Best time

Had a great time. This place actually looked like all the cool pics you see online where others that we've stayed at only will show you the best they offer. We were in "Royal Service" and it was a cool option but we did not take advantage because we were with a few more couples that were not. The few services we did use were top notch. All the rooms were very well appointed and a good size no mater if you were in royal or not. Met a lot of good people there that made the trip even better. The service was great and the best was Carlos Lopez on the beach. He was by far the highlight. We never had to wait on anything. He had us set up every morning with all our towels and our favorite drinks ready to go. The beaches were smaller and more private than most which we liked, unlike large open sand with tons of people. There was a little seaweed a couple of days but not a problem and they'd clean it up every morning. Food was good almost everywhere we ate. There is to many restaurants to eat at in one week trip so I guess I'll have to try those the next time. Watch out for the raccoons on the beach they like quesadillas as well. Can't wait to go back. Shout out to New York,Ohio,Kentucky,Dallas and West Virginia you guys were great and made the trip that much better.

Paradisus La Perla - 2nd Visit

We visited with our daughters in May, 2017, one whom recently graduated with a Spanish Major (we thought it would be a good idea for her to constantly converse, haha). I love this place. I really do. I've been here twice now, without anything to compare it too. And I really don't want to look elsewhere. It's got so much going for it. It's beautiful, clean, the people are so tremendously friendly with a laid back atmosphere, and it's close in walking distance down the beach or a taxi ride (which the bellman will get for you) to Playa del Carmen El Centro shopping/Ferry to Cozumel. We always get the one bedroom swim up suite. The main pool closes at 7PM, mainly because most people are at dinner. It's nice to take a dip when we choose or to take a break from the small crowds at the main pool. We like being around other people, and the main pool is never too overly crowded. The swim up suite includes a jacuzzi and a small seating area and is spacious. The room itself is extremely roomy and comfortable. It's worth a little extra for all of these conveniences. There is always the beach, which is pretty, but rocky in some areas. If you walk to the lifeguard stand just around the 'royal service' seating area, it's clear. Seaweed is part of the ocean people, and it will never really go away. It does not keep you from enjoying the ocean. Breakfast buffet is the same daily pretty much, however there is so much to choose from that you will never get tired of it. I also like the fact that all restaurants, except for the a la carte, allow you to wear casual/dressy shorts for men and not always pants like most other resorts. Daily maid service is always on point. They keep your rooms clean and freshly stocked, no matter the need. Anyone of this resort, whether or not you have contact with them always greet you. If this is how the Mexican heritage is, I want to move there. It made me realize how rude Americans can be to each other when I came home. Special thanks to Alise (sp?), Dominic (bellman) and another older gentleman (whose name I cannot remember) at the front bellman station for always helping us and for words of wisdom for our daughters (older bellman). And, last, but not least, Antonio at the swim up bar -- you are a wonderful, gentleman -- my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed conversations with you and learned quite a bit. You also have the greatest smile. Please tip these people. Some of them arrive before 5am and do not leave until after 7pm. They are the main reason we are happy, comfortable, content. Gracias!

Great Resort but no ceiling fans!

To begin the resort is nice and very well staffed! We choose to do the Royal Service which had some nice perks (easier check-in, Butler service, priority dinner reservations, private pool, access to the spa pools, and more). The resort appears to have been recently renovated and is very modern. All in all we had an amazing time with the exception of two items. 1) The food was inconsistent. We had several good meals but would often try the same places again and be disappointed. The room service was the same. We had an awesome club sandwich the first night and ordered it several times after only to receive untoasted soggy bread with half cooked bacon (it was a let down). 2) The resort has ZERO ceiling fans, wall fans, floor fans, or anything that makes a breeze... Even though several of the restaurants are outside there aren't any fans! I understand that the trade winds blow regularly, but when the wind stopped we were miserable! One night a large group of us ate at the Grill. We were seated at a table overlooking the Gabi bar and were fine for the first 10 min then the wind stopped and a cloud of mosquitos swarmed us. We had to take turns leaving the table to drench ourselves in bug spray just to make it thru the main course. Once again we had a good time, but with a few small changes this place could be great!

You can do better

We stayed at the Paradisus in Cabo and LOVED it. This resort was lacking. It's about an hour drive from the airport. It's in a terrible area. Children were allowed in the adult area. The beach was the safest representation we've seen in Mexico. The pool was ok but not worth the price. All in all, this was the lowest quality resort we've stayed. I would recommend the Iberostar Grand or Valentin.

What's to Love

Hanging with other beach-loving adults at this all-inclusive luxury resort.

Drinking deliciously yummy martinis at "M Bar." Cheers.

Unwinding from a relaxing day beachside. Dip in the Jacuzzi on your balcony if you want.

Upgrading room to Royal Service - luxury suites, private pool, Bali beds at the beach. So worth it.

Two full-time staff members that are dedicated to guests' experience, i.e., spoiling you rotten.

What We'd Change

Rooms are modern and comfortable but can seem dark. With all there is to do, you won't be in the room before dark anyway.

Why You Should Go

Once you land, you're just a short 45-minute from beachy bliss.

Lots of party-inspired classes - tequila tastings, wine tastings, tango lessons.

Zen-like activities, too. Pilates, stretching, meditation. Time to disconnect.

Booking time at YHI spa and melting into a massage, facial treatment or the plunge pool.

You can shimmy over to La Esmeralda. You've got access to their amenities.
