2nd Time Visit - Not as good as the first

My boyfriend and I visited this resort for the second time and have just returned. We stayed here around the same time last year and had a fantastic stay which prompted our return this year. We definitely noticed many differences from our first visit. I will start by saying that the Luxury side is beautiful and well maintained. If you are not traveling with children spend the extra money and stay at the luxury side. saying that the Luxury side is beautiful and well maintained. If you are not traveling with children spend the extra money and stay at the luxury side. Upon arrival we were greeted with the cool wash cloths and welcome cocktail. Our room was not ready but became available right around 3pm (the check in time of the hotel). We were escorted to our room by a "butler" - I use that term very loosely as we never really saw him again. We got to our room and were shocked that our view was of a vacant sand lot. Our room last year was on a higher floor over looking the pool. We were quite disappointed for the money we spent to get that view. Quite honestly if rooms are on that side of the hotel they should at least make a view of a garden or something. Disappointment #1. We requested a room change to a pool view the next morning and were told we would be put on a list and to check back later in the day. When we checked back we were advised our name was not even put on the list. We were then put on the list again and were told to check back at 5pm. We had dinner reservations that evening at 7pm so we were waiting for our room change before getting ready for dinner. We checked again and were told they would get call us when our new room was ready. Our new room finally became ready around six so we wound up showering in the old room and finishing getting ready in our new room. Crazy!! We were escorted to our new room and it was literally moved right around the corner and again didn't have the pool view we requested - Disappointment #2. We let the front desk know we were disappointed. We proceeded to dinner and enjoyed our night. At 11pm our phone rang (we were sleeping). We were notified that they moved us to the wrong room and were coming to move us again to a pool view room. Yes it was great we got to move but at 11pm we were packing our room up to move on to room number 3. Once we settled in to the new room we quickly realized that there was no toilet paper or towels in the room :( We were happy with our new room located on the 1st floor of building 25 looking out to the pool. (Once we got toilet paper & towels) We then had issues with our keys not working in the new room. My boyfriend may 2 trips the 1st day in our new room before we got a key that worked. The next day I went to the front desk to get a key as my boyfriend needed to go off property and took the key. I got a new key walked back to my room and it didn't work. Luckily the maid was in our room at the time, knew us and knew we had previously had an issue. I called down to the front desk and they had someone from security come to the room. He made adjustments but told me I had to go back to the front desk to get another new key. I went back to the front desk got a new key returned back to the room and the key did not work again. I was livid. I called back and the girl told me she would contact security. As I write this review, I never heard back from security. I made my boyfriend handle it when he got back as I was so upset at this point. One night we came back from dinner to water leaking from the ceiling in our bathroom. Maintenance did promptly come and fix it. We had a butler last year who checked on us every single day, offered to assist us with anything we needed, made sure our mini bar was restocked, ran a bath for us as a surprise and was absolutely amazing. This year nothing so when they say there is a butler service there really isn't. In speaking to other guests they said the same thing. Never saw them since the day of check in Make dinner reservations the day you arrive. Our favorite restaurant is Mikado the Japanese hibachi. We also enjoyed Picasso. None of the restaurants have Air Conditioning or if they do it is not very cool at all. This past week was extremely hot so you are dripping sweat while trying to enjoy your dinner. Room service has a very limited menu and you cannot order the pizza after 10pm??? It does take quite a while for it to be delivered. The late night food is all the way in the village. From the luxury side it is quite a walk. I would recommend to management to have something set up at the luxury side. We found that some of the staff was not as friendly as last year. I must give a shout out to Kevon at the swim up bar and Raymond at the lobby bar. These two were so much fun. On their days off things were not the same. The resort is huge be prepared to walk. If you have any type of handicap or trouble moving around this is not the place for you. Overall, we did have a great time but for the price you pay it is a disappointment. We have previously stayed at Secrets and hands down it is a much more luxurious resort. We will probably not return back to this resort even though my boyfriend grew up in the area and it is close to his family and friends. Advise to management - The changes made from last year to this year made a huge difference in our experience change back. We spoke to other guests who had stayed here in the years past and they felt the same way..

Housekeeper's too loud

We had a Fantastic vacation! All the staff were excellent! The only issue we had was the housekeeping staff was very loud and no one seemed to be able to get them to stop making so much noise! Went on vacation to rest and got none because they were loud from 7-5 :(

Beautiful resort, Beautiful people

Wow, what a beautiful resort. The food was good, the service was great but what impressed me the most were the workers that we met. The workers and People in Jamaica were lovely. The were happy, kind, and hardworking. We befriended many people while we were there. Duran Davis, one of the waiters in The Jasmin restaurant was awesome. He was so kind, attentive, and hardworking. Certainly, he needs to be promoted to a manager. We thoroughly enjoyed spending evenings before and after dinner in the Lobby Bar area listening to the piano player, Gavin Reid, who is so talented and pleasant. He certainly made us feel welcomed and happy. The entertainment at Bahia Principe was outstanding. The pool games, water aerobics and many other activities run by Brandon were awesome. We met many other people that I don't remember there names, but they were lovely. Thank you all for such a wonderful week. We will certainly return in the future.
