Hotel is great if you are traveling with out kids. 1st night the a/c was not working had 2 fans so around 11pm we finally was able to get a room change which the new room was much better. Food horrible the restaurants are so-so the buffet for dinner seems to serve the same thing every night. Breakfast and lunch ok....Service in every aspect of the resort was excellent aside from check in/ check out crew ENSO WAS THE BEST I AM NOT A SEAFOOD PERSON AND THEY MADE ME A FRIED RICE WITH NO SEAFOOD. The waitstaff/bartenders/room service all we super great!! The restaurants are all about the same.. Tacos, Asian, sushi and buffet which serves about the same thing.... Nothing to do for the kids, play area but not entertaining enough they pool area nothing fun to keep the kids entertained. only 1 swim up bar. Evening night show was not so great either. This is a great place for older adults who are nothing looking to do much but relax and dont care about the food...... Beach was always cleaned and service was on point.

99% Awesome

I'll start with the bad parts because they were few and not a deal breaker: 1) The internet is terrible at the hotel. I had no service in my room and horribly slow service using the computers in the check-in area. But the point of vacation is to get away from work so it was for the best, that I couldn't check in even when I wanted too. I did have to upload a 60 MB file at one point and it took 2 hours which is ridiculous these days. 2) The temperature in the room said 18.5c (65 F) but there is no way it was that cool. It was adaptively comfortable but would have been nicer if it could have been a little cooler. Not a deal breaker! 3) The timeshare / "Melia Reward" pitch was poorly done. They promised 90 minutes but it ran an extra 45 minutes or so. They promised a free breakfast but it's an all inclusive resort so we thought "free" must mean they cover the tip - Ha! They asked us to. They promised incentives but didn't deliver on them when we turned down their pitch. 4) The book of credits they give ($550 value) is worthless. For example, to save $20 on an Ocean facing pool Bali Bed, you have to pay $100. On the other beds, pay $50 to save $10. Now the good: 1) The hotel and restaurant staff was super friendly. 2) The food was safe. We were concerned about Mexico but no concerns here, everything was fine. 3) The pool is great. 4) The ocean is amazing and clean. 5) The food options were awesome. The buffet has changing selection daily and is great quality and taste. We ate at almost every restaurant. Mole had a mariachi band play songs our party requested. It was fun. 6) We were celebrating an anniversary and they made it special with rose petals on the bed when we arrived, champagne and fruit in the room, and an incredible view of the sunrise over the ocean. TIP: bring cash for Tips. The staff deserve them. More on the timeshare pitch. They propose $12,000 one time payment for 20 weeks, but the maintenance fee is $1200 per year. That means you're paying $1800 for the vacation here without airfare and without transfers. We paid $1600 including everything. So it doesn't make sense to purchase this and be locked into the same place for 20 years.

Thieves On Staff

I will start with the good. We traveled in early September 2016. The beach is absolutely stunning, and so are the pools. The wait staff is great, and continuously walks around asking if you need anything which is great. The food at the restaurants is relatively good compared to other all-inclusive resorts that I have been to (particularly Mole and Ibana). You must call every morning to get a reservation for the evening. They also had brand name liquors which was great (I've been to other all inclusive resorts that do not have brand name liquors and the drinks were not that great). I definitely recommend a beach view room, and the royal service is not really necessary. Unfortunately though, on our first day, jewelry was stolen out of my suitcase. We had luckily locked our passports, wallets, and more expensive jewelry inside the hotel room safe. When we reported the stolen jewelry to the front desk, their basic response was 'we are not responsible for items not in the safe.' What I took from that is that your luggage and anything else not locked in the safe is a free-for-all for the staff. They even told us that they could tell who had used a key to get in and out of our room during the time of the theft, but that they couldn't investigate any further. This is pretty disappointing and made it hard to enjoy the rest of the trip since we were paranoid the rest of the time - the hotel room safe only fits so much. I did file a report with the hotel guest services management, but they refused to give me a copy of the report that I had filled out. I'm wondering if they filed my report right into the waste basket :).
