Great Low Cost Vacation

I was very pleasantly surprised with this trip. If you're not a picky person / someone looking for a luxury getaway this is a great place for the price. The hotel is in San Jose del Cabo which isn't party town Cabo San Lucas.(Cabo san Lucas is a 25 min drive) The environment is chill there are many older couples and families which stay in San Jose. The service is excellent everyone is very nice, they make you feel very welcome. The pool also doesn't get too crowed and is clean and spacious. The beach it self is very private, however is un swimmable because of the waves. Our ocean view room was just what we needed, nothing fancy or extra. The only down point in comparison to other resorts I have visited was the food. The restaurants are easy to reserve however the plates we tried weren't too tasty. The buffet was pretty good however not outstanding. Also this resort has a membership program so the lobby staff can be persistent with trying to pitch you however they are still very nice regardless your decision. Lastly there are many cool excursions around and available. What we loved the most was the center of town in San Jose which is about a 15 min walk away. They have various art galleries and it's beautiful.

Ehhh...

I will say this...the Royal Solaris has excellent customer service. Check in was easy and fast (although we had to show our own selves to our room). They will try to sell you a timeshare as soon as you walk in. You can decline and take it up later in your trip only if you choose. You get a credit for a future stay. Room- basic amenities. Clean. Bed was not comfortable. Towels were hard. Furniture was old and could use an update. Pool area- no complaints. Didn't have to come out super early to get chairs by the pool. If you like a loud, party pool environment, this is not the resort for you. The drinks were only good if you specifically asked for more liquor. They were more than happy to oblige. Beach- beautiful and picturesque. Can't say if it was swim-able because I didn't actually get in the water. Guys on the beach sell EVERYTHING and they are super nice and not trying to get over on you. They were awesome. Entertainment- they had a nightly DJ that played the same set every night. Kids were allowed to be there since this resort is so family friendly. Bar- The bartenders in the main area by check-in were awesome but again, make sure you ask for more liquor (a triple taste like a regular so ask for that) otherwise your drink will taste like a virgin. Bartenders on the beach are the same. Food- When I say this was the worst food ever, I am not exaggerating. Do not expect real Mexican food. My food from the on-site Mexican restaurant tasted terrible. The only edible thing to me was the tacos and they don't have flour tortillas anywhere! And avocados? They were non-existent. For breakfast, I had to ask for bacon because they don't put it out. Seriously? Room service is okay but you have to pay a $5 delivery fee. I didn't understand the purpose of that. The pizza on the beach was the best thing to eat on the resort. For the value, it worked. I would not stay here again just because I like a more adult vibe, more entertainment (i.e. onsite nightlife), better food and an updated environment. If you are parents and have kids and are on a budget, this is for you. If you are young and like to have fun, look elsewhere. Other than that, Los Cabos is BEAUTIFUL and we just bought a property while there. Plenty to do if you take $2 bus down to the marina. You can catch it across the street from the resort. It is SAFE and a $40 cab isn't necessary!

Worth the price!

For a low price, it's a deal. Things that I would suggest need improvement are the food, the service, and the quality of upkeep of the establishment. There was not a lot of variety with the food. For instance, no bacon at breakfast. What?? No milk out for dinner. Little things like that. The staff at the restaurants would barely come over. We had to get our own drinks several times. I thought that once they notice we tip, we'd get better service. Nope. I would use another hotel if I were to go to the Los Cabos area again. Riu Sante Fe had the same amount of palms, yet they have much more food choice and way better service. I would go there instead.

Family Resort, not for couples

The staff at this resort are super helpful and polite. It's a great resort for families with children 12 and under. There was only 2 pools and the biggest pool with the swim up bar was loaded with toddlers and young children. Small pool for adults only! There was 3 Restaurants and you had to be a member to use the others. We ate 1 dinner at the resort all week because our first experience was not good. Breakfast was the only meal we ate there...that wasn't that good. The alcohol was not premium and every mixed drink tasted like sweetener was added. We purchased our own Corona across the street. We rented a car so we could venture off and enjoy the town. Cabo San Lucas is not 11 miles away it's more like 40 miles away. It cost $40 for our cab ride...cheaper to rent a car. Bed was like sleeping on plywood but the rooms were super clean. We travel all the time and this vacation was disappointing. Cheap Caribbean staff were great and helpful. .thank god for that. The weather was beautiful and I'm glad we have been to Cabo l 2 times before so we knew how to navigate and experience Mexico outside this resort.

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive family fiesta on the beach with everything you want - and more.

The kids club with buckets of activities and the Noah's Ark waterpark for splishy-splashyness.

Descending into blissdom during a stress-smashing massage at the spa.

The relaxing pool for the adults where doing absolutely nothing is the main activity.

What We'd Change

The beach at Royal Solaris Cabo isn't swimmable, but it's a beautiful and romantic setting for a walk. And the whirlpools are a great place to just relax.

Why You Should Go

The airport is just 15 minutes from the airport. You'll have a cocktail before you can say "beach."

Don't miss horseback riding and whale watching between December and April. Bucket Listers, for sure.

Taking a boat ride out to get a gander of El Arco is a must-do. (No, really, it is.)

Bring your own thermal cup to the pool - they'll fill it. Bottoms up, beach lovers.
