Horrified! The ceiling literally caved in!

My husband and I vacation every year. This was by far the worst experience we've ever had. Do not come here!! My husband got food poisoning. No, we didn't drink the water and my husband isn't much of a drinker, so it wasn't self-induced. After several phone calls the hotel finally sent their doctor and waved the fee (how considerate after poisoning him). The doctor confirmed it was something he ate and we had only eaten at the hotel. He wasted a day and a half in bed. He also broke his toe because they place the bathroom door stop in the middle of the walkway. The resort is absolutely full of little kids and college kids making it difficult to enjoy vacation as an silly couple. Most of the staff is amazing! However our room was not cleaned at all one day even though I politely called down to ask for service once it was dinnertime and nobody had come. Still, they did not clean it even after calling. The dining options were VERY limited. The outdoor place seems nice if you like sharing the buffet with the birds that hop around and help themselves. The Marco Polo is nice enough, but very limited on what they offer and the menu doesn't change. Then last, but not least... The ceiling in the main dining room literally caved in while we were there!! Luckily it happened during the inconvenient break when they don't offer dining between breakfast and lunch. Those of us in the outside pool area were showered with debris as we were horrified and couldn't get out of the way fast enough! Luckily the beams under the dining area didn't also collapse along with the dining room or else it would've fallen on my husband and I. I would never recommend this resort to anyone. Don't try to save money like we did.

If you want sleep, do not stay here

When I made my reservation, we requested 2 beds as there was 2 adults and 2 children. At check in, we were placed in a room with one bed that smelled like must and mildew. We asked about moving to a room with 2 beds and were told they were booked until Monday. They told us we could move on Monday but had to be out of our room by 11am and we could not move to our new room until 4pm!!! With two younger children, who still nap between 1 and 3pm, how are we supposed to not go to our room between 11 and 4?? Now after we moved rooms, you could smell sewage from the bathroom floor grates. So we went from bad to worse! And to top it off, the mattress was like sleeping on a piece of plywood, actually plywood would have been more comfortable! Neither my husband nor I got much sleep on those mattresses because they were so hard you had to keep shifting and moving to avoid the pain on your body. They also attempt to get you to join their "membership" program, which is almost exactly like a timeshare. We wasted 3 hours of our time even after we told the first two salesmen we were not interested. They literally had 4 different people attempt to sell us their "membership". It was complete torture! The only compliment I will give this resort is the people- our concierge was awesome as well as our regular dining personnel whom we had at breakfast and dinner most days and nights. The water slides/kids area was great. My two boys had a blast. We didn't frequent many of the other pools as they were too deep for our boys. The food was okay, at best. Some of the food was not cooked thoroughly and there wasn't too much to really choose from, like main foods such meats.

No shrimp hotel

The service is excellent, especially Jose at Marco Polo restaurant. Sandy beach and nice pool Food is ok, shrimp and lobster is extra on top of all inclusive, only offer cheap Mexican beer, cocktail is water down and minibar in room only have water, Sosa, and cheap beer without any snack. Room is dated and smelling bad. Our group is 11 people/5 rooms. We would not come back to this hotel.

Great Vacation

Loved the resort. Hotel was just like the pictures online. It was humid, so best you leave your AC on otherewise the floor gets really slipery in your room. Love the easy access to the pools and the beach. All staff was really nice. Had no problems, staff was very friendly. The only thing, the pool bar closed too early. Food wise, the restaurant La Fuente, i honestly didn't really like their food. But their desserts were delicious. But food wise the main dish and the pastas not a big fan of their menu their. The buffet near the pool, was good as well, the pizza place near the pool, the food there was delicious as well. Unfortunately did not get the opportunity to make reservations to the other restaurant. It was my first time in Cancun, love the hotel except the food at the La Fuente restaurant, but the staff at the La Fuente, they were great. They have really good service.

What's to Love

The breathtaking sands and turquoise waters are some of the prettiest we ever seen. Bonus: the tranquil waves that whisper your name for an afternoon swim.

Made-to-order, scrumptious brick oven pizzas served by the pool (lunch with a killer view always wins.)

Check out the theatre - a smorgasboard of shows, including comedy, Broadyway, Mayan and more. It's different each night!

Tons of super fun activities for the young ones - each day is a different theme - Tuesdays are Pirate Days (Aye, Matey!)

Full-service stress-ousting spa where you are fussed over and pampered.

What We'd Change

The resort is busy, active and you might see lots of fun families - keep this in mind if you're looking for lots of peace and quiet.

Why You Should Go

In the heart of Cancun's Hotel Zone - once you land, you'll be soaking in the sweet sun beachside in no time.

Swoon-worthy views of the Caribbean Sea from almost every spot at the resort.

For those that want to kick it up a notch and party in Cancun, a one-way shuttle will take you into town. (Your secrets are safe with us).

The two-level pool is full of nooks and crannies to explore so you can find the best spot to spend your day.

A mini-water park is a major hit with your little angels (and a hit with you - they will be happily worn out.)
