality of the eastern and southern coast, or the outlying islands. The choppy waters of the Atlantic can make snorkeling a much trickier (and more dangerous) activity - as always, be careful when you head into the water and be aware of your surroundings. DIY snorkeling can be found near the San Juan bay marina (near the Caribe Hilton), and the nearby beaches of Luquillo and Isla Verde frequently have kiosks where you can rent equipment. Snorkeling on Condado beach can be dangerous due to the conditions, try the area near the Condado Plaza hotel for some calmer waters. Many San Juan hotels offer Snorkeling excursions that leave from the hotels and head to the calmer waters off Fajardo, about a one hour drive.

We didn't have time to go snorkeling in Puerto Rico, but the hotel has a toll-free number, and I am sure they would offer you great advice. There's also a company called Natural Wonders (we didn't use them but we ran into them when we were touring the rainforest, El Junque). They seemed to know everything about Puerto Rico's "natural side" and on the day we ran into them, they were being filmed by CNN...;I'm sure you can Google them...

Is close proximity of an airport disruptive in terms of noise?3 answers
I just found out that water and beach club hotel is less than 5 minutes away from the international airport. Obviously I do not want to be woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of a descending plane. could anyone please let me know how loud does it get on a of scale 1 to 10?
Thank you so much,

New York, ny
We have never received any complaints from our clients regarding noise due to the distance of the airport.
MariaCC
Hi New York. I am super-sensitive to noise and I just last week stayed at this hotel. Our room (506) was super-quiet throughout the night. In the morning after, say, 8 am, I heard one or two jets, but that's all. The jets take off and land over the water and because of the stiff Atlantic breezes, the sound gets carried out to sea. So no worries!
Elegancia
1, i only heard jets taking off/landing during the afternoon while lounging on the beach, there was no issues whatsoever with jet noise at night.

Hotel Description
Island Chic at the San Juan Water and Beach Club
From the pristine beach at its base to a trendy new rooftop bar, San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel captures the attention of sophisticated travelers. Fresh from a $2.5m renovation, this boutique hotel in the upscale Isla Verde area of San Juan is exceptional, with award-winning decor and first-class service in an intimate environment.
As soon as you enter the lobby, you'll be welcomed with distinctive style. A waterfall wall, violet ceiling lighting, limestone floors and frosted glass create a stylish ambiance. Check in is accompanied by the sounds of gentle surf corridor speakers to set the mood. The hall itself is a satisfying illusion: you seem to be walking on pebbles, which are actually clever floor tiles. When you enter the elevator, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the sight of another waterfall behind glass.
Ready to catch some rays, or take a dip in the hotel pool? You'll find the pool and sundeck on the rooftop. First grab a coco-nuts martini at Wet, the bar on one side of the roof, before scoping out the sundeck. The Beds in Heaven, over-sized white-vinyl lounging beds, catch your eye. "What a life," you think, looking out over the Atlantic Ocean before sinking in. Or if you prefer a perfect beach, just across the quiet street the two-mile stretch of Isla Verde Beach with its golden sands are waiting for you.
Start your day with a tasty breakfast at Mist, which transforms into a bar from noon-10pm. Mist is widely recognized as one of the hottest spots in San Juan. Maybe you'll catch sight of a celeb or two while you're unwinding with a nightcap.
With only 81 rooms and suites, the San Juan Water and Beach Club Hotel offers a cozy get-away for travelers tired of wearing wristbands at giant, crowded resorts. Whether you stay in a room, you'll have floor-to-ceiling windows with a view of the Atlantic. Soft lighting playing off neutral colors calms you in your little haven. Upscale luxury, boutique service, this is the spot for you!
