Best Adults only I've been to so far!

I had a really good time at this place. My favorite part by far was the pool bar area. Great service from the bartenders and great entertainment from the animators. Definitely more of a party atmosphere but great for singles and couples. The food at the buffet was pretty good. I did not get a chance to visit the restaurants however. The first couple nights the disco was just ok but the DJ changed the music and made the experience much more enjoyable. The beach was very clean and gorgeous. The staff was great. I have no issues with this plane and will definitely be going back! I do wish there was a hot tub outside however.

Not the greatest place

We had switched over from another Riu resort because we thought that adults only would be nicer. I imagined it would have been except for all the adults got really drunk here. I think the children would have been better to handle. Service was slow at the bars and the liquor was TERRIBLE. Watered down liquor and bottom shelf stuff, not even a brand name. I expected more out a Riu. Even if we tipped, the service was bad. Bartenders were rude and picky on who they served. Room: Was ok. Bathroom products were just refilled not new products. It grossed me out. Bed was comfortable but AC didn't work so well. Beach: Atlantic side. Heavy waves and very crowded. Had to search for a few minutes to find chairs. Sand is beautiful but it gets EVERYWHERE! Pools: Main pool (party pool): hot mess. Drunk people everywhere. The pool furthest away was nice but again with the service, ugh. Quiet though. Restaurants: Buffet was ok, not a big fan. Sit down places were very nice and food was good. Cheap wine. Overall: It was ok to get off the grid, probably won't go back for that money. NOTES: Wifi was awesome! You have to pay $10pp to get into the country.... Can't bring anything in carry on to eat while waiting for flights back. Do the Monkey Land and Ziplining excursions as well as the Saona Island VIP, worth the money and a great time. Bring cash for tips, everyone expects and asks for them ALL the time. Kind of a turn off.

Quick, fun getaway

My husband and I hadn't been away in six years since our honeymoon. With that being said, I think I expected more of a romantic four-night getaway and I wouldn't necessarily put this resort under that category. BUT if you're looking for unlimited fun & entertainment- this is your place! The entertainment staff was great with the guests, they came around & asked you to be a part of games, dancing and all of the fun. There's PLENTY of alcohol- from breakfast to the early hours of the morning. I never saw anyone get sloppy, everyone just truly did have a great time! This is the perfect place for a girls/guys/couples trip. We were worried about the food since most reviews warned us of it. There are tons of dining options: a buffet for all three meals, an Asian and Italian buffet (Ital open for lunch and dinner), a steakhouse & Kulinarium- which was a nice seafood restaurant. The actual food was hit or miss- we liked the Asian buffet the best. Nothing was ever "disgusting", just more so bland. The staff was always friendly, the language barrier only caused a problem once. Our room was clean, had an awesome "open concept" shower- the downfall was the bed, just not as comfy as I wanted it to be. The resort was always well kept with beautiful decor throughout. We got a couples stone massage at the spa and it was fantastic! The beach was gorgeous & there were always chairs available at any of the three pools and out at the beach. All in all, I was really happy with our trip and would recommend this resort to friends! We were also told by a local that this resort would definitely be in the top 10 in Punta Cana- win, win!

Family trip!

Entertainment staff was phenomenal! Food option were fair. Wish there was more service restaurants and selection. Rooms were nice some issues with AC but was fixed. Servers, Waitstaff, bartenders were excellent. Pool was great and so much fun! Wish there was service on the beach. Spa is OK. Resorts staff language barrier was very hard to communicate. Need to be bilingual.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

A palatial retreat where the mixin' and the minglin' is only with adults - no kids or crying babies at this resort.

You're located on Dominican's Macoa Beach - the mind-boggling ocean views go on for days.

Taking the introductory scuba lesson (it happens in the pool) - you'll be ready for the ocean waters in no time.

The pools are spacious - you won't bump into each other - no one wants to be that close (especially if the bathrooms are faraway).

When you're ready for your next cocktail, all you have to do is just swim on over to the bar.

Detoxing in the steam bath at the gym (all those icky work impurities will stream out of your pores).

The whirlpool bath that makes you feel like a jelly fish.

What We'd Change

The resort is large, but you really don't feel crowded and the restaurants can accommodate everyone easily and there is plenty of room at the pools.

Why You Should Go

So close to the airport you'll land and be at the resort in a flash - you want your vacay to start immediately!

The Mediterranean-style village Altos de Chavon is near - authentic architecture, swoon-worthy boutiques, cafes & more.

Also in Altos de Chavon, check the Amphitheatre for Kandela! - don't miss this Caribbean musical review.

See the lush landscapes at the Punta Cana Ecological Reserve: plants, animals, coral reef, freshwater lagoons & more.

Hone your golf skills and tune up your tennis swing - both are available near the resort.
