Okay Purchase

CheapCaribbean.com was great with paying for the trip over an extended period. However, when we arrived it wasn't everything we thought it would be. 1. We were placed in a room that we did not pick. Once we tried we changed it, the staff at the Front Desk was nonchalant and didn't even try to accommodate us. Our room got changed once we stated that we were going to speak with the Manager. The website is VERY misleading. 2. Once you get on the island, Domino's was the only place that delivered. It was very pricy and not that good. The only other choice was room service, which shut down at 11:00 PM. 3. The taxes overcharged everywhere you had to go. 4. We were not pleased at all. We spend way too much money on cabs and food. All inclusive would have been much better.

Beautiful Island

'I love the beach, therefore enjoyed my vacation. I always read reviews, but do not write them often. I have to say that usually, I look at the bad comments and ignore them. The comments in this case were pretty much right on. The staff at Morning Star were not helpful or friendly. When we arrived, we were not even sure where to check-in. We were early so our room was not ready. We were told that the preparation would be expedited and we gave our cell phone number and were told that we would get a call. We waited several hours and finally I went to the desk and asked if our room was ready and the girl said yes. I asked why we didn't get a call and she said it just became ready. I'm sure that if I didn't ask, we would have waited much longer. There is definitely a smell in the room and the hotel is in need of updating. There are not a lot of choices in places to eat and the prices are high. A cab ride out will cost you $24.00 a couple round trip, so you are more or less stuck. There is not a lot to do in the evening. My husband and I played 500 Rummy everyday!! So, seven days was too much!! The beach and the trip to St. John's and Magen's Bay were wonderful. It was worth the trip just to enjoy the beauty of these beaches.

Really nice resort.

Originally we booked to stay at the Morning Star building, but we were not impressed at all. The Morning star buildings look old and outdated. Our room had a moldy stench. We complained and they sent someone to spray air freshner and change the air conditioner filter which had expired. But that didnt help. Kudos to carribean.com they refunded the extra money we paid for the Morning Star building. We ended up moving to the Building on the reef and it was so much better...much more modern. Customer service is sperb. The workers are so friendly. The food is super expensive...holy cow. Just be prepared to shell out some money. You either pay by credit card or they charge your room....so make sure you pay attention....double check your bill when you check out. I was charged for 800 #'s which are included as part of your $45.00 resort fee. Once I called them they removed it. I highly recommend getting a car, there are some restuarants near by that are cheaper than eating at the resort....or get the all inclusive package . Taxi's are expensive, they charge per person, so getting a rental if you are with a large group is the way to go. The beach is amazing.....the pools are amazing. We always got fresh clean towels for the pool and beach. We always found chairs to sit on and barely crowded at all. The drinks are expensive.....2 pina coladas will run you 28 dollars and thats with taxes included. Definitely attend the Wednesday Managers cocktail....wow..free cocktails and delicious appertizers. Also they offer a ferry boat that can drop off in downtown! We took it a couple of times and the kids loves it. Be careful of the local people selling in the tents in the downtown area ...they are super expensive. Look for a store called paradise mix its in the alley....this store is amazing...super affordable souvenirs. Coki beach is amazing....they have vendor's that sell local food.

ST.Thomas Trip

Over all the trip was great. You have to be able to look past the dirtiness of the locals at St. Thomas. They are not motivated to keep the place very clean. Luckily the Caribbean waters make up for that. You will not find a better place to dive and snorkel then St. Thomas and surrounding islands. Unfortunately the whole "Black lives matters" disease have gripped their claws in the local people here as well and I could see a major difference in the way I was treated this year being a white male. There is a prejudice vibe to say the least, but again I'm able to look past that too because I am a self-reliable person. Hopefully they will understand they are only hurting themselves and their economy by acting that way. The Frenchman Marriott is a good choice. The A/C worked fantastic which can be a blessing in that humidity. The only con was the parking which is pretty much a problem anywhere on the island. The price of food is outrageous at any resort. I highly recommend educating yourself to find out the local eating establishments away from the tourist traps. You will get better food at an affordable price. Hull bay is one example. Its not easy to find but it's worth the adventure. (Get the ribeye steak) :) Pretty much all the roads are like some ones long worn out driveway. It can be very sketchy, especially at night. I highly recommend you being back at your hotel after the sun sets for a multiple of reasons. I will go back again next summer as I have for the last 4 years. My phone got water damage on the first full day on a snorkel trip so I have no pictures to share which sucks, but I have said is completely honest.
