Make-A-Wish Youngster Giving Away Trip to North Texas “Kid of Character”
Dallas (October 6, 2012) - Plano-based CheapCaribbean.com and Make-A-Wish are honored to help 13-year-old Mary Margaret Deering choose a “Kid of Character” to receive an all-expenses paid trip for four to an island. Highland Park resident Mary Margaret is suffering from an aggressive brain tumor. In August, Make-A-Wish, which grants the wishes of sick children, worked with CheapCaribbean.com to grant Mary Margaret’s wish to go to Jamaica and swim with the dolphins. Now, she wants to pay the experience forward giving another North Texas kid a dream vacation through the “CheapCaribbean.com Kid of Character” contest. Starting October 6 through November 1, 2012, Mary is asking North Texas residents to nominate someone (18 and under) who has done great things in their school, community, neighborhood or home in a 250-word, or less, essay. Entries can be submitted by November 1st at Kid Of Character. Mary will choose the winning entry and CheapCaribbean.com will give away a vacation for 4.
“Make-A-Wish and CheapCaribbean.com helped to provide me with my one true wish,” said Make-A-Wish recipient, Mary Margaret. “Now, I’m honored to work with CheapCaribbean.com to pay this opportunity forward and help kick off the “Kid of Character” contest.”
CheapCaribbean.com, a website dedicated to Caribbean and Mexico travel, announced in June a nationwide sponsorship of Make-A-Wish, a global organization that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions.
"One of CheapCaribbean.com's core values has always been to give thanks by giving back. We see this sponsorship as an opportunity to further support our local community and destinations we serve," said Josh Paine, CEO of CheapCaribbean.com. "While our associates have always strived to make a difference where they live and work, this gives us the reach to make an even bigger impact./p>
This is the first national cause-related sponsorship the travel company has supported. All three of CheapCaribbean.com's offices; Dallas, Tx., Doylestown, Pa., and Phoenix, Az. will work with local Make-A-Wish chapters to grant travel wishes for children and their families. As a part of this relationship, CheapCaribbean.com will donate travel package vacations as auction items and provide monetary contributions to the charity.
"Since we opened our doors, we have made service a part of who we are and what we stand for," said Paine. "We want our customers to not just be aware of our efforts, but also get involved and help make children's wishes come true."
CheapCaribbean.com shares opportunities for customers and business partners to get involved, starting with the opportunity to make donations to Make-A-Wish during the booking process or make a direct donation at CheapCaribbean.com Sponsors Make-A-Wish.
"We are happy to have CheapCaribbean.com and its associates join us in granting the wishes of these courageous children." said David A. Williams, president and chief executive officer of Make-A-Wish America. "This gives children the opportunity to explore the beach and the ocean while spending quality time with their families. We are excited to work with CheapCaribbean.com to help children make their wishes come true."About Make-A-Wish
