It's time to go to the sparkling Dutch Caribbean coast of Willemstad. The Renaissance Curacao Resort and Casino is a stylish hotspot for guests looking for the relaxation of the beach and the excitement of Curacao. Located next door, the 19th-century Rif Fort was once an active fort that protected the island from pirates. It has since become a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to a host of excellent restaurants, trendy shops and sizzling nightlife. Order a cocktail at Rif Fort Bar or listen to a soulful crooner at Sopranos Piano Bar; no matter what you're looking for, guests of the Renaissance hotel in Curacao are never far from the party after the sun sets.

Best vacation ever!
This hotel was by far the best choice for us because it offered lots of fun things to do in the center of town and there were plenty of great restaurnats nearby on the waterfront. I would go to the Governor House for dinner or lunch and La Perla for the whole red snapper.. Steaks and Ribs had a great Argentina steak. The funnest bar with swimming was the Saint Tropez which was a couple miles from the hotel ands right by the Avila Hotel. The nearest beach was the Sea Aquarium beach but they charge for admission. The nicest public beach was the Knip in Westpunt area. Great trip and wonderful islanders too. Don't miss seeing the flamingos at the 2 preserves on the island which are free and there are 50 or so of them to photograph in their natural habitat.

AFTER THE INITIAL CHECK-IN SNAFU AND GRACIOUS AMENDS, OUR STAY WAS GLORIOUS. THE LOCATION IS PERFECT FOR NOT HAVING RENTED A CAR AND EVERYTHING WAS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE. THE VENDOR FOR THE AIRPORT TRANSFER AND DAY TRIP APPARENTLY HAS NO ASSETS (CABS/TOUR BUSES), AND SUBCONTRACTED EVERYTHING. THE CAB TRIPS TO AND FRO WERE ADEQUATE AND THE TOUR BY PETERS TOURGUIDE "ROBERT" WAS THE BEST WE HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. THE SERVICE AT THE RENAISSANCE WAS NOT WHAT WAS EXPECTED OF A 4 1/2 STAR HOTEL AND NEEDS SOME POLISH, BUT OTHERWISE A MOST ENJOYABLE VISIT TO CURACAO. ANOTHER IS BEING PLANNED......
The hotel location is great. Within walking distance to excellent places to eat and the local flavor of food, shops , culture and entertainment.
Great view of the ocean, fishing boats and cruise ships.
The hotel man-made beach (typical to all hotel in the island) is great.
The beach staff are friendly, multi-lingual and very helpful.
The hotel staff are vey genuine interested in making your stay the best.
The gym (work-out room) is great and the Cafe Expresso bar is good.
The rooms are very comfortable.
Overall I would recommend the Renaissance for other other travellers. Our room was great, the location is really convenient and the pools are nice. A few tips though: avoid catching a taxi immediately outside the hotel as the cab drivers tend to hike up prices for the hotel clientele. Instead, walk 5 minutes to the taxi rank by the footbridge in Otrabanda - you'll get a cheaper fare there. Also, I'm sorry to say that while most of the staff at the Renaissance were pleasant and helpful, Giovanni at the front desk was neither of these things.

If you click on the 'show details' button, there is another link in that window to view the room.

The rooms were very nicely done in muted carribean colors. The beds were very comfortable. Artwork was tasteful. Desk was more than adequate for doing business should you need to. The bathroom was very nicely done and roomy enough with a very updated shower compartment. The whole place looked very new.
beachdrums
The rooms are pretty basic. We paid for an upgrade to a room with a balcony. Our view was a dirt parking lot, a run-down baseball field, an oil refinery, and the cruise ship that docks outside the hotel.
moxymama
Don't know; they are large and very comfortable. We stayed four nights.
Chas
The rooms are quite nice and spacious. The king size bed is actually smaller and very soft. Didn't they post pictures on the hotel website?
Suling
Go to www.marriott.com and find the hotel. You can see photos of the hotel and rooms. The photos are actual, I can vouch! Rooms are very nice and 'roomy'. We had 3 people in a 2 queen bed room, and it was fine.
daisy143
the rooms are nice dont let the lack of pictures deter you...
Dino720
it was a great place, no regrets
Frankulino
The rooms are great. Ocean view is a must. The beds are soft and the views are nice. Water pressure is a little low if you like to take baths, but the shower was fine.
wesj
Great room! comfortable bed, nice size bathroom for two and from the balcony we could see the cruise port!

Is Renaissance Curacao Resort and Casino All-Inclusive?11 answers
Are meals and beverages included in the package price? Thank you.
1 year, 14 months ago
Bernie
The Renaissance Curacao is not an all-inclusive resort. There are restaurants and bars on the property, but no food or beverages are included in the package.
JenCC
Not sure, I do not think so our was not, Food was very expensive
OneIQ
No, not all inclusive. And, it's all pretty over-priced. About $40/person for a disappointing meal.
moxymama
No, and we didn't eat there. Many restaurants within walking distance.
Chas
nope, but lots of options close by for dinning. The resort has a full resturant and a "beach" side resturant and bar.
RushNRuleIt
It can be but I wouldn't recommend all-inclusive
ItalianMama
Nothing was included.
Traveling0lady
From our trip/visit, this resort is not all-inclusive
NikkiC
We ate at subway and went to the local grocery store
Frankulino
no
stukab
yes, but we didn't book that package. There are many places to eat in walking distance. Try eating at Rif Fort.

What are the dining options & pricing for this resort?11 answers
I understand that this is not an all-inclusive resort but what is the price range of the different dining options at this resort or surrounding area?
1 year, 14 months ago
McGG
This resort does offer an all-inclusive pacakge, which is listed as a separate resort on our web site (Renaissance Curacao Resort and Casino All Inclusive). The inclusions for this are listed on the resort's home page. If you would like to travel to this resort without the all-inclusive plan, pricing for dining varies widely depending on the restaurant that you are visiting.
KristinCC
The food is very expensive a Plate that we would pay 15.00 for here in the Annapolis are is 30.00 plus. We ate at the Renaissance and around town, most of the food was good, The breakfast buffet at the Renaissance was 18.00 per person and was OK, they had allot of chooses (I am not a buffet fan). We had a T Bone at a near by restaurant in the Riff fort, it was $24.00 the most reasonable priced meal we got
OneIQ
The attached fort and town of Willemstad provide hundreds of dining options without a car. You can find any price range and cuisine you desire.
AtlantaBecky
The food is very over-priced for what you get. You pay about $40/person for dinner but the food is not good.
moxymama
Many restaurants in Willamsted to eat at; we never paid more than $75 for two including adult beverages.
If you are out at Couples, it is a drive into town.
Chas
Resort offers a "beach side" bar with drinks about USD $4-10 and food starting at about $4 for fries and up for burgers / fish / dinner salads. The resort resturant is excellent in my opinion, and offers a full selection. Basic meal selections start around $15, with surf and turf around $30, and speciality cuts and lobster at the high end around $70. There are many dining options typical for tourist area. I wish I had packed some breakfast bars, fruit and snacks for the room and for day trips.
RushNRuleIt
The hotel has a restaurant and coffee shop. Restaurant is nice, little pricey. They have an actual menu you can order off of, or buffet for each meal. Breakfast ranges from ~$9.00 for eggs, toast, bacon, and fruit, buffet is $18.00. Dinner buffet is ~$35.00, menu items are around $30.00. The 'fort' right outside the hotel has a number of restaurants, 5 min walk.
daisy143
During happy hour we ordered 2 alcoholic beverages and it was under $8 US which is really cheap!! For two at a seafood and steak resturant it was $130 which included shrimp, lobster, crab, fries, seafood soup, and a bottle of champaign. We also had Indian food which was around the same price. Check for specials because they had a 3 course meal for $35 which my husband took. It was delicious!!
Kavita
we had the breakfast buffet at the hotel for 3 of us and the price was $55.then we also ate at a pizza hut in town two mediums and wings and that was $35.most places were pricey, but reasonable.
hillbilly
the dollar is almost 2 to 1 in the NLA and most businesses can prepare the bill for you in US dollars which will allow to avoid to currency charges with your local US bank (same goes for ATMs they will dispense USD).
Dino720
There were many options in walking distance, the prices varied btw $20-$50. 15% service charge and 5% tax. Don't forget gratuity as well. So it can be costly.

What is the beach like at this hotel, the Renaissance Curacao?11 answers
Is it suitable for swiming? Also is the beach on the ocean or on a bay? It looks like there is a cruise ship very close to the property. Thanks
1 year, 14 months ago
nottachef
The beach at this resort is located directly on the ocean. The beach is not as large as the beaches at other resorts in the area, but the water is very calm, making it enjoyable for swimming.
KristinCC
The beach is like nothing I have seen or experienced. It is a man made beach, it is salt water very swim-able with beach on one side, a sand bottom and infinity on the ocean side. Looks like you are in the ocean, amazing.
OneIQ
Nice... all the beaches at the resorts are manmade... At least 2 cruise ships come in daily, except Monday and Sunday....
LoveToLaugh365
Suitable for swimming, on the ocean, great pool but no night swimming
RocmasterT
There is a small man made beach. It is suitable for swimming, but will have a very different feel from the ocean. It's essentially an infinity pool with a sand bottom and salt water. Still very pleasant. The shoreline around the Renaissance is rocky and the water is very dark, making it unsuitable for swimming. the cruise ship docks just down the street, but doesn't seem to overwhelm the area
balttraveler
The beach is man made. It is an infinity beach, that's why the cruise ship looks close. It is definitely suitable for swimming. It is small, so when the hotel is crowded it may not be very peaceful.
Traveler727
This is not a beach resort, it has a pool on the second floor that looks towards the ocean-where the cruise ships dock. The closest beach is a $30/one-way cab ride from the hotel.
moxymama
A very unique "beach". It is in reality an infinity salt water pool elevated over the rocky coast about 20 feet or so. Large swimming area, sand bottom, infinity edge overlooking the ocean. We loved it except for no area to go for a long walk on the beach. See pic for an idea.
Chas
It's an Infinity beach.... It's artificial, on the second floor of the resort. You need transportation to get to real beaches. The atrificial beach is very nice and even has a few fish. There is also a pool.
RushNRuleIt
There is really no "beach" at this hotel. The beach is man made, on the second floor over shops. However, with the nice palm trees and large infinity salt water deep pool, it can almost pass for a real beach. If you want to swim off a real beach, the best bet are beaches along the south shore. Jan Thiel Beach is large and very beautiful. All the beaches are kind of rocky with lots of pieces of coral that can hurt. Also watch out for jelly fish. My husband had a jelly fish wrapped around his face while snorkeling.
Suling
The 'beach' is man-made, an infinity 'fake beach'. It is nice, makes you feel like you are at the ocean. You are able to look out at the ocean, and if clear actually see Venezula, South America. Lots of tankers pass by, the reason you are not able to swim in the 'real' ocean. There is also a traditional swimming pool onsite.

It's time to go to the sparkling Dutch Caribbean coast of Willemstad. The Renaissance Curacao Resort and Casino is a stylish hotspot for guests looking for the relaxation of the beach and the excitement of Curacao. Curacao sunshine feels fantastic on the shore of the hotel's elevated, man-made beach, complete with saltwater, soft sand and an infinity horizon--you get the full beach experience! If you've had enough sand, the infinity pool is steps away for a relaxing swim or sunbathing with a frosty mojito from Infinity Club Beach Bar. Slide on your flip-flops and head inside the Infinity Club for a three-course menu specially-prepared by the chef, or try Nautilus for authentic pannenkoek, yummy Dutch pancakes drizzled with aloe vera syrup. Tanned and with a full tummy, get out your lucky charm and head for the hotel's gorgeous Carnaval Casino, where Vegas-style slots and table gaming keep guests going through the night.
Whether you're chilling by day and partying at night or adventuring all day, there's plenty to keep you busy: hit the links at Blue Bay Golf Course, stroll through incredible vegetation at Christoffel National Park, enroll in the Dolphin Academy for a day or take a walk over to the colorful town of Punda for the fresh fruit and veggies at the Floating Market. When you're ready, head for the colorful and contemporary d?cor in the Renaissance Curacao guest rooms. We love the gorgeous Ocean King guest room, which boasts beautiful views of the coast and passing cruise ships off the full balcony.
