No-frills all-inclusive

This is not a fancy resort, but it's inexpensive, and worth the money. All of the public areas are kept clean, but the carpets and walls (especially in the hallways & guestroom areas) are pretty shopworn. We didn't spend a lot of time indoors of course, and I think that's what the management expects. Not a huge problem -- we understood going in that this was a "budget" vacation. The bathroom was very, very, very, very small. Think cruise-ship bathroom, but a little tighter. Otherwise our room was perfectly fine, and we had a great view. The restaurant and food areas were more modern/updated than the rooms, and all were kept very clean. The quality of the food was very "meh." My wife and I are not foodies, so no big whoop. Breakfast in the main buffet restaurant was quite good; lunch and dinner, not so much. We recommend the little coffee shop with ice cream and pastries if you just want a snack. The Prop Bar is a good for burgers & beer. They play loud music in the evening; great if you want to go dance (and we did), but if you just want to grab something to eat/drink or sit & chat, do it before the sun goes down. The reservation-only TexMex and Japanese restaurants are recommended and worth your time. They need to keep the outdoor bar areas cleaner -- there's a horrible stink at the swim-up bar and the Social Bar. It's the smell of rotting fruit, so they clearly don't keep the areas behind the bar as clean as they should. Seriously, there were always a couple of empty seats at the swim-up bar near the frozen drink machines, and that's a really popular place to have a drink, so it's gotta be pretty bad for those seats to always be empty. Bring a lot of $1s and $5s. Tipping is allowed here, and generous tipping will get you far, especially with the bartenders. If you want a drink in a big glass instead of the default little glass, just ask. Most bartenders were very friendly, but not all. We purchased the Diamond Club upgrade. The biggest advantages are that you don't have to fiddle with a stupid beach towel process, your hotel checkout is way quicker & smoother, and you just tend to get quicker & better service from the staff. We were unhappy with our ground-level no-view room, so they moved us to a 3rd-floor ocean view. There are many other perks, but those are the ones we appreciated most. Good beach, but we spent a lot more time at the pool area & swim-up bar. Overall, this is a semi-budget resort that caters mostly to college kids and young adults, but it's worth the money. You want Sandals, go to Sandals, but you'll pay triple what you will to stay here. If you just want relaxation by the beach or pool, this is for you. If you want great food and a luxury resort feel, consider another hotel.

Enjoyable Vacation

Wife's birthday celebration, we enjoyed our stay. Our primary objective was to eat, drink and relax. The resort could use some serious renovations. Cleanliness adequate but carpet need to be replaced. The service was excellent, dining room attendants, especially Jamie S, Kenny and Donald were exceptional. In the Japanese restaurant, Demetri was absolutely super. Very entertaining and a delightful meal. The bartenders, David and Andre were great. Not only were they very responsive but even remembered our names. The down side of the trip was our room, a major inconvenience, bathroom way too small but we overcame adversities by spending little time in the room. All in all, we had a wonderful time and would visit again.

Memories Grand Bahama Beach and Casino resort

The resort was just "average" Although the staff was pleasant, the hotel was lacking in the WOW factor. The pool was well equipped and comfortable, with beach access. The outside staff was engaging and pleasant. The buffet inside the resort and at the outside venues were average at best. If you didn't arrive at the opening of the service the food items were cold. Other than the few made to order items the buffet items were not kept hot. The selection of salad and fresh fruit was plentiful, But by day 4 the buffet items were less than appealing. We arrived at H Tex-Mex Steakhouse at the opening of service. don't waste your time, the service and food quality was sub-standard. An appetizer was served after the dinner menu items The portions were shockingly small and food was not hot. I ordered a pulled pork slider and mashed potatoes, both were cold. The steak selections off the menu were not part of the all inclusive items. Dinner and drinks at Nagano was the best of the vacation and Prop Club followed with great food and drink. Beans Cafe and Ice Cream Bar was a great stop daily. The lobby bar made a great martini. Room service was the worst. After check in at 3pm on Day 1, we didn't receive our room towels and pillow cases until 8pm after multiple calls. This was a daily occurrence, the room was provided with large towels but the hand towels and wash clothes were provided only one day of a 6 day vacation. We ran out of toilet paper one day and had to grab a maid in the hallway to get a new roll. We were not able to use any of the Resort Credit that was included in the promotion, The $150 credit was split between the room upgrade ($80), Spa credit ($50) and Wine purchase ($20). The front desk indicated that the room upgrade was not available the entire 6 days I was there. The Spa credit could only be used on a 50min or greater service and the Wine credit could be used on a bottle of wine costing $30-400 Although, we made the best of our vacation, and enjoyed the relaxation and family time together, I would not return to Memories Grand Bahama Beach and Casino Resort. I would pay a little more to get a little more.
