GREAT HOTEL
Loved this hotel and to it's proxcimity to the Atlantis Hotel and to town. Service, drinks and the food were wonderful. Loved our room, as we were on the top floor with beautiful views of the Caribbean and the pool.
Great price for an all inclusive resort...multiple restaurants and bars in the hotel to chose from, with everything the Atlantis has to offer right next door! The rooms were super clean, and the staff was very friendly.

loved it
we really enjoyed our stay on paradise island at the riu. we definelty would try to stay at a riu other places as well. The service was great, the rooms were great, everything was very clean! I would definetly recommend it! and also this website is awesome too! have found some of the best deals!
I'm from Chile and after the trip I realized why the Bahamas is not a common destination for south americans...the only way to get there iis through the States. Anyway, we took advantage of our status in the US and went to the Bahamas for a week.
The hotel was OK, a lot of americans were compaining on how hot it was, but come on!, "July" and "Bahamas" I think you would expect it to be hot, besides I think they are too use to the freezing air conditioner so probably it wouldn't be a big issue for other tourists (the air conditioer at the hotel rooms didn't work well but it was good enough, we slept like babies every night).
The Hotel is not as spectacular as we expected but the rooms were comfortable and clean and the mini fringe was refilled every day. The quality of the drinks was outstanding, they have a broad variety and make every mixed drink you can imagine. The lunch buffet was average, enough variaty of food, but nothing outstanding, good enough to go though the day after having a good breakfast (this buffet was very complete and nice, french toasts were awesone!). We only ate dinner at the buffet once and it was really good, specialy the sea food, the rest of the nights we hit the specialty restaurants which were definetily the best choice. Our favorite was the japanaise restaurant, the beef was outstanding and very well served. Great quality of food and awesome chefs, the mixture of flavors in each one of the "a la carte" restaurants was spectacular.
Last but not least, the beach, this was our personal favorite, is just amazing, definetily the best one I've been to (better thah Cancun and Punta Cana).Cristal water, nice sand and pretty fish! Take your gogles and a piece of bread if you want to take a look at the fish swiming right there!. The pool was OK, too warm because of how hot it was I guess but the beach is right there so you do have options. The only bad thing is that there weren't enough umbrellas to get shade. THe sun is really strong so you would get tan even if you're under the umbrella so probably the hotel should consider providing more spaces with good shade (optional, for those who like to get fried at the sun for hours).
Another negative comment would be againt the package we purchased, it included a 2 hour SUnset Tour but we weren't able to find the agency, we finally didn't go as the contact number for the agency was an international call to St Marteen and nobody at the Hotel new the tour supplier...just to have in mind.
I would definetily recomend this destination and the Hotel as well, we wanted to relax and we did! lay down in the water drinking mojitos and good food...our ideal vacation!

There are no horseback riding tours offered as part of the packages to the Bahamas, however you might be able to get some additional information regarding other excursions available in the area through the Bahamas Tourism website - www.bahamas.com.
KateB
We did not select this trip, but I did talk to another vacationer who had done a horse ride along the beach and they said it was awesome.

The casino is in the Atlantis complex. The Atlantis is just across the entrance way, 2 min walk from door to door. Once you get into the Atlantis, it's about a 5 min walk thru their building. their is an Atlantis entrance closer to the actual casino, and you could easily get a taxi from the front door of the Riu to that entrance if you have trouble walking.

What is the difference in a Jr. Suite Oceanview and a Jr. Suite Superior Oceanview? Does anyone that has stayed at the Riu Palace know?
twobutlers
My daughter and her boyfriend stayed their last month and the only difference was that the Superior had jacuzzi tub in the room in a winding staircase but the layout of the room was identical so they stayed in the junior suite instead of paying the extra money. Wasn't worth it just for the tub.
Frequency: 3 - 4 times
LouF1954
I think it is close to the water.
Happyinparadise
I stayed there in October in a superior ocean view, and was on the 10th floor. Last weekend I stayed in the plain oceanview, and was on the 4th floor. Same side of the building, just on a lower floor. Room was the same.....amazing and the view was the same.

the difference is the size of patio and position in jr suite you are able to sea ocean and a great view the other is straight away we stayed in jr suite you are really out enjoying the scenery more than from your room
icky54
I assume Superior Oceanview means better view of the ocean and probably a few dollars more per day. It may be a classification used by the hotel for different types of rooms.

I believe its a more spacious room - with a larger balcony closer to the ocean view - hotel sits vertical to ocean so the more expensive room is almost as close as you can get to the ocean. Room/Balcony def larger.

Superior means you get the best view of the ocean because technically every room seems to have some view of the ocean even if from the side.

Sparkles
The superior sweet is the end room on each floor so there is only 1 per floor, and the room is much larger, with a huge balcony! But really the junior sweet is very big with a huge bed and balcony, so it's not really worth the money for the bigger room, unless you have kids.
DDan4th
I'm not definite. But I believe that all the rooms are the same. The difference might be how much of an oceanview you may receive. I think the Superior Oceanview rooms are on the 11-15th floors where the Jr Suites are the lower floors.
cberry
The superior gives you 1 extra chair in the same sized room...LOL
FrequentFlyer
I just stayed there and my answer is that the Oceanview has a side angled view of the ocean (still good) and the Superior Oceanview has a more front facing view.

why does the pool close so early????4 answers

becky
Hi Becky,
Rest assured, you are able to use the pools after 6PM. The lifeguards leave for the day at that time and any swimming after that hour is permissable but at your own risk. Additionally, the beach never closes!
ccsusan1
Any all-inclusive I've been to in the Caribbean all close around 6:00.
I think it's for the better, can you imagine all the drunks that would be partying. Not to say I.m not a drinker but all day at the pool drinking is enough for me.
There might be insurance issues too.
naha54
The pool is open, but just at your own risk. I saw some people in the pool even after dinner sometimes. Just bring your towels back the next day to make sure that you receive your towel cards.
cberry
Very good question! We asked ourselves the exact same question when we were there. It closes at 6pm and there are no lights in the pool for night swims. If I were to guess, I would say they are catering more to the wants of the staff than to the customer. I would email them that question.
