I researched for weeks trying to find the perfect resort for our honeymoon and this is by far the best choice! We stayed in the adult only part of the resort, but were over in the main pool area and bar SOLE almost everyday. This place has amazing pools, great staff, and wonderful food. We did the all-inclusive package and let me tell you that is the way to go. Our meal bills were over $100 every night, not to mention $30 snacks and $60 lunches. Also, the drinks from all the bars were wonderful (and expensive) so we were very happy we chose the all-inclusive. Almost every night we would go down at 2am and get a filet mignon, baked potato, and mojito and listen to the wonderful musicians down by the casino. We really spoiled ourselves and it was great! The private island was amazing too. I loved the boat ride over to it, and also the restaurant on the island made it convenient to spend the whole day there. My husband and I will definitely go back, and I am hoping sometime soon!

This hotel is located in a small downtown area. Posh and well kept area, but the hotel has no beach front, so you take a small boat to a private island. It takes about 10 minutes boat ride to get to the island, and island is very nice. The boats run every 15 minutes, so no real wait to get too or from the island.
The downtown area shuts down at 6:00, so no night lift to speak of. If you want a very quiet, relaxing vacation, this will be a good location for you.
The hotel has two restaurants, and an outdoor bar area that also serves food. The food is very good, but you may want to go out one night for variety.
This hotel has the option for "All Inclusive" - I would go this option, since a buffet breakfast is $50 for two, and the average lunch for two with a couple of drinks is $70, and dinner for same runs $150. If you order two beers it's $14 - if this paints a picture. The all inclusive includes most premium liquor (Jim Bean, Bacardi, Absolute, Smirnoff, etc.) but only includes one beer selection (Balashi - the local beer, but it's pretty good and always served in can - not draft).
Overall, good place to stay. If you want to shift into low gear completely, it's a great place to stay.

Our All Inclusive trip
When we arrived at the hotel we were immediately told that since we had an all inclusive we had an inferior room & should upgrade for more money...I said no as we felt that we already spent enough for this trip...We got a horrible room, that had peeling wallpaper, water stains & a dirty bathroom...We complained to both hotel & maid to no avail..
The Aquarius restaurant was supposed to be buffet or from the menu..When we asked to order from the menu we were told that "all inclusive" couldn't do that..The buffet consisted of two kinds of food, fresh fish which was grilled to order was good, or standing dishes which were terrible...
At the high end steak house all inclusive patrons could not order from regular menu and were only given three choices, although the food there was good...
We felt that by being all inclusive we were treated as second class citizens...
The beach was beautiful, and the people were very nice...

This was our 1st ever all inclusive experience. The service was outstanding. The food was 5 Star. Why would you ever want to eat anywhere else when the Aqarius or L G Steakhouse serve and offer the best food experience we've ever had. All you can eat lobster and crab at the seafood bar or steak, lamb, chicken with changes every day on other choices. We have been on 15 cruises and traveled all over the world. Most relaxing vacation we ever had.Food is very expensive if you don't do the all inclusive. Downside--- We ate and drank way to much........

Is the adult beach topless or nude? Thanks
2 years, 25 months ago
Nude sunbathing is not tolerated in Aruba, however the Renaissance does own a private island, available only to guests of the resort, which allows topless sunbathing. It offers shuttle service to and from the island.
The island does have two beaches, one for adults only, and one for families. There were no topless swimmers or sun bathers when we were there, although I did not see anything that would prohibit it.
not that we saw. Adult only beach has flamingoes!
no, not when we were there, but we spent alot of time on the family side where the bar and food were. This was really quiet b/c of the wind and sound of the ocean, there were no screamers, maybe we got lucky...
We never saw anyone topless in the 5 days there.
The adults only beach was not adults only to start with. Families were on both beaches and no one was topless or nude.
A few go topless.
its not a nude beach but one day i was there a lady definitely decided topless was the way to go
It says it can be topless but no one did when I was there on 4/13!

Is the Renaissance an all-inclusive resort or is that just an option?6 answers
1 year, 15 months ago
Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino gives you the option to book all inclusive. The resort can be found twice on our website, the first option has a European Plan or without meals and the second option is listed as All Inclusive.
all inclusive is an option. there are afew things as far as dining thats not included with all inclusive but definitely a better choice. ikept all ourreciepts and in six days we would have spent 1000 on food
It is just an option, you can choose not to do the all-inclusive but I would highly recommend going with it.
It's an option I highly recommend!
It is an option
It is just an "upgrade" option. The all-inclusive really only means meals and drinks from a "special" menu. Non-motorized water sports, etc. are not included and are a separate fee.

What is the charge for wireless Internet service at Renaissance Aruba?6 answers
1 year, 14 months ago
We do not currently have the pricing available for internet access for the Renaissance Aruba as amenities of this sort are always subject to change.
They have Wi-Fi in the lobby.
no charge but only works really good in the lobby.
It is free, however the service was in limited areas. At the Ocean Suites we could only get service near the lobby or in the restaurant on the private island.
It's $15 a day and its wired in so you need wireless router for room. IMO just use lobby for free wifi on phones and iPads when you need it and enjoy the sun, beach, food and service. Only reason I can think of to pay would be work related otherwise enjoy aruba!
There is free wifi in the hotel lobby and then there is a business center that has computers and i think the charge was 15 cents per minute. we just used the wifi in the lobby whenever we needed to check anything....not sure if they have wireless internet availability throughout the resort.
Do you have to shuttle or take a boat to get to the beach?8 answers
my parents and I want to stay at the adults only Marina Resort in the Renaissance Aruba Resort but somewhere, I thought I saw that you had to take a boat to get out to the beach, you can't just walk from your hotel room. Is that true? If so, does it cost money and how long does it take?
According to the resort's website, http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/auabr-renaissance-aruba-resort-and-casino/, they do offer a complimentary boat launch to Renaissance Island.
You do not have to take a boat ride to get to the beach, just a 5 minute walk from the adult only section to the family friendly part where the beach is. The walk isn't bad at all! ... You do have to take a boat to get to the private island though. The boat picks you up and drops you off in the lobby of the adult only building (it's really awesome). And the boat ride to the private island is about 12 min long. You don't have to go to the private island, but I highly recommend it!
The boat picks you up right inside the Marina hotel and is about a 10-15 minute ride to island. You can also walk over to the Ocean Suites part of the hotel where there is a lagoon beach. No cost for either, just show your room key.
The boat picks u up in lobby every 10 minutes to private beach. Their is no beach but a private lagoon at Ocean Suites across street.
Yes, if you are at the adults only then you cannot walk to the beach. There is a nice pool at the Marina and the ocean suites is right across the street in walking distance that has another pool and a small beach area. However, both the adults only and ocean suites have access to the private beach by boat. there are small ports easily located within the hotels and you just hop on a water taxi/boat to get to the private beach - it's about an 8 minute boat ride. We went there almost every day during our 5 night stay and it was so easy and fun! We enjoyed the boat ride and then the private island is wonderful - always a chair available, a place for lunch, a fitness center, and two areas to the choose from: family friendly or adult only. If you are staying at the resort it does not cost money.
There IS a beach & a pool at the Marina Resort. There is also a private beach that belongs only to Renaissance with a family side & an adult side that takes a 10 minute boat ride to get to it. The boat comes every 15 minutes to take people back & forth
If you stay at the adult resort, they do not have a beach, you will have to take a boat shuttle to the island.( about 3 min boat ride and it leaves every 15 mins). The shuttle for the adult section picks up inside the lobby of the hotel. The family section picks up at the dock at that resort and their is no cost for the shuttle. have a great time
You have to take a water taxi that will pick you up from the hotel and it is free. It takes 5 minutes to get there and it is such a beautiful view!!!
Does family friendly mean a 14 year old would not feel out of place?5 answers
10 months ago
That is something that is going to depend on the child because we cannot guarantee the ages of guests at any point throughout the year. We suggest calling one of our New Reservations Specialists to best assist you in finding the best resort for you and your family.
We took our two kids, our son is almost 13 and our daughter is 16. We had a great time as a family and saw several teenagers there. There is not a whole lot to do besides play in the water or lay on the beach, but we took some small pool balls with us and that made it fun.
My 12 and 14 year old daughters loved it. It's just nice for eveyone!
Of course, he/she should not feel out of place. Tons to do on the island.
There were kids of all ages while we were there in June 2013.

Are the double occupancy beds doubles or full size??

Check with the resort directly to see if there are any benefits for being a Platinum member. The adults only room offer a king size bed, the suite room categories offer a king size bed with a queen pull out couch.
They are king actually- absolutely huge. we were in the ocean suites and they were. My friend is a platinum elite and if you mention that after you book they will make sure you get a good room
is it smoke free7 answers

Majority of resort are non-smoking in the inside areas. However smoking is allowed outside and on balconies.
The rooms are smoke free, but there were the occasional people smoking on the beach which we didn't like. But it was big enough to move away from them. It only happened twice in 5 days.
It is but people still smoke outside!
No, but it's outside. You don't notice the smoke. The casino is smokey though.
Yes. My friend is a smoker & she was told there is a $250 fine if she smoked on our patio. She had to go to 2 different designated places if she wanted to smoke
smoke free except in certain location. never noticed anyone smoking
Well inside the hotel is smoke free, but the adult section where the bar and pool is not smoke free. Even the adult beach is not smoke free.
is there a charge to go to the private island?9 answers

Renaissance Aruba offers easy access to Renaissance Island, exclusively for Renaissance Aruba's hotel guests. Complimentary water taxis ferry guests to a lush, 40-acre island boasting two private beaches.
No charge as long as you have a room at the suites or marina.
No, you just hop on the shuttle boat and show your room key. It runs about every 15 minutes during the day.
no charge and worth it to go every day. the taxi is easy to catch and the ride over is beautiful. Such a great option!
If you are staying at the Resort then there is no charge! I loved the private island - just be careful of the rocks and coral in the ocean, my boyfriend got sliced by some oral in the water and it took a big chunk out of his foot....he had to go to the hospital and get some stitches since it severed an artery. Thankfully, it was on the last night of our trip so it did not ruin anything.
No! You just need yoru room key.
No charge if you stay at either resort, pick ups at both resorts.
well, there is a charge to go to the de palm island, but not the renaissance island which is the resort island.
If u have all inclusive, you don't need to worry..
Can you buy all inclusive drink and meal option after paying for Hotel Room?5 answers
My husband and I have a hotel reservation here through a time share, but it's not the all inclusive option. We would like to know if there are any all inclusive packages, such as pay a set fee upfront for drinks and food after we already paid for our hotel?
You will need to check directly with the resort to see if they offer any type of All Inclusive add on packages for time share members.
Yes this resort does allow you to add the all - inclusive for a set fee. For pricing please contact the resort directly.
Not sure but I highly recommend all inclusive as drinks and meals are crazy expensive. 15pct tips are also included. No headaches and kids loved it. Makes for a stress free fun vacation for all and is worth every penny. A you do is show your room key for all meals and drinks and sign off!
No, you have to buy the all inclusive option when you book your trip. You cant go wrong with the all inclusive package.
No it needs to be included when booking the hotel
How many restaurants can you eat at with an all-inclusive package?8 answers
It seems from the description on Cheapcarribean.com that breakfast and lunch are buffets and dinner is ala carte? Hope I'm wrong.
There are 7 Renaissance operated outlets (restaurants) to choose from: BLUE (lunch/dinner); Aquarius (breakfast, lunch, dinner); Captain's Corner (breakfast/dinner); L.G. Smith Steak and Chop House (dinner, Silver Menu only); Papagayo Bar & Grill (lunch); The Lounge Midnight Grill (dinner); and Sole (lunch/dinner). Please check with the front desk for further details, as hours and restaurant participation are subject to change without prior notification. You may reach them directly at: 011-297-583-6000 or toll free at: 1-800-421-8188.
There are options for buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (at least at the Marina location). There are also restaurants that are not buffet but you get served with a waiter and can choose from a menu. One restaurant is only open Mon., Wed., and Fri at the ocean suites location and there are are a few other options that are open each night, just make a reservation. It's a really great deal because it's all you eat at the restaurants, so basically choose anything you like and then there is the buffet option as well if that is more to your liking.
We did all inclusive and the breakfast and dinner at Aquarias is buffett. There is an LG Steakhouse in the hotel also and it is a la cart, along with the bar food.
5 - 2 in each Renassiance property (across the street from each other) and one on the private island.
There are 5 restaurants included. One is 5 star steak house that serves dinner only. The also have Aquarius which serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and features a different dinner cuisine everyday. I enjoyed Indian, Mexican and seafood on 3 separate days. There is also The Blue with serves lunch & dinner in an outdoor atmosphere. At the other resort the is an outdoor café & a pool side area that serves "bar food" like wings & burgers. Overall B+
Depends on the resturant. The breakfest where buffet style, but they do have a menu and they have cooks to prepair omelets, eggs and waffles. But all have really fresh fruit, which my wife loved. Most of the other meals are 4 course meals, buffet and ala cart. The steack house does have an seperate all Inclusive menu. but if you want some thing off of the pay as you go menu you only have to pay the differnce.
No, you can eat at all the places that it states on the website. The aquarius restaurant is the best for me, loved their seafood dinner buffet!!! It is all inclusive and unlimited!
You have 2 breakfast restaurants to choose from and 3 or 4 for lunch. And 3 for dinner.
