Pretty Chill Vacation

So this is the first time I've stayed at an all inclusive resort and overall it was pretty wonderful. It all varies among people of what they're looking for, but I really wanted to get away and relax on the beach. The service was excellent, but slow at times. No one seemed to ever be in a rush, but that was fine with me since I wasn't in much of a rush either (tip them if you want faster service!). It was fairly easy to get around since there were trains to take you around the resort and every one of the workers were very friendly and ready to help at any time which I appreciated. There are excursions offered which are optional and a bit pricey depending on what it is. It can get boring doing the same thing everyday (laying on the beach/by the pool and then eating/going to a show in the evening) so those extra trips give a little something extra if you're willing to pay. The food was pretty good, I only got to make reservations at two of the places, the Brazilian and Asian, which were delicious in my opinion. Though make those reservations at a good time because both of ours were made way late into the evening (almost 10) and it was pretty much empty which didn't make much sense since they could have most likely booked us way earlier. The beach was clean and sometimes a bit crowded (same with the pool), but everything was kept in order and there were no major issues. The room was everything I needed and then some; unfortunately the conditioning was out for a couple days, but it wasn't that unbearable. The only frustrating part of the trip was trying to go home, you're given a set time when they will pick you up which is great, but other people need to be picked up as well and if they're late it sets all of you back which made me very upset considering I could have missed my flight. Overall, I would absolutely do this trip again because it's great to kick up your feet and enjoy an unlimited bar and buffet without any worries.

Disappointing

The reviews were much higher than we experienced. The buffet food was terrible - almost all overcooked (by a lot). The specialty restaurants were also partially not up to expectations. The peruvian/asian option was excellent. The rodizio brazilian option was good. MIKADO and PORTOFINO were very BAD. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. The beach, pools wete great. Service overall was ok, not great. The alcohol was very watered down and not generous. Dont plan to catch a buzz. When i went to the front desk for an inquiry, there were 4 people. 1 picking her nose, 1 trying to look busy and only 1 person in front of me. Took 20 min to get assistance. On the beach, after ordering a drink, we waited 30 minues but it never came. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Adequate

Pros: the resort is beautiful. The grounds and beach are well maintained. Very picturesque. The drinks were good when you knew what to ask for and which bar to go to. Cons: The room felt dirty. When you enter and take a quick glance its beautiful, until you realize there is a dusty, unclean feel to it. And housekeeping is not consistent. Some days they would come early, others not at all. The minibar was rarely restocked without us requesting it to be (2-3 times). The food: it was average. Low quality food. As for the restaurants where you needed reservations, most were not worth the time. The best was the Japanese meal. The meat at the Brazilian restaurant tasted gamey and strange. The other resort guests: there is a silent accepted tradition of reserving your seat at the pool/beach very early in the morning and then returning much later for your seat. People would bring towels down at 7am, put them on the best chairs, and just leave. There are signs that say that reserving seats is not allowed but no one cares. This was perhaps the most annoying thing about my trip. I live a fast paced life at home and want to relax on vacation, not set an alarm at 7am just to get a spot on the beach for the day. The beds: more like concrete slabs. My body was stiff every morning. The resort did not feel luxurious to me. It felt like all of the staff members were instructed to advise guests to order/do the cheapest thing for them. For example, when you ask for the best rum, they recommend the cheap one when there is actually a nicer one available. No one is in a hurry to open in the morning and they are fast to shut the bar down 10 minutes before it is supposed to close. When you want to exchange your towels, it is a likely possibility that they will tell you there are no towels left, even at 10AM. I didn't enjoy having a wet towel on the beach all day. It was a relaxing yet frustrating vacation. If you truly want a luxurious vacation don't stay here. If you have a few hundred more, invest and enjoy it. We wish thats what we had done. If you are low maintenance and just want to get away and relax for cheap, this is a great option.
