Great Island-Wonderful hotel
Aruba is a safe and friendly island. It is very americanized. The enitre staff was friendly and always accommodating at the Renissance Marina Hotel.
The location of this property was wonderful. It was in the middle of downtown. It was easily accessible, by walking, to restaurants, a grocery store and upscale and souvenier shopping.
It was expecially nice to be able to view the cruise ships when they were in port.
The hotel may be a bit older, however, it is being renovated. We stayed on the 4th floor of the Marina Hotel and had newly painted walls, new ceramic tile in the bath, and new granite counter tops in the bath. The room was clean and we had more than ample fresh towels throughout our stay.
Your room key not only got you into your room, it allowed you to get on the speed boat to the private island (available from 7 AM to 7 PM daily) and also was able to charge any of our food and beverage,including Starbucks, purchased at the hotel.
Each hotel room was equipped with a small refrigerator, good for keeping beverages cold.
If I could offer a recommendation, it would be to replace the bath tubs--perhaps via a "bath fitter" measure cheaper and easier and also add a small microwave in the hotel room.
If I were to return to Aruba for a future visit, I woud definitely stay at the Rensaissance Marina Hotel again.
Good location, within walking distance to downtown with lots of shops and restaurants. After arriving at 1:00 am we checked in to the Marina side. We were not very happy with the room. The bathtub was gross. We walked around a bit & decided to talk to the front desk. They were very accommodating and moved us to another room. By 3 am this was done. It was an updated room & we were happy. Although your not in the room much, at least we were content & also gave us breakfast coupons. The hotels private island is beautiful with flamingos & iguanas. You can get towels & chairs there. There is a bar/food. The beers are pricey but you can get free beers in the casino. We thought the family side was nicer & a better view, nicer pool area, and another sandy beach with chairs. As two adults we would have stayed there. Didn't see the rooms though. We would definitely go back, but would stay up on Palm Beach next time. The center of Palm Beach with all the shops & restaurants is around Playa Linda, Radisson, etc. We also took the city bus & that worked out well. You don't need to take taxi's unless your in a hurry. Be sure to hit the Happy Hours when you can!
Very good value for our vacation dollar! Everything went off without a hitch, no unwelcome surprises or hidden fees. We appreciate the staff helping us with all our questions up front which made for a wonderful time, without additional worries! Aruba is a great island where folks are friendly and made us feel welcomed, which is why we are considering going back again!
We have been to the Renaissance several times before. The main reason we come to Aruba is the Renaissance private island. No one distrubes you there, no vendors, no pan handlers, and you can relax! The beach is great and you can snorkel as much as you want. All kinds of fish to see. Great place to wade if you are not a swimmer. A great place for kids but if you want to be more alone you can go to the adult beach - Flamingo beach. You can scuba just off the island at a dive spot a hundred feet or so off the rock jetti. The Renaissance Marina is in the center of town so we walk. We eat at the local places soaking up the local music and color. We avoid the high rise area which has gotten very congested. We prefer to relax and enjoy the warm breezes and friendly locals.

Room Information
558 well-appointed rooms and suites in the resort's two areas: Renaissance Ocean Suites and Renaissance Marina Hotel. The Marina Hotel rooms are adults-only and the Ocean Suites rooms are family-friendly. Newly renovated rooms include Internet access, an ironing station, cable TV, in-room safe, mini bar and private balcony or patio. All rooms are SMOKE FREE. Smoking will not be permitted in any guest rooms, corridors or balconies. A recovery fee of $250 will be charged to guests who do not comply.
