Everything Awesome except Amstar

This was my second Cheap Caribbean trip to Mexico (different destinations) and I had a fabulous time celebrating my daughter's high school graduation! We had gorgeous views, clean and comfy rooms, and good fun at a great price. The only complaint I have is Amstar--the "travel agent" on site and transport company to and from airport: 1) They charged me an unauthorized $52 at the resort and told me they were refunding my money/their mistake but never did. 2) They no showed for our scheduled pick up to take us to the airport for our return flight. Thankfully the resort called us (and paid for) a taxi at the last minute or we would have missed our flight

Great Honeymoon

I must admit, I was a little skeptical about this resort because of some of the reviews, which were complaints about the staff being rude, the food being horrible, the pool closing early, the room smelled bad, or check in was a nightmare, etc... But because we just spent a lot of money on our wedding, this resort fit our budget. With that being said, here's is an honest review... The resort was really nice and very clean. Check-in went smooth and we were actually very pleased and appreciated that the gal who checked us in upgraded us to an Ocean view for FREE because it was our honeymoon, she didn't want us to have a garden view. Only because of the upgrade and the room was not ready yet, we had to wait 1 1/2 hrs, so we just walked around the resort to check it out and got a few margaritas...nothing to get irritated over, you have to make the best of your time and just go with the flow. The room was huge, we had a nice balcony, the room smelled just fine and it was nice the Tv had jazz music already on when we walked in, so it was relaxing. The pool BAR closed by 6pm, but the pool itself was still open for guest to swim and hang out. I thought they made the drinks a little to sweet at the pool bar, but the bar closest to the beach and inside the resort made it really good and strong. The beach is not swimable because the waves are rough and high, but it was still nice to relax on the chairs and hear the waves crash with a margarita in hand and my husband enjoyed his cigar. There are horses on the beach to ride, but not sure how much it cost. So with as picky as my husband is with food, he thought the food was good. There wasn't a day that we didn't like one thing, everything was decent and some dishes were amazing that we would go back for seconds. The only thing we had hard time with was booking a reservation for the sit/dine-in restaurants. We called in at 10am and it was already booked, so I recommend calling between 6-8am if you really want to eat at the fancier restaurants than the Buffett. You can get coffee inside the resort by the main lobby/bar. It's not bad at all, but you can also walk across the street from the resort to the RIGHT is a coffee shop called Gloria Jeans Coffee. It's really strong, but I just added a couple of splendas and I was good to go. So, if you are hesitating to book at Solaris because of some bad reviews you may have read like I did...I can assure you those are people who are most likely use to booking at 5 star hotels/resorts and have high expectations of eating at a exquisite restaurant or just way to picky. This is a perfect resort for a quick getaway, it's on the other side of Cabo San Lucas so it's more relaxing than partying. It is definitely budget friendly, staff is extremely nice and very helpful when booking excursions, and the food overall was very good. Hope this helps ease your stress and decision to book with Solaris.

Not happy

Our stay at Solaris was ok first night, not enough stuff going on here especially a weekend it was a bore. They recommended Ay bar but it sucked no one was threre but us till 12am. Then next day friend lost her wristband n they gave us such problems n first said $70 for new one then manager said $50. He prob kept for himself after we walked away. They had same food everyday at buffet n snack bar at nite was ok. We had a better time at Holiday Day inn last time we went San Jose. Will not return to this hotel.

5 day 4 night vacation

My husband and I had wanted to visit Cabo but never seemed to get a price that would fit the budget. This came up and we took a chance. The Royal Solaris is a wonderful all-inclusive facility with friendly, helpful staff. From the time we left everything we paid for was available. Thank you Cheap Caribbean!!!! We had no problems whatsoever. The only downside was the hotel's insistence to have you join their members only club. They were quite persistent and that was something that didn't set well with us but all in all we have a great vacation and will definitely book with Cheap Caribbean again and will recommend to our friends and family. Food was good and there were plenty of choices. Staff was very attentive.

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive family fiesta on the beach with everything you want - and more.

The kids club with buckets of activities and the Noah's Ark waterpark for splishy-splashyness.

Descending into blissdom during a stress-smashing massage at the spa.

The relaxing pool for the adults where doing absolutely nothing is the main activity.

What We'd Change

The beach at Royal Solaris Cabo isn't swimmable, but it's a beautiful and romantic setting for a walk. And the whirlpools are a great place to just relax.

Why You Should Go

The airport is just 15 minutes from the airport. You'll have a cocktail before you can say "beach."

Don't miss horseback riding and whale watching between December and April. Bucket Listers, for sure.

Taking a boat ride out to get a gander of El Arco is a must-do. (No, really, it is.)

Bring your own thermal cup to the pool - they'll fill it. Bottoms up, beach lovers.
