My boyfriend and I just got back from a 6 day 5 night stay in March. Overall we had a great time, was better then we thought. The resort is so beautiful and everything is pretty close together. You can be sitting at the pool and then turn around and walk down to the beach in a minute. My boyfriend called a week before we arrived and arranged transportation through the number cheap Caribbean provided and we had no issues finding them when we arrived, (be prepared to pay a $10 fee for entering the country) we had cash for tips so this didn't throw us to much. We brought $100 in ones for tipping, I read in previous reviews that people noticed better service when tipping and to just show gratitude. Personally we did not see any difference in service with tipping except for the room. they always cleaned it up very nicely and would leave towel animals, balloons, and flowers in our room except for one day when we forgot to leave the tip out. Service overall was good, loved Rafael one of the pool bartenders, he was very personably and always sought us out of we came up to the bar. All of the waiters with food and drink are very timely and are always making sure there is a full drink in your hand The only issue I did have was the bar tender at the entertainment area, he kept refusing to serve me alcohol claiming I wasn't old enough (I am 26) and would only serve me virgin drinks. While flattering the first time it was a little frustrating since I was here on vacation and paid for all inclusive and was not receiving service, but we just sat at the tables from then on and had no issues with the waiters. The food was good, our favorite restaurant was Krystal we ate there twice including our last dinner. the ceviche app and beef tenderloin main dish was our favorite meal. All of the buffets had a great variety of food and we were never disappointed. The pool was amazing! It was never to crowded, the water felt great and the swim up bar was a big plus! Not to mention that it is so close to the beach. The beach was also amazing! never had an issue getting a lounge chair. The water is so clear and the temperature was perfect, I could have spent my days in the ocean and still have had the best vacation. We did one excursion through the kiosk at the pool (was cheaper to book there then the people in the lobby) this was our favorite part of the trip. we left at 10:30am on a boat with a small group of people, our first stop was snorkeling, then we went to a wildlife area and swam with sting rays and sharks, then they take you to a natural pool area and you can get out and swim, they bring out drinks and snacks. It was so much fun! The entertainment staff at the resort was great and very dedicated, they were out and about by 10am leading activities through out the day and then leading the entertainment at night until close to midnight. It was always the same group, which was cool because you became familiar with them and also to appreciate the time that they put into the entertainment. It was a wonderful vacation and we have even talked about coming back and staying at the Riu Palace Bavaro again.

Pretty resort beautiful beach

The resort has a gorgeous well maintained beach & beautiful immaculate pools & grounds. The restaurants are decent. Nancy in the lobby was an awesome bartender. Raphael and his crew at the pool bar also went out of their way to make your experience great. The food is okay and enough variety. Restaurants seat you right away. No reservations needed. The resort only really lacks more night life/entertainment options. It is certainly a great option for older adults and families. Or those looking for a quiet relaxing time.

Beautiful Beach

The beach and pool was very nice. It was very windy 50% of the time. So windy that you couldn't actually sit by the beach. The pool area was protected so there was another option in a windy day. Check in went smoothly and quick. When we arrived to our room the fridge wasn't working and all the batteries were out of romotes and clocks. These issues were fixed about 30 hours later. I loved the meeting with the amstar at the hotel the next morning they didn't push but explained excursion options and were helpful when it comes to staying safe outside of the resort. I liked that we didn't need to make dining reservations but the food was not always warm. It could have been better. I did like the buffets. The entertainment was always set up outside so when it was windy and rainy you were wet and cold. We enjoyed walking along the beach everyday. The sand was amazing.

Relaxing Stay at a Great Price

My wife and I had a great time at the Riu Palace Bavaro in Punta Cana. It was very relaxing as the staff was eager to please. Our room was very spacious and we had a large balcony that overlooked the pool and the ocean. We had a chance to walk the beach and see the other Riu Hotels which were located next to each other along the beach. We had access to the other hotels' eating facilities. We ate a the steak house and Italian restaurant along with the main buffet restaurant. We had a problem with our door as the key card wouldn't work. A worker came and after an hour found that he couldn't easily fix it so they upgraded our room for no charge and had someone move all our belongings to the new room. When we have visited other hotels there's always an issue at the pool or beach where there's never enough lounges for everyone. That was not the case here as there were plenty of chairs and lounges for everyone. Maybe it was because we visited in January during the slow season but we never had to wait at the restaurants or anywhere at the hotel as they had ample staff. The booking process was very easy and we were able to customize our vacation to meet our needs. We would certainly use Cheap Caribbean again and highly recommend it.
