When you're ready for a little rest and relaxation, head to the renovated, Victorian-style Riu Palace Tropical Bay in Negril, Jamaica. This beachfront, all inclusive resort sits on the soft, ivory sands of famed Bloody Bay Beach. Despite its grisly name, the tranquil waters of the bay are so clear you'd swear they came straight out of the tap. The calm setting is ideal for daily water aerobics hosted by resort staff or for simply enjoying the serenity as you work on your tan. Though just as beautiful as the more popular Seven Mile Beach, Bloody Bay Beach is less crowded and offers resort guests the feeling that they have paradise to themselves.

Great Sunsets
A little bit of information on the Riu Tropical Palace in Nigril... It took a 2 hour bus ride to get there! The traffic and driving in Jamaica is crazy. We would not recommend doing it yourself. The beach is large and beautiful with calm waters everyday. They even have life gaurds during the day but the water is pretty shallow. Just prepare yourself for all kinds of "salesmen" pedaling anything and everything everyday on the beach. But if you sit back it appears they cannot cross an imaginary line on the beach. After awhile you can make it a comedy show. The sunsets are not to be missed. The resteraunts were hard to get into. We think it had to do with weddings everyday at the resort but not sure on that one. Some people we talked to ate at the Japenese resteraunt and got sick later. We only ate at the Steakhouse and it was good. The buffet is a buffet but very large and usually good. If you go to the evening buffet say hello to Alowayne, he is a terrific waiter! Our room was an "ocean view" but that was litterally a stretch. Our clock and bottle opener were broke in our room as well. We asked for a king size bed and they slid two beds together so we could fall through the crack every night. The room smells musty/moldy, there were ants in the bathroom and mesquitos too. It seems that they run short on wash cloths everyday because we had a hard time getting them. We called the front desk for extra pillows twice and finally had to leave a note and tip for the maid to get anything. By the afternoon don't plan on getting a fresh beach towel because they had a hard time keeping up on them too. The fully stocked fridge with beer, pop, and water was great! If you wanted wine they would give you that too. The enterainment crew works hard to do their job. We personally enjoyed the Mix Max show and the Steel Drum show. Andrew at the swim up bar makes an awesome drink but the bar by the stage in general makes better drinks. In general it's a nice resort for a beautiful getaway.
So first let me start off by saying I read all the reviews on RIU Palace before booking my honeymoon. A friend told me that the place was nice for the price and it sure was! As my wife and I went on excursions and met other couples that stayed in Couples Resorts, Sandals, and etc, we noticed that all the complaints were similar. Either the food wasnt that great or service. Sandra made sure everything was perfect for my wife and I. She upgraded us to an ocean front suite for a small fee of course but it was defintely worth it! Kamar was a great guy as well and we made sure whenever we sat down and ate that Kamar was our waiter! Great guy and great place! I really want to book again for our 1 year anniversary but the price is just too expensive. Great trip if you get a good price for it!
This resort had it all - comfort, service, beauty, fun, food, great alcohol and staff. We couldn't have asked for a better trip to Negril, we definitely will be returning. For the price a single mom can afford, we got treated like queens. The beach is the best I've been on, white soft sand, shallow clear water, spacious, never a problem to find a chair. The swim up bar is always hoppin and very fun. The drinks are not weak by any means. I felt very safe here and would recommend anyone to visit here.
This was our second time staying here. There were a few changes since our last stay (last year). The dinner at the buffet is now mostly "International" every night. There used to be different nationality cuisines every night - Mexican night, Italian night, etc. The food choices are ample, though not exactly 5 star. Don't expect any lobster or even shrimp for that matter. The servers work extremely hard and deserve whatever tips they get. (Please tip if you vacation here.)
The people and services are mostly outstanding. Unfortunately, our refrigerator would only be refilled if we placed a "tip" in it - this was disappointing.
One downside - Our mattress was a bit hard and my husband had a back ache every day.
No major complaints. The resort was exceptionally clean and well kept. The beach is raked and cleaned every day.
