Nice property with very friendly service

I give this resort 4 palm trees in all categories; none of the categories quite measured up to being a 5. This was my wife's first visit to an all inclusive, while I have been to a dozen or more. As a former B&B owner, I tend to be pretty critical, so keep that in mind as you read my review. First, because of an airline snafu, we got in quite late. The front desk took care of the paperwork and then suggested we grab a bite to eat before going to the room because the restaurant was closing in 20 minutes. That was typical of the customer service we received. Everyone we interacted with was determined to make our stay special. The only gripe I had was that they weren't prepared to give out information regarding their prep for handling Hurrican Irma until the day before we left, which was the day before the hurricane hit. Although, the messaging and plans they had were very solid and thoughtful... it was clear they had a plan in place and were ready for handling a full house during a tropical storm. The pools are very nice and there was rarely a wait to get a drink from one of the bars. The beach is cleaned/raked daily and we never had a problem getting a palapa to sit under. The beach itself has rather coarse sand and there is a designated swimming area that is pretty small. I'm used to going to Florida beaches where there are no restrictions. The room is comfy and large and the bathroom was very nice with separate tub and shower, and double sinks. The main restaurant is buffet style and decent; just don't expect a gourmet experience. We had no problem finding something good at each meal and even the house wine was pretty good. We were disappointed with the specialty restaurants... we only tried the seafood and "French" restaurants and found them wanting. The food was OK, but there was nothing French about the "French" restaurant and my wife had wiener schnitzel at the seafood restaurant because none of the limited seafood options were palatable. Overall, it was a very good value. We had a great time and would absolutely return.

Amazing Honeymoon Experience!

First time to an all-inclusive resort and it did not disappoint! Excellent service and excellent food. Main buffet in the adult-only resort had different theme every night so if you didn't have a reservation to a specialty restaurant, you didn't have to worry about repetitious meals. Ate so much the first five days that we had to restrict our diet to room service breakfasts after that and it was great. The only slightly underwhelming thing about our entire experience was the beach. Although the sand and view and seats and service on the beach were all amazing, the beach water itself was pretty significantly filled with seaweed. We read about how a river fed into the beach so we knew what to expect, so for the most part we spent time just relaxing in beach chairs and spending time in the water in one of the four pools at the resort. Overall amazing experience and would recommend it to anyone and everyone for their honeymoon trip! Thanks Cheap Caribbean for an easy and straightforward itinerary!

Overall good value, but out of the way

Overall a good value for money and a very nice/luxury place for the price. PROS: Very nice rooms; great service; good drinks; very nice pools. CONS: Below average food; nice beach area, but bad "ocean" - its really on a cove, not much of a beach that one would expect. Also very out of the way - nothing you can walk to or easily get it, is a very sequestered location - which might be appealing to some!

Awesome Resort

This place was really nice! My wife and I went for our honeymoon and was pleased with the experience we had. Pros: the employees were really nice! I was a little concerned because I had seen others state the workers were rude, but this wasn't the case at all. It just takes them a moment to understand because English isn't their first language, but they are all very accommodating and attentive to needs. Also, some of the food (dinners particularly) was excellent! The buffet and three restaurants we were able to visit delivered for dinner and dessert. Next, the adults-only part was very lively yet relaxing at night! With the nightclub being on the other part of the resort, it was easy to go to sleep on our side once our night was done. Lastly, everything was within walking distance! Cons: brown outs! We would be watching TV, and then the power would go out momentarily. One night, the power went out twice during dinner with full restaurants. Next, the beach water was questionable. It was nice to look at, but the water was too murky to feel comfortable swimming in. I just stayed in the pools. Next, not all of the food was great, especially breakfast. Runny scrambled eggs, meats with a lot of bones, and bitter breakfast desserts were just a few issues I had. The reps to join the club got to be annoying after a few days. They were very pushy and wouldn't take no for an answer. Lastly, I was disappointed in the restaurant dress codes. People were wearing whatever they wanted and not being turned away. Long pants could've meant jogging pants from what I saw, and tank tops were acceptable. Overall, I really enjoyed the stay and would return if I had the opportunity.
