First to Mexico and an All-Inclusive Resort
I went to the Royal Playa with a friend for a Girls Getaway. We went for 4 days and 3 nights. The food was amazing and the staff catered to our every whim. The alcohol was flowing 24 hours a day. There were excellent performers in the lobby every night. There was a lot of rain while we were away, so several of the planned activities were cancelled due to the weather at the resort. The vendors were quite aggressive in Mexico, but we were very safe the entire time we were away. We did lose power for about 20 minutes and there were no back-up generators. This was very strange, but overall I highly recommend this resort.
Service was 5 star all the way.

Food is a 4 at best, good quality but limited selection and variation between restuarants. Same spices everywhere, that got old quickly.
Breakfast and lunch at "spices buffet" was fine but I was not thrilled with dinner meals and dishes (not food quality but spicing was all to common) everything tasted like it was seasoned with tortia chips.
Lobster was an upgrade all week and when I finally ordered it was overcooked witht the same spicing. Lots of beef chicken and pork, did not have a decent peice of fresh fish all week???
No pool snack bar???
Very Accomodating Staff.
They should do away with the "Tme Share" or as they call it "Membership" shuffle at the Hotel. the Airport was bad enough and to have them Lie to you at the hotel after a day of travel is to much.

the place was perfect, BUT the time share presentation was HARD CORE AND FULL ON CLOSING BY CARLOS. But we are New Yorkers and they didnt know who they were dealing with. They showed us 2 options of 80K and 59K to be put on your Credit Card .....LOL needless to say we got up and walked out as they followed us out of the room and still tried to close us. We laughed at them and showed them our backs. The resort was great the sales presentation A JOKE.
I really enjoyed our vacation thoroughly with my sister and my two Best Friends. Everything about it was exceptional and I will definetly be going on a Vacation there again soon. It is a Beautiful Resort! Comfortable, clean and excellent service. Beautiful Beach and I Love 5th Avenue. We had no problems and Cheap Carribean did a good job.

Interested in possibly topless beaches, not necessary though. Although, not really interested in nude beaches.

THis is not the resort for topless ( the ROYAL in playa del carmen i mean) , This beach is NOT private and the Pier /ferry is right next door where tons of people board the ferry to cozumel .... I dont know of any beaches that have nude out there ...it was my first visit so i couldnt say ...sorry

There's a lot to love about this hotel....the rooms, the service, the amenities, the food, the location. The Royal Service upgrade is definately worth it: twice daily maid service, pillow menu, iPod use and in some cases the use of a Mini Cooper. The two person jacuzzi is standard in every room here....what a great way to unwind after a stroll down 5th Avenue which is located steps from the front door.

The beach here is a little active but still lends to a great place to relax.
Why You Should Go
Riviera Maya......so much to do or do nothing at all.....THE ROYAL Playa del Carmen is set steps away from the center of the Bohemian Playa del Carmen but still offers a couples santuary in the middle of it all.
