Relax and enjoy

This hotel is a real relaxation resort. Not the place to go party big but enough poolside swim up bar to make it fun. Separate adult pool that they really do supervise well. No little ones allowed at all. But the family pool is close by and can get a bit noisy. If it is quite time you want, take a few steps onto the beach and find a private spot with chars and tables, plenty to find available. Beach is roped off so you do not get hassled by vendors but close enough it you choose to cross the line to buy something. They are all very respectful. The service was the best of all, tipping not expected but single dollars are very appreciated. The hotel food is typical inclusive buffet but the two reserved restaurants are better. They keep this resort spotless clean it is amazing and appreciated. No hassle checking in or checking out, fastest I have had ever. Pick floors starting at the 4th floor for your best view. Then only thing I can say bad is that the elevators are very slow at times forcing you to use the steps. Mostly when you are trying to get down, going up was no problem. There is a good message place down the beach for $25 hour and a great coffee Loony Bean and restaurant in the same direction that is worth going to. Order tequila shrimp that they cook at your table, you wont be disappointed. Do not be tempted to buy the rattlesnake or Coral snake in a bottle of tequila, it will be confiscated at the boarder, it is not allowed to come with you. Trust me I know. lol

Pool Side

Overall trip was good however, the Riu has a great policy in place, "You can not reserve seating at any pool" However, they don't enforce this policy at any time! Day two of my vacation, I could not find a place to sit at any of the pools and this was at 8:00 AM time frame. Every lounger had a towel on it and some even had one towel draped over two or three loungers. If the Riu has this policy in place why would they not enforce? It is very clear at 8 in the morning many folks are saving seats. If they would enforce! I truly believe there would be less people running out and saving seats!!!!! Very disappointing!

It is a nice place to go with a nice beach, clean hotel and amazing food. The rooms has wonderful view to the beach. The only issue we had, was the refrigerator that was noisy.

What's to Love

It's all-inclusive and sits at the foot of the breathtaking Sierra Madre Mountains, hugged by teal water.

No reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

The stress-ousting massages, facials and other luscious treatments at the spa. Melt.

RiuLand for kids - a beachy world of fun for them while you get your chillaxing on.

The liquor dispenser in your room. When you say it's a party, it's a party.

The world-class golf courses that are nearby. Bring your A game.

What We'd Change

The specialty restaurants are on a first come, first serve basis, but if you plan early, you won't have to wait too long.

Why You Should Go

It's just 19 miles from the airport so your vacay in Beach Eden will start before you know it.

Secure your spot by the pool early - the loungers at the glistening pool fill up fast.

There's horseback riding near - in this tropical paradise, this is a must-do.

For water babies, there's scuba, surfing, kayaking, and more. Dive in.

On land, there's volleyball, table tennis, billiards and a fitness center. No boredom here.
