This was one of the best Caribbean Vacations I have had in a long time. I was very happy with Cheap Caribbean.com. The planning by them was fabulous. The Riu Palace was amazing in all ways too!! It was very clean, sevice was great, the staff was always pleasant and helpful, our room was always made up nicely and early in the day, the food was awesome. I just can't say enough good things about this trip. Honestly, I have nothing negative either to say.

The staff was extremely friendly and polite. The pool is very nice with a great view of the beach. It's a pleasant smaller style resort where you are able to walk the entire premise without having to be driven around. The food was good but there are limited options since this is a smaller type resort but the buffet is full of good choices. The beach is beautiful and the water was perfect. We did luck out with excellent weather for our 6 day stay with the exception of a ten minute rainstorm one morning. The jet skis are fun and they do offer excursions. All in all a nice getaway from our northeast winter.

Good but not great hotel

We stayed for 5 days at the RIU Palace in St Martin. Overall, the resort is a pleasant but unimpressive. While it may be one of the nicer places on the island, it looks tired and dated. The good: - The beach is peaceful and tranquil - The all inclusive restaurants were excellent and much better than others we experienced on different islands - The head chef went out of his way to accommodate a last minute request and did so without any issue. The bad: - The hotel reopened in 2014 and it still looks like they are working to get it back to the level of othe RIU Palaces. The decor is tired and well worn - The shower is very strange as the glass door only covers half the tub. Water from the shower goes all over the floor. - You have to line up for a dinner reservation. If you are late, you can't get a reservation and will have to eat at the buffet The strange - The resort doesn't have an actual hot tub. Instead, it has a "bubbles" tub that is barely warmer than the regular pool - They will only give you one room key. The stated reason is that they want to be more eco friendly and count down on the use of plastic. This makes sense until you see that they pour all of their drinks in plastic cups. - The towel return closes at 5 pm which is before sunset. Many people were stuck with wet towels at the end of the day.

The island is a dream

By far the most beautiful island I have ever visited. T was like a dream. The resort was not bad. The room can use a face lift not so modern. The good isn't the greatest, aren't really much options. I was told there would be a nice formal restaurant but it wasn't open the whole time I was there. On my last day I requested a late check out because my flight was later on and they wouldn't let me. Got into it with them a little, but regardless it was such a beautiful island and I spent so much time at the Beach that I don't think it mattered. The "entertainment" options are a joke tho lol so maybe rent a car and explore if u decide to stay here.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

It's a swanky destination in a Caribbean fav. St Martin is oooo la la chic.

Riu sits on the jaw-dropping Anse Marcel Beach - this crescent-shaped beach dazzles in white and blue.

The paths around the resort are perfect for daytime, afternoon and evening strolls.

Staying in and dining on the balcony is always a fav - 24-hour room service lets you dine at all hours.

Got the kiddos? Perfect. Let them have their own fun at the kid's club. You get much needed spa time.

What We'd Change

Some say it's a bit isolated, but we think it's the perfect escape. If you want to see the island, you may want to rent a car.

Why You Should Go

Nestled on the French side of St Martin. The 45-minute drive from the airport is worth the tres awe-mazing views.

It's a vibrant yachting destination - carve out some time to ogle at the chic boats in the marina.

There's live music at the resort a few times a week. Get your cocktail and enjoy the local sounds of the island.

The Iguana's by the pool are harmless picture-worthy creatures and add to the natural landscape.

Nature reserves are near the resort - hiking the trails and snorkeling the bright blue seas is a must.
