Great Resort!
Spent four fantastic nights (May 8th - 12th 2012) at Now Jade. Enjoyed every minute. The food was above avg for an all inclusive resort. The infinity pool overlooking the beach was awesome. We were treated like royalty. The evening entertainment was great too!
I will voice two small dissappointments that we had no problem avoiding but some may not. The beach was small and the water had quite a bit of seaweed (since the pool was literally on the beach we had no issue with the seaweed). In fact every morning the staff dug several pits and buried the weed. Secondly the resort has a problem with birds around the outdoor oceanfront dinning patios. That was easily avoidable since the dinning room had floor to cieling windows with the same great view of the Caribbean. The past three years we've been to Dreams Cancun, Secrets Santuary - Cap Cana (unfortunately this is no longer a Secrets property) and Zoetry in Punta Cana. The Now resort was as good (service) and even better (food) that the others at a lower price. Highly recomend!
We enjoyed our trip to the Now Jade so much that we literally thought we were in a waking dream.
From the variety and quality of food, to the friendliness and diligence of the staff, to the polished hallways and pristine grounds, and comfy, modern and clean rooms...I simply cannot say enough about this place. I do not want to be overly effusive since that might seem dis genuine, but I do hesitate to share my happiness for fear that others will soon find out our secret paradise and it will become too crowded!
The scene was a mix of young couples, some singles in town for weddings, and older couples who seemed to be enjoying an anniversary. As a single who went with friends, we found plenty of people in our age bracket (30s) to socialize with.
The staff at the swim up bar and water activities love their job, and it shows. The pool area is perfectly kept and maintained, and if you prefer a delicious poolside ceviche and hamburger, go to the adults only quiet pool. You can relax in hammocks in the water! If you are looking for a good day drinking party try the activity pool with the great DJ spinning top40.
I cant believe the restaurants either. My favorite was Mercure, the French restaurant. There was literally foie gras on the menu! I did not expect this at an all inclusive. I am sad that I did not get to try the Mexican restaurant or the Spanish one, but this is just a reason to come back soon.
The best thing is that even though we did tip our maid, and waitstaff, we were NEVER made to feel that we had to and they were always exceedingly grateful when we did. The no tacky bracelet or reservations policy for dining is a refreshing and mature departure from the cheesy all inclusive scene elsewhere.
You will not find a cleaner, more modern, more focused hotel for this money. The only way I can thank the Now Jade for my experience is to write this review.
We stayed at the Now Jade and we couldn't have been happier! It was just as beautiful in person as it was in the pictures. We were greeted in the lobby and offered a Welcome drink (which was delicious, by the way), and the check in was extremely smooth and easy.
We decided to see our room (tropical view) first, before deciding to upgrade, and we were taken by golf cart around the resort to see our options. After seeing two rooms right next to each other that had both a pool and ocean view, our party of 4 quickly made up our minds to upgrade! It was a no brainer for us, especially for the minimal amount it cost to do so. The room was spacious, clean and beautiful. The bed was very comfortable and I loved the pillows. The bathroom was awesome, with a jacuzzi tub and huge walk in shower. Our room was cleaned every day, our fridge was stocked and our floors were swept. We tipped our housekeeper well, as she worked hard to clean up after the spill we had on the bed and the sand we tracked in from the beach. She was awesome!
The pool was beautiful and clean and it never felt overcrowded. We never had any issues finding chairs. And although it took a little time for the pool waiter/waitress to come back with your drinks, they always did with a smile.
All of the food was great, but it was especially amazing at dinner! We ate at Spice and Capers, which were the Asian and the Italian restaurants. Excellent food and great service! We had dessert at Capers - Cannolis and Tirimisu...YUM! If you decide to eat outside, just be prepared to dodge the incoming birds. There were tons of them, and they were just waiting to pounce on unattended food. The wait staff was very quick in cleaning up after guests left the table though. : )
Loved Coco Cafe. We could get our coffee any way we wanted...blended, on the rocks, or hot!. And it was reallly tasty!
I am hard pressed to find anything negative to say about this resort, but I guess if I had to say one bad thing, it would be that although the staff was wonderful, there was a bit of a language barrier, and at times they would just smile and say "Si" or "my pleasure", and you could tell they had no clue what you had just said or asked.
We are going back to Cancun with our kids in July, and will be staying at Dreams. We will be so happy if it at least meets or exceeds our stay at the Now Jade! Perhaps we better start brushing up on our Spanish. At least we will have our kids with us, whose Spanish is much better than ours! lol
And, we used CheapCaribbean.com to book both of our trips! It was easy and we feel that we got really good deals on both trips! Thanks, CheapCaribbean! : )

Exceeded expectations :)
I've never been to Mexico before, but had heard many of the negative stereotypes/stories about safety, drug cartels, bad reviews, blah, blah, blah. But I booked the trip anyways as a surprise for my husband (he had been to Mexico twice before) since it was such a great deal and they had jacuzzi tubs on the balconey. Away we went from May 6-10, 2012.
Travel from Boston was surprisingly easy...we were at the Cancun airport by 11 am and found the Olympus Tour guides easily. No worries about being accosted by other vendors, like I have been in other countries...Cancun's airport is clean, friendly, and nice. Olympus was more than professional, courteous, and got us on our way within 10 minutes. Kudos to them!
We arrived at Now Jade by 12 noon and had upgraded to preferred members,so we were wisked away to the preferred club for an easy check-in & refreshments. The only downside was the additional $400 in resort coupons were not exactly what I had thought (naive me thought I was going to be able to use them all for free stuff!) but encouragement to use the spa, upgrade wine, etc. -- and that they wanted us to do a tour of Dreams timeshares in order to get a free spa visit. Since our time was limited, we said no to both and they were fine, not pushy at all. Luckily, our room was ready so up we went. Upgrading to preferred was definitely worth it -- top shelf alcohol and the best coffee on the resort is in the preferred club.
ROOM -- Our room was clean (#8210), nice, and had a killer view -- but with 2 full sized beds. We did squeeze into one of them for a night, then requested another room with a king -- but after seeing that room's view, we stayed put and they pushed the beds together. The view we had of the quiet pool and the ocean was worth this minor inconvenience. Was the room picture-perfect like the brochures? Not exactly, but they were very nice and well-kept. The only thing that I would mention to first-time travelers to Mexico is that the water definitely has an odor that was a bit jarring at times. It won't stop me from traveling there again, I just wish I had known beforehand...blame me for not doing a bit more research before I left. No issues with either of us for getting sick and there is always plenty of safe bottled water to drink.
FOOD & DRINK -- The food was great -- always lots of options to choose from. Our favorite restaurant was Tamarindo, the Mexican option. Honestly, we lived on ceviche, guacamole, pico de gallo, fish tacos, and chips because they were so good! Why bother eating Italian or French food in Mexico?? The margaritas were perfection as well and there were always plenty of staff to replenish your drink of choice.
BEACH & POOL -- The beach and pool areas were great -- we had no issues finding lounge chairs at all. The beach is cleaned daily so the other reviews on here about too much seaweed and too many rocks is a little crazy in my opinion. Now Jade is relatively secluded with a big beach to walk and they do a great job at maintaining in front of the resort. But once you get beyond their property lines, there is trash on the beach which is too bad for such a gorgeous stretch of the ocean. It's not like an exploded dumpster everywhere, but there are plastic bottles that get washed ashore and there aren't any other resorts or private homes around to maintain in front of their property. I bet there will be someday.
STAFF -- What made this trip so enjoyable for us was the friendly attitude of all employees of Now Jade. For Caribbean travel, we've been to the Westin on Grand Bahamas and to Sandals Negril in Jamaica which are both at least 4 stars, not to mention that we live in a resort destination in the US -- and Now Jade's staff surpassed all of those resorts. It felt like they were happy to have you there, as opposed to barely tolerating your presence. This really goes far in our book. We were so impressed with how hard everyone worked and how nice they were that we tipped as often as we could for doing a job well done. Both my husband and I have worked in the service and hospitality industry and know how hard it is to make guests happy -- and we witnessed zero complaints whatsoever with other visitors. That is a testament to Now Jade's staff.
NIGHTLIFE & EXCURSIONS -- they are there if you want them, but we were wiped out by the end of the day :)
We will definitely be back to Mexico and will be torn between trying another resort closer to Playa Del Carmen or coming back to Now Jade. Either way, it will be great! Cheapcaribbean.com made it very easy, too!

Whats the best hotel for a suite, private villa, yet all inclusive vacation?2 answers

Piggye
Now Jade is great for all inclusive. If you are looking for privacy, any hotel will not offer that. Adult only ones may be a little more private, but the most private ones would be villas.

Now Jade has enormous rooms. Walk in to a 8 x 8 entry w/ mini fridge/closet. Bathroom has private toilet area, huge walk in shower stall, jucuzzi tub and 2 sink/vanities. Bedroom is either 2 doubles or one king with 2 steps down to sitting area and balcony. We stayed for a week. only complaint on rooms. Loads of marble in hallways, rooms, so not super quiet. Heard doors banging in the middle of the night. :( Hope this helps.
