Xcaret

This resort was beautiful and in a great location. It was very convenient to be right next to the park. This was definitely a location that you just stay at the resort and be content. They could improve on food, trying to be too americanized.

Overall Good Experience

Overall it was a very good experience...I loved the proximity to Xcaret (just next door)...it wasn't too crowded in February...the only negative is that the room smelled like cigarette smoke...the concierge in my building told me there were actually building disignated as non-smoking....when I called the front desk to see about getting my room changed, they told me that all rooms were non-smoking, offered to send me air purifier to my room which didn't help at all....so I spent as little time as possible in my room (which is fine if that's what I chose but not when I'm forced tostay away)....

Beyond our expectations

We chose our honeymoon location (grand occidental flamenco xcaret) at last minute - as we had initially intended on going to Greece but had to stay more "local" to our home due to a family emergency. I thought I would be bummed the entire trip and comparing everything with what we COULD be doing in Greece. Which was NOT the case at all! Upon arriving to our hotel we found everyone from the bell hop to the restaurant staff to be very accommodating and friendly. The location was absolutely gorgeous and the dining options were all very tasty and fun! We were able to take advantage of a couples special they were having for a poolside massage which I would recommend to anyone who is visiting this hotel. We truly felt pampered - which is exactly what I want when I'm at an all-inclusive resort! We definitely plan on taking a trip back :)

This was a wonderful vacation!

Overall I thought the Occidental Grand Xcaret was excellent. The grounds are beautiful and shuttles run regularly - which is necessary because the property is so large. The rooms and common areas are great as well as the service. The pools are gorgeous and the beach is nice, but a bit small. There seems to be some minor problems with the reserved dining, but it worked out OK for us. We are planning to book another trip to this resort next year!

769 guestrooms and suites, located in a number of small three-story buildings surrounded by gardens, pools, and river channels. There are no elevators. All rooms are spacious, and feature contemporary dark-wood furniture and barefoot-friendly tile or marble floors. Bathrooms contain a roomy, marble stall shower with a bench and a marble vanity but do not include a tub. Each room is equipped with air-conditioning, in-room safe, satellite TV, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, mini fridge, a balcony or terrace furnished with table and chairs, telephone with data port connection, and alarm clock. Cribs and extra bed available upon request.

This hotel is located adjacent to Xcaret park and offers great accesibility to everything the park as to offer as well as a tranquil hotel experience. Rooms are spread out in a number of buildings built among beautiful gardens. There's a nice amount of dining options but be sure to see the show at Xcaret park one evening.

There isn't much of a beach here to speak of but any of the pools spread throughout the property offer relief from the sun.

Riviera Maya offers cultural experiences second to none. Occidental Grand Xcaret is unique in its ability to show you the true Mayan culture.

Occidental Grand Xcaret is a magical resort, located on the Caribbean coast of Mexico adjacent to the spectacular Xcaret Park, offering a unique vacation experience to suit a variety of tastes. The nature park is one of Yucatan's principal visitor attractions. The resort's distinct characteristics, such as the expansive subterranean river that forms channels through the cobblestone streets, create a sense of harmony in this exotic setting.

Lodging at Occidental Grand Xcaret is divided into four sections. With the exception of the colorful, village-like Pueblo de Rio along the river, each section has its own pool and sundecks. In the exclusive Royal Club, the private pool complex includes a 30-foot-diameter hot tub. In the Cangrejo section, the large pool is crossed by a stone bridge and contains five cool-water spa tubs. The resort's main pool is located at the Flamenco section. It consists of three enormous swimming areas connected by channels beneath stone bridges.

Hotel facilities include: a health-and-beauty spa complete with sauna, steam room, and spa tub with various kinds of massage and body and facial treatments; a state-of-the-art fitness center; a business center with Internet access; and an indoor/outdoor children's activities center that includes video games, a pool, and a playground. Activities for both adults and children begin in the morning and run until well after dark. Among them are water aerobics, dance lessons, beach volleyball, and bicycle tours. Like all major Mayan Riviera hotels, the hotel is equipped with a water-purification system.
