My Letter to the Hotel
Amazing place. This was our second year. The hotel is beautiful and clean. The food is wonderful. The people that work there are the best in the business!

Not So Great
We have stayed at this resort many times, but were amazed at the disrepair the overall property was in. The resort remains clean, but not well maintaned. The suite we stayed in was musty smelling, with one of the AC units not working.
The availability of dining for evening was horrible. The resort ask that you make your reservations for dinner 24 hrs before. We were there each morning by 8:30 for the FOLLOWING evenings reservations and were told that all restaurants were booked. The buffet food was just average.
The hotel chain has mini-bars set up in each room with vodka, tequila, rum, and brandy. There was only one item in the bar that we drink and ask the staff to switch out one of the others for an item that we might actually drink but were told it was not allowed.
Would not return to this resort.

Awesome trip!
We visted the Riu Palace Las Americas from 2/22-27 and had a blast! The staff there took such good care of us from the second we checked in to the time we left. We loved that the hardest decision we had to make the whole time was Beach or Pool?? The cleanliness of the resort was outstanding. Our room was serviced daily + the public areas sparkled. The restaurants were for the most part delicious, providing great choices for all ages + with a variety of cuisines. We were disappointed in the Mexican restaurant on site and wouldn't feel it necessary to schedule a reservation there upon a return trip. Good thing the buffet at both lunch + dinner took care of my daily guacamole craving!
We traveled with our 5 y.o. daughter + the staff doted on her the entire trip. She had fun at the nightly kids disco and enjoyed the poolside arts+crafts daily. The bar tenders treated her royally each day, giving her a new favorite drink, a Miami Vice (non-alcoholic frozen drink combining strawberry daiquiri mix with pina colada mix).
This is a great resort for singles, couples and families. Perfect setting for a destination wedding (we saw 2 beautiful beach-side weddings while there) or just to relax, which we did. We'll be back!

Hotel Description
Riu Palace Las Americas, Cancun: Award-Winning Opulence at a Bargain Price
When it's time for self-pampering at a great price, choose Riu Palace Las Americas Resort in Cancun. Located in the heart of the hotel district, this resort was recently awarded an AAA Four Diamond Award, for superior amenities and service.
Take advantage of umbrellas and towel service at the pool, where you'll love the Jacuzzi, swim-up bar and child-safe area. Or sink your toes into the soft sand at exclusive Caracol Beach, and spend the day watching the sea reflecting shades of blue you didn't know existed.
When it's time to release your inner adventurer, try your hand at windsurfing, canoeing or snorkeling. The all inclusive deal even includes a scuba lesson in the pool. Or fuel your competitive spirit with a game of table tennis or beach volleyball. The gym offers a sauna for a post-workout gift to your muscles. And since no vacation is complete without a little extra pampering, we think you should definitely schedule a massage and facial at Renova Spa at this Riu Palace.
A Cancun vacation deserves excellent dining, and the six restaurants feature an eclectic mix of international cuisine. Sakura offers Japanese teppanyaki and sushi, while Los Arcos dishes up both Italian and Brazilian tapas. Or head over to El Romero, near the pool, where the combination of sizzling steaks and ocean breezes combine to create an intoxicating scent to enhance your appetite.
The package deal includes privileges at neighboring Riu Cancun, where you can shake your stress away at the Disco Pacha. Or head into nearby Cancun for an evening of Caribbean nightlife.
Riu Palace makes Cancun a great base to take advantage of the many island adventures. We suggest you trek over to the pyramids of Kukulkan, in Chechen Itza, where you can spend a day with the ancient Mayans. Or if you prefer the company of smiling mammals and indelible memories, book a swim with the dolphins. Then prepare for sweet dreams when you drift to sleep in a Suite Ocean View, because tomorrow, you'll get to do it all again!
