Not the best purchase ever

The hotel is very nice, but it is roo big for my preference. Also, it is one of the noisiest resorts I have ever stayed at. The music and entertainment during the day at the pool area was very noisy and loud... not at all relaxing. In the evening the entertainment was outside on the second floor and was so loud that you would never be able to be in your room and relax, and certainly not to fall asleep until it ended. The restaurants were only mediocre, but the buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner was superb and by far the best I have have seen. The resort staff were all very good and had excellent customer service. Overall, however, I did not enjoy my stay at this resort and would not return.

Last Minute vacation

Perfect long weekend...Riu Palace Aruba was a little piece of heaven. Grounds, service, food....everything was perfect. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful and pleasant. We have stayed at numerous places on Aruba....but RIU by far is now our FAVORITE. We will be back in 2018 and bringing the family.

Very underwhelmed

I took my wife and two kids (16 and 12) to the RIU palace Aruba for a late winter getaway. The RIU was beautiful! The pool looked exactly like the pictures, amazing!! The room was definitely nice as well. The restaurants were all beautifully decorated and updated recently. I walked up and down the beach and from the walkway the RIU appears to be the nicest of the resorts. With all that being said I definitely had some gripes. It was crazy windy the whole time we were there. The pool wasn't heated so the wind made pool time a little uncomfortable. The beach was beautiful but if you wanted a spot under one of the palm umbrellas you needed to claim your space around 7 am. Who wants to get up early on vacation? :( The room was big but the pillow was like an empty pillowcase. Do yourself a favor and ask for extra pillows. Now onto the food. The specialty restaurants do not require reservations but be prepared to wait. The only place we didn't wait was the Japanese place and I understood why quickly. The food was awful. From the greasy shrimp my wife had to the sweet and sour pork (mostly breading) my daughter ate. We were all disappointed! Night two we ate at Krystal, the "gourmet" restaurant. We were told there was a wait, however there were many empty tables that just needed to be cleaned. It took them 45 minutes to clean and set four tables of four. Very inefficient and very frustrating when you are hungry. The food was just all right. The best restaurant hands-down was the steakhouse and that was over an hour wait. I was very underwhelmed with the food and service. I think for the price, which was much higher than a lot of other vacations I've taken should have been much better in my humble opinion. I probably won't return to the RIU palace in Aruba.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

Palm Beach is one of Caribbean's best beaches - the sands are so soft, the waves so gentle. It's paradise.

At the main pool, the hot spot is close to the swim-up bar. Lots of mixing and mingling and music.

The staff is awe-mazing, making sure everything is taken care of just for you. You want for nothing here.

Martini drinker? Pull up a seat at the lobby bar. The Espresso Martinis here are legendary.

The ocean waters couldn't be better for whatever water-adventure you're heart desires. Snorkel, anyone?

What We'd Change

Aruba's white sands and calm waters will be your favorite, but get there early to get the best seat.

Why You Should Go

You're in a prime location here and as one of the most tourist-friendly islands, you'll fall in love.

Champagne bubbly awaits you once you arrive. Cheers! Vacay starts now.

Rent a bicycle and you can tour the island at your own speed. Downtown is full of shopping & local flavors.

Picture-worthy sunsets. Grab a cocktail and perch yourself along the shores. It's worth it.

Daily bus service runs up and down the hotel strip. Bonus part: cost is around $2.50.

Some of the best snorkeling and diving in the area - coral-encrusted shipwrecked Antilla sits underwater.
