The biggest mistake

The land with palms and the beach was beautiful, but overall the hotel was duty. First night we wanted to go to another hotel, but everything was booked, we were willing to lose the money, at the end, we ended going to Kmart and buying our own sheets and pillow, because everything was nasty. In the restaurant was beautiful by the beach and people was really nice, but the tablecloth, chair cover, everything was nasty. I was afraid to eat and we just ended up just buying coffee and bagel.

Disappointing

I was excited to book this resort because it is a Blue Flag Beach and it is known for its excellent snorkeling. I read two guidebooks which recommended this resort for snorkeling. However, upon arrival, I was very irritated to find out that there are RIPTIDES at this beach. If I would have known that fact, I would have NEVER booked this resort. The riptides are clearly marked by buoys but I would not set foot in the water nor would I let my husband and son. I would recommend renting a car because you can drive to different beaches (without riptides). The room was okay but it needed updating. The food was good but expensive like on most islands. The Caribbean Night was a nice event. The only thing going for this resort is the view of the ocean. I booked a garden view room and was surprised to have direct beach access and a nice patio to sit out on.

Best place ever!!!!

I stayed there at the pelican for 6 nights and it was the most tranquil place ever! I paid for a garden view thinking that is what I was going to get, but little did I know I get a beautiful view of the plant life and the Caribbean Sea!!!! I couldnt of asked for more. The staff is on top of everything you need. My first night there my phone wasn't picking up Internet in my room so I called the next day. 10 minutes later I got a call saying the antenna had been changed and I had no issue after. The cleaning staff are on top of it and nice as can be. Miss Lee Lee was one of them and she helped me with anything I needed including fixing my dress for the wedding I was getting ready to attend. The owner Chuck takes you on day and night snorkels which ever you choose. I recomend the night snorkel! He takes pictures of you with all the things you can hold, and also all the things you find and gives you a disk of all the photos plus he emails all the pictures he edits for you. The food is to die for and the entertainment is really really good. I will be returning as often as possible. Needless to say the prices are on point and you get more than what you pay for. I couldn't of asked for a better vacation and it was all thanks to this resort! Below are pictures of the night snorkel. I would post a view of the room but the image is too large but trust me when I say it's beautiful

Good but,...

The Pelican Palms resort was really quite good but, the weather may have been a factor reducing overall experience. I say this because, it was very windy while we were there and, this (presumably) made it too difficult to enjoy the local beach and reef areas for snorkeling. We really enjoyed the resort's Caribbean night with dancers in costume and on stilts plus, several fire dancers manipulating torches. And, the food (a buffet that night) was excellent as, were other meals we had there. The front desk folks were quite helpful in arranging tours for us. We did go to Buck Island and, enjoyed it but, even here, the wind was a factor stirring up waves making snorkeling difficult at times. Ultimately, we rented a car and went to Rainbow beach on the West end of the island where the wind was not a factor. We also enjoyed taking the bio-luminescence kayak tour one night.

Hotel Description

Palms at Pelican Cove in St. Croix: Limin' at the Cove

Priority one at the Palms at Pelican Cove is snorkeling, and gear is complimentary to guests - even your kids can check out masks and snorkels to use in shallower water close to shore or in the swimming pool, the largest on St Croix. This charming hotel, about three miles from Christiansted, is on the north central shore of St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands and offers some of the best snorkeling on the island.

Of course, the stunning beauty of the hotel's 1,200-ft palm-lined stretch of beach may entice you to settle into a lounge chair for a day of chilling out, or limin', as the locals say.

After a day of snorkeling, dinner is the next priority. Whether you're a picky eater or an adventurous one, the menu at the Palms Restaurant has plenty of tasty treats in store, including some of the best Chicken Alfredo. Choose from American favorites like ribeye steak, or gourmet Caribbean dishes. Local fish and veggies are always available, too. And be sure to order a Limin' de Coconut, a tropical drink featuring the local Cruzan Coconut Rum.

The Palms at Pelican Cove may be a small, intimate resort, but activities abound. Grab a racquet and experience the unique feel of the hotel's Klaycote tennis courts. If golf is your thing, try your swing at one of the island's two world-class courses. You can even try yoga on the beach.

One vacation just isn't enough for all the potential adventures in St Croix. A trip to Salt River Bay at night is a can't-miss experience. Darkness is important - as close to a new moon as possible. That's when the water lights up like fireflies each time you disturb it. This marine phenomenon, known as bioluminescence, is sure to delight the kid in everyone.

This hotel is NOT all-inclusive. Food and drink must be purchased separately.
Unless otherwise specified, all services are available for an additional charge.
