Very good experience

Stayed at riu peninsula for 7 days. Overall great experience. Bernardo the poolside bartender was AWESOME! Ordered room service breakfast every morning which was great and very convenient BUT not once did they get our order 100% right, even though all we had to write was 1 or 2 orders of a certain food. Great experience with overnight room service though, order was 100% right and delicious. Great choice of multiple pools to go in. Downfall is the beach was kind of small and there are many rocks/coral formations to climb over/down to get into water on a lot of areas. Despite the small beach it was never over crowded. Though it was unpleasant having to walk over the Rocky surface it was pretty cool to look at and a great picture taking opportunity. Some private sellers on beach but nothing to overwhelming. The coffee restaurant/bar was amazing! Try their iced coffee, it is made with ice coffee.. MIND BLOWN.. Extreme cleanliness here. Some one is always cleaning something. Bathrooms were clean and did not smell bad. Great chances to eat at thees various restaurants inside resort. Very delicious. Great sushi. Great workers here overall. Many activities to do. Overall would highly recommend and we'll probably be coming back again! :)

Okay

I was their the first week of April and I loved the hotel itself. It so pretty and service is amazing. We got a jr suite with room balcony on floor 16. Amazing view. Now the bad part. The food was okay. They try to hard to make the food Americanized that it's so hard to eat. The tub in our room was rusty. Our shower door never closed. Our fridge never got cold. It's an okay place. The usual drinks are watered down but the chips were good at the bar.

Kids Spring Break

very pleased with the layout of the pool/outside activities area. My boys 8, 10 were able to get around without me worrying. Lots of activities to do during the day. The kids particularly liked the crazy games and the foam party. 2 of the three elevators were out while we were there, it wasn't too bad because we were on the 4th floor so we could walk and get in and out quicker. The size of the beds in the room are way too small for two adults or an adult and a child.

Excellent

No issues with transportation to and from the RIU. Just remember to keep walking until you get outside, don't stop. Everything was excellent! From the time we arrived until the day we left. Every room faces the beach. I've been to lots of nice hotels and this was my 5th visit to Mexico. RIU is one the best. This was also our 22nd Anniversary and they left champagne in the room two days in row. They also inviting us to one of there exclusive restaurants. There was always workers keeping the resorts clean to include the beach. The buffet selection was huge and the staff was on top of there game! I love the read negative reviews just for laughs, but this place was all good. We will return!!

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

The uber dazzling stretch of white sand, tropical flora and crystal clear aquamarine water.

Stress-ousting massages, steam baths and saunas at the delicious spa. It's a Melt-a-thon.

RiuLand - supervised activities for kids 4-12 while you get your drink & relaxation on.

The day trip to Isla Mujeres to see the sea turtles and all the electrically colorful fish.

The more-than-delish Mexican nosh spot and steakhouse. (Nom, nom, nom.)

Renting a moped or scooter and tooling around, taking in all the natural beauty.

Getting a bottle of tequila sent to your room for your birthday.

What We'd Change

While the nightly entertainment may not be for everyone, you are close enough to the heart of Cancun to find something that will strike your fancy.

Why You Should Go

It's just 13 miles away from the airport so that Beach Relief aka Your Vacay will start before you know it.

Mayan ruins are on site and near (Chichen Itza). For history buffs, it's a great dose of antiquity.

The resort is off-the-beaten path, but you can hope on a shuttle to the hot spots in Cancun.

There are oceans of water sports: kayaking, snorkeling, windsurfing and more.

When you're not in the luscious ocean, you can hit the gym or play beach volley ball.

Travelers report excellent service, that you'll feel like Beach Royalty. (It's a palace, after all.)

You can rent jet skis and for a fee, go scuba diving. Take the plunge.
