Best vacation ever

Our vacation at Esmeralda was the best we could've had. Everything was perfect from the service to the facilities. We had the most wonderful time and really feel we were treated fantastic. It was everything we dreamed of and more! For dining our favorite was Bella Italia; their steak is great. Tamara and Maiko were wonderful too. We ate breakfast everyday at Jazmin buffet and it was always delicious. We had dinner there too and it was also great. The bartenders in Esmeralda at the main lobby and the main pool are fantastic we can't say enough good about them. Our butler Meldy was amazing always accommodating our very need and remembering our son's bday by surprising him with a cake. The service from everyone here is the best we have ever seen. We did the Juanillo VIP excursion and it was so much fun for us and we got treated heat throughout the whole time. We also went to Manatee park which I recommend for kids. The nighttime activities by the pool were great especially the beach party night. My two year old son was dancing the most I've ever seen him dance. He loved it! The beach was great. I do recommend going no later than 5 pm because that's when the seaweed starts coming into the shore. Overall we had the best time and would definitely return to this property another time!!

Bad service

Hotel was massive and very dis organized. Staff was pretty rude and EXTREMLY slow. If you did not speak fluent Spanish you are SOL to get good service. The pool was WAY over crowded. Not enough chairs for the amount of people staying at that part of the resort. Guests were claiming chairs by the pool before sunrise and would be gone by 7am. Food was sub par ad well-which was expected. Would definitley look to go somewhere else next time.

Average option at best!

This is our second trip to Punta Cuna but first time we stayed here. I would say over all it was an average resort. The grounds and the pools were beautiful and very clean, however for this previously being an adult only I thought the rooms themselves would be nicer and cleaner. Overall they were ok but I guess I expected a little more. The maid service started out good but declined as the week went on. They came later in the day towards the end of the week like almost dinner time. They forgot to stock the very limited mini bar the last part of the week and we had to keep asking for wash clothes and hand towels. Second of all we had no butler service! The food was ok but the breakfast and lunch buffets had very little changes from day to day, everything was almost the exact same. Some of the dinners were good especially the Garden Grill and the Japanese restaurant. I also think that wearing long pants to dinner was a joke because most of the restaurants and the buffets didn't have air on and were very hot. Besides that most people wore just dress shirts any ways. For the most part the overall service was good but many were hard to understand compared to some other places we have been. I think the restaurants needed more help as it seemed hard to get some reservations but they were not that full or busy. The beaches were nice but there was tons of seaweed which I understand the resort has no control over that. Overall I would say the resort is average place to stay. The grounds are beautiful but the other negatives bring it down. Also, I think the pricing for a young teenager a too pricey. We have a 14 year old daughter who does not eat any where close to an adult, plus there is no alcohol involved so the pricing should be less for that age group. To pay full adult pricing I think is not fair for 12-18yr olds. It should be a reduced price, not just here but all resorts! We did however enjoy are stay but it just wasn't up to the same par that we had at other resorts.

First time at all inclusive

Overall we had a great time. The resort is gorgeous with a lot to do as long as you don't mind traveling between resorts. Stayed at the Esmeralda, great location close to the beach!! Pools were big and never felt crowded the bar tenders at the main pool seemed much more personable than the guy at the smaller pool. But we liked the smaller pool better. ( even the "smaller" pool is huge! ) really wish the hotel would monitor the "holding" of the chairs at the pool. Unless you got up and saved your chair by 7am you had no place to sit all day. We actually watched a family save 6 chairs and 2 umbrellas at 7am and never used them until 5pm. What the ? Of course I was that person that would move your towel and take your chair if you weren't using it. I paid good money too and I planned on enjoying my vacation. Management should really monitor it. Same thing at the beach but at least there were plenty of chairs down there. The rooms are basic, We didn't have towels in our room had to keep asking for more.the food was subpar.. definelty make reservations as soon as you get there at the restaurants, Takara was the best!! Really bad Italian restaurant. Don't waste your time there. Don't fall for the "free shuttle" to go shopping in town. The village has the same stuff at the same price and even cheaper. What a waste of our time. Didn't like being solicited by the "excursion " guys everyday by the pool not to mention the peddlers on the beach. Once we got past them and found a chair by the pool and beach we had the time of our life. Weather was great the people were nice the resort was beautiful. Food ok. Time to try Mexico and compare.
