Objective Pros and Cons of Paradisus Cancun

First trip for us to the Paradisus Cancun. Our trip was to celebrate our 50th birthdays. We paid for an oceanfront jr. suite and was checked into the wrong room. They moved us the following afternoon, but we had to repack and switch wrist band and such and it was inconvenient. We have traveled throughout the Carribean and have stayed at many all-inclusives. The resort was attractive. You have to make reservations for the non-buffet restaurant, which you may be able to secure for that day if you call at 7am. Food was average in buffet, nothing special. Mole Restaurant was better but it took 2 days to get into it. The Red Bar was small, and seemed to be more of an older crowd (We had two 19 year olds with u - not much to do at the resort for them at all after sun goes down). The talent in the shows was exceptional. However, as the venue is very poorly laid out for seating, be prepared to either get in a full 1/2 hour or 45 minutes, and then sit near a bunch of parents chilling and having drinks, while there toddler children run around before and during the show. The air conditioning in our second room didn't and wouldn't go lower than 73 degrees (after calling maintenance) that is how all the rooms are programmed. We were fine, but some people wouldn't be comfortable or it would be difficult in the summer months I am sure. Also, we are both tall, but stepping into the shower was quite high, and would be tricky and probably unsafe if you had mobility restrictions or concerns. The hotel website states they have activities by the pool, well there was none. No yoga, no snorkel or kayaks, water bikes, etc as stated in hotel website. This was a major disappointment after choosing this at a premium rate, again with young adults. It would have been nice for them to have a fun way for them to mingle, which would have been less uncomfortable. The beach is BEAUTIFUL and well kept. Bar staff was attentive and pleasant. Again, no activities here and trust me, we were looking as we are very active people. The winds were very high for the week, and there was a red flag out all week. But we enjoyed the big waves and smam a lot. Lifeguards were attentive and even saved a women . Typical people up at dawn to snag pool and beach seats, but that is everywhere. There was a bus stop at the main street in front of the hotel. If you have physical limitations there are about 40 steps up and down to get there and a little walk. It is 50 cents American to get to the Los Islas Mall from there which has several restaurants facing the bay in the evening. Buses run 24 hours. Cabs cost $10. If you are taking young adults and they want to go to CocoBongs, Senior Frogs or other clubs during spring break, get tickets ahead of time. They sell out and it is disappointing. They range from $70-$100 and include you drinks. We came back relaxed, refreshed and tanned. The weather was beautiful as usual. Its what we count on in Cancun. It was fun, but in truth we like more activity, so will be looking to try another resort in our very near future. I hope this helps! Happy travels.

Great vacation!

Rooms were nice, we were in the adults only section. Only thing the shower is glassed in and in plain view if you open your door for like room service. They go out of their way to help you. I even got a better internet connection by calling down to special services. We did have the Royal service, which is nice but it is a quieter section. The pool at the far end has a lot more action and a swim up bar. All in all a nice quiet vacation.

Embarrassingly decadent

The paradisis is a very large all inclusive resort with amenitities that preclude the need to step out of the property to find anything. The entire facility is masterfully thought out and well executed and extremely well maintained. Fine restaurants, beautiful settings, spas, pools with swim up bars and an expansive clean beach. The employees seem truly happy to be working there and are eager to please each guest as it seems that that understand that each guest spends their hard earned money and this expenditure means that they , the employees at the Paradisis have a job. Tip: bring a full 100.00 or 200.00 of USD to hand out each time anyone serves you or you " catch them working." I mean the maids, the gsradeners as well as the wait staff. Soon you will be known and they will be even more eager to see to your needs. All rooms, hallways, restaurants, beaches are groomed and cleaned multiple times throughout each day. One feels as though it would be safe to eat off the floor. The inner atrium is exspansive, some nine floors high and feels like a jungle with vines flowing off each interior balcony reaching to the floor. The atrium restaurant is a fine Japanese cuisine. A full experience complete with water ponds and secluded tables. Book your reservations here with confidence! To put a fine point on my recommendation, this year was my second trip to this resort.

Gorgeous!

I would go back to this resort any time. I loved it here. The food was amazing!!! Great selection, buffet was hot, fresh and delicious!! We loved everything about Paradisus. They even pump the smell of flowers into the main part of the resort. It's so luxurious!! Pictures don't do it justice. We were happy this appeared to be more of an adult place than the grand oasis (we traveled near spring break) so it wasn't too party crazy with college kids. Beautiful beach and water and pools. Service was a ten. Even the room service is included in your stay!!
