GOOD experience at best

I planned our stay at Melia and requested for an early arrival AND a bottle of Champagne for our 25th wedding anniversary. We got there about 12:30 PM and NO early check in was available and NO Champagne was available. The Island then experienced a blackout, when we learned that Melia either does not have a back-up generator or it is not operational. We were offered an "upgraded room" on the 9th floor, which was useless in the blackout. I then requested and was given that same "special room" on the first floor, but without the power, we were unable to get a ket and had to rely on a manager to escort us to our room....BUT DID NOT GET TO CHECK IN UNTIL 5PM....no room key was given to us until 10PM.. The food was okay at best, the room is warm, the bed is hard and the rug was wet. The resort is one of the older ones on the island. We knew that going in. It was "good" but could use some renovation time!. The staff were friendly, but slow. There are many other choices in Nassau....no need to be locked to Melia. Overall, we had a NICE time, but not a GREAT time!

Bahamas Newbie

Overall, it was a good visit. The Bad - We were not told that the check in wasnt until 3pm. We had to kill 3 1/2 hours, fresh off of a plane before being able to go to our room. There was only two people working the front desk which caused long waits. The phones never got answered when calling to ask questions. The food at the resort was just ok! Breakfast at The Market was cold everyday unless you waited to have an omelet made and that was a 20 minute process. The Good - The Staff was TOP NOTCH and very nice. Never passed an employee without a smile or a hello. Very helpful. The facility, pools and beach were always in perfect shape, well taken care of and clean. A truly beautiful facility. The facility was always planning events for their guests. I would highly recommend Melia Nassau Beach to any of my family and friends.

Good Time

Overall my trip was awesome! We had a pretty awesome view, the staff were for the most part friendly and the whole experience was pretty nice. I would recommend to anyone looking for a decent resort. I would say it seems more of a couples or more family oriented resort. I went with my best friend as a girls trip and seemed out of place. Also there wasn't much entertainment for anyone of our age we found ourselves wanting to leave the resort to find some nightly entertainment. Other than that we had a blast the food was decent, we met plenty of new friends and I would recommend this to anyone going as a couple or a family!

AVOID !!!

Don't know where to start there were so many issues. I truly wish I didn't have to write this review. Our family is very low maintenance and don't expect everything to be perfect but this was just unacceptable. It was just not our family that had problems, everyone we spoke with had issues with this resort! 1st day electric went out, 2nd day no water. Wifi is horrible! TV snowy and almost unwatchable. Most food & coffee cold! If you are a bird lover this place is for you, you will experience up close with seagulls flying in and taking food right off your plates! And let's not forget the pigeons that sit on rafters in the outside dining places pooping everywhere! DO NOT UPGRADE TO "LEVEL" STATUS! You get nothing more than a regular guest! Every menu offers very little selections unless you want to pay more $$. The only thing great about this resort is the beach & water, but you can get this at any of the other resorts on the island. And one of the only other highlights were the cats that roam the property. If not a cat lover this place isn't for you. Also have to give credit to a bunch of guys on beach that offer glass bottom boat & snorkeling tours. Devon, Bosco, etc. This was a great experience and worth the $50 (cash) per person. Unfortunately this was the first vacation that we couldn't wait to get home!
