Will go again

I just got back and my trip was amazing. The resort was clean and the customer service was great. The beach was clean and not crowded this time of year. The food was the only thing lacking but it was not bad enough to keep me away. Already planning my next trip.

Not a fan

While the food choices were good and the people serviceing the front desk and food service were really great, the resort itself was not one that i would return to. The bed situation was horrible. There were 2 twin beds simply pushed together, not strapped, made separately. The pillows were like those at a hospital. The ac was uncontrollable and very cold. The maids didnt change your sheets, they simply made the beds and not until late afternoon. The shops were severely over priced as well as the spa and resort cab fares.

The worst resort I have stayed in DR

This has to be the worst resort experience I had in DR, and I have been to this country for at least 6 to 7 times. When we first got into our rooms, we discovered the AC units are not functioning properly...the temperature setting is locked which means we can't adjust the temperature in our rooms. Then later on that night, the AC unit was leaking and flooded most of the floor. The toilet was clogged also. All of these problems were temporarily fixed by maintenance. The food and drinks in this hotel are terrible. The dining wares are dirty, we often found old food still stuck to the plates, bowls, and eating utensils. The buffet were subpar, food were of poor quality and cooked improperly...over cooked and over seasoned. The so called sit down restaurants (steak houses) have limited seating and were never able to accommodate all the patrons... they turned away at least dozens of people every night. And they allow only 2 nights of dining at these restaurants every week per patron. They have low grade liquors, no top shelf stuff. The beer is pretty decent. Every room has 2 users access at a time to the free wifi. But the wifi is so weak, people can only access it at one location in the hotel, the front lobby and nowhere else. The wifi is extremely slow and choppy even if you get it. The pools are dirty. They don't seem to be cleaned very often. I will never return to this resort again and strongly against anyone going there and suffer as we have.

Bad Rattings

As I mention on the last review........ . Lobby Rep. was not welcome to the Customer, The room I request looking to the beach, but they give room all the way in the back with no view. room was not clean and have no soap or shampoo. It was heavily raining and they don't have an umbrella in the room. Food was not cooked and I mention to the head of the restaurant and some pugs and cockroach was in the eating floor. At night I was at the disco club and a few people was drunk and flowing me......there was no security at all. I really want my money back.

What's to Love

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

The sun-kissed, white powdery sands on the shores of Maimon Bay where you can lay your weary head.

The quaint pink bungalows that dot the three acres of lush tropical gardens that surround the resort.

RiuLand - where the kids will be happily occupied while you take a much-needed breather.

The spa treatments that squash, smash, and crush all the stress right out of your bod.

Three floodlit tennis courts, so you can play a set, then enjoy drinks under the stars by the ocean.

Visiting the rum factory nearby that's famous for its Ron Brugal founded in 1888. Bottoms up.

What We'd Change

Liquor lovers are bummed that generic brands are the only ones available, but the convenience of an in-room liquor dispenser is tough to beat!

Why You Should Go

The sister resort, Hotel Riu Bachata, lets you get in on the entertainment and activities. They like to share.

You get free entry to the casino and Pacha, the disco. Get gussied up and go for it.

There's banana boating, water polo, ocean kayaking, boogie boarding and oceans more water sports.

After a day of sun, you can wind down with a rousing game of table tennis or billiards.

Golf at Playa Dorado Golf Course is near. So is horseback riding. Get out and live large.

You can visit Santiago, Rio Damajagu waterfalls & La Isabela National Park - all super fun.
