The flight from JFK was uneventful and on time . We were met at the airport in a timely fashion. We were met at the hotel and the personal took our bags which allowed us to have a refreshing glass of champaign. Check in went smoothly so we had plenty of time to eat and hit the beach. The food ,no matter where we ate was fantastic. I couldn't get over the variety which changed daily. everyone was friendly and seemed to go out of their way to accommodate us. I would go back again and would also recommend this hotel and the package deal to anyone.

One happy island and resort

My husband and I just returned from a week vacation at Riu Palace Aruba and we cannot wait to return. The resort left us wanting for nothing. Great accommodations, location, food, drinks, staff, beach, pool, and entertainment. We have stayed at several different all inclusives in three different countries and this one has been our favorite so far. It has the best food, location, and beach of any of our AI experiences and it is by far the cleanest AI we've ever stayed at. We ate at one of the buffets each day for lunch and definitely enjoyed the bigger one close to the lobby more than we enjoyed the one down by the beach but it wasn't bad, especially when we wanted something quick so that we could get back out to the beach. We also ate at all four of the restaurants at some point for dinner and enjoyed them all, however, our favorite was Krystal Fusion and our least favorite was the steak house. The service in the restaurants and at the bars was attentive and service to our room was spectacular. When we first arrived, we couldn't find the TV remote. I called the front desk and they had someone there in less than 5 minutes bringing us a new one. Later, we figured out that our safe wasn't working, called back and the guy was there within 10 minutes to repair it. He had to take the door off and go replace the motor. He asked if we were trying to go somewhere and since we were, he said he'd be as fast as he could. Everything was repaired within 30 minutes. Our room was spacious and had a wonderful view that looked over the back of the other Riu Palace. When we first got there it seemed like just a normal view but then the sunset came and we had a front row seat on our balcony and it was stellar. We made sure we were back in our room each evening before sunset so that we could enjoy the view. Riu is definitely a lively place. Music and activities go on throughout the day at the pool and the shows at night are pretty loud. We usually attended the shows but one night we went back to the room early and could hear it loud and clear from our room, so if you are looking for a lot of peace and quiet on your vacation, this may not be the spot for you but if you are in the mood for a good time, a good party, and some good people watching, this is definitely your ticket. We are so glad we chose the Riu Palace Aruba for our vacation. Some of the other resorts near by are also really nice and we wondered if we made the right choice but after meeting people from the other resorts and having them tell us how boring their resorts were, we knew we made the right choice. Oh and they left me a birthday cake in the room the day of my birthday. I'm not sure how they knew it was my birthday, we didn't announce it, but they did and left me a surprise. Incredibly thoughtful gesture on Riu's part! The only thing I didn't absolutely love during our stay was the bed. I'm a bed snob and love a cozy bed which is not what we had. It was fine and I didn't have a problem sleeping, it just wasn't what I love.

Outstanding resort

Buffet food had excellent selection and taste. The fish and the fresh fruit selection was exceptional. We ate at the Japanese Sayuri restaurant = ok , the Nautilus steak house = above average, and the Krystal gourmet restaurant = excellent choices and tastes, but the buffet at Don Nicolas was the real enjoyment. Individually prepared filled omelettes, smoothie drinks, cheeses, fresh fruit , waffles / pancakes, and that is just for breakfast. There is always fish on the menu for lunch and supper and we had beef wellington one night, and shrimp prepared several ways, Sushi is available, along with fresh salads. The water is safe in Aruba and therefore even fresh green salads can be eaten without a problem. We even ate at the restaurant buffet next door at Antilles and it was very good. The entertainment at the Antilles was SO much better than our experience at staying at two Iberostar all inclusives. They can sing and they can entertain much like on a cruise ship. They are not ready for Los Vegas or New York but better than a high school production. The Antilles is only available to adults over 18 years old. When requesting a room , we requested a balconey out of the sun, facing the pool, and high up. the B building and floor 9 or 10 are superb. They have a bigger balcony with plenty of room to sit and "people watch" or read a book out of the sun. the king bed really is two full beds side by side. Unless you are a cuddler --you will love it. A picture ID will get you access to free paddle boarding or kayaking. If you have to get the best palapas then get up at 6 AM to place your beach towel marking "your spot". Bring towel clips to secure your towel or the wind may remove it. We rented a Jeep for two days to tour the island and LOVED it. I also learned to windsurf (extra cost) and my wife and I paddle boarded for the first time. we walked the beach several times and it was clean with occasional seaweed and sharp shells. We did rent a Hobie cat a couple days and they are just down the beach. Did have some issues with plumbing in the rooms but it was quickly taken care of. The Palace needs to do a better job at allowing printing of the boarding passes for exiting. we ended up going to Antilles and their front staff desk staff was much more helpful. Tip frequently and you will be rewarded. Even $2 here and there will make a difference. We wiil go here again but there are so many more islands to see.

Best island ever

The island is the best that we have been to so far, one exception, it rained 6 days. One day it poured all day. Other days, it was on and off. We chose Aruba because they say it never rains. We will come back. It is the safest and most friendliest island we have been to. You can walk off the resort at any time of day or night. All in all we had a nice vacation, it just could have been drier. The resort was very nice and everyone is helpful and very friendly.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

Palm Beach is one of Caribbean's best beaches - the sands are so soft, the waves so gentle. It's paradise.

At the main pool, the hot spot is close to the swim-up bar. Lots of mixing and mingling and music.

The staff is awe-mazing, making sure everything is taken care of just for you. You want for nothing here.

Martini drinker? Pull up a seat at the lobby bar. The Espresso Martinis here are legendary.

The ocean waters couldn't be better for whatever water-adventure you're heart desires. Snorkel, anyone?

What We'd Change

Aruba's white sands and calm waters will be your favorite, but get there early to get the best seat.

Why You Should Go

You're in a prime location here and as one of the most tourist-friendly islands, you'll fall in love.

Champagne bubbly awaits you once you arrive. Cheers! Vacay starts now.

Rent a bicycle and you can tour the island at your own speed. Downtown is full of shopping & local flavors.

Picture-worthy sunsets. Grab a cocktail and perch yourself along the shores. It's worth it.

Daily bus service runs up and down the hotel strip. Bonus part: cost is around $2.50.

Some of the best snorkeling and diving in the area - coral-encrusted shipwrecked Antilla sits underwater.
