Incredible Value

This is my 2nd time traveling to Punta Cana and staying at this resort. In my opinion this is the best resort you will find for the price you will pay. The cleanliness is outstanding. The workers are cleaning 24/7 including buffing the tiles around the pools with water and bleach at night. The rooms at beautiful and just as clean as well. You can't go wrong with 24 hour FREE room service. I recommend staying at the adults only hotels if you can! With a wide variety of TOP SHELF alcohol you will never go thirsty! Some of the downsides with this resort are: not the lack of dining options (because there are many) but the lack of food options to choose from. For example we went to the gourmet Don Pablo restaurant which in the description said French style cuisine. The very next night we went to El Olivo which in the description said Mediterranean. They were exactly the same restaurant just in a different location offering the same food! The swim up bars in the pool stop serving hard alcohol at 5:30pm they will only serve beer until 6:00pm when the bar closes. That is very early for the bars to close especially when you just want to relax in the pool. If you want to continue drinking you have to drink at the bar in the lobby. Overall I enjoyed my stay at ambar green but being that this was my second time going to this resort I will not return but will continue to recommend it to others!

My stay at Bahia Príncipe Ambar Green

Overall, the stay was amazing because of the workers there. All very pleasant and welcoming! The rooms AC did not work too well. It was kind of warm in our room. Our favorite was our bartender Cesar in the lobby of Ambar Green and bartender Ruben at the pool bar. All the buffet food was spectacular excluding the one by the beach. Brazilian dinner was fantastic! Japanese was horrible. The gym defeinitley needs some improvement. Perhaps some updated cardio machines. We would recommend to a friend. Thank you!

Affordable Vaca

Resort was a great deal, but keep in mind you get what you pay for. For a last minute get-a-away vacation you cannot go wrong here. The room was great, although the bed was firm and hard. (but you're never in room so who really cares.) The activities staff was absolutely amazing!! There is always something do and they try their best to get everyone involved. We enjoyed buffets more than ala carte restaurants. Selection and quality of food at buffets was outstanding!! Ala Carte restaurants were a) a pain to get reservations for even on first day, and b) service was average at best. If you find the right golf cart you can get anywhere on the resort in 5 minutes. Worst part of trip was people in lobby that asked us to become "privileged" members by sitting down and trying to sell us time shares. Avoid this at all costs!! Pools and beach were out of this world. We booked two excursions through Amstar and organization, communication, and transportation was top-notch. Housekeeping was average as there was no rhyme or reason to when they cleaned room. Every day they left comforter off bed. (Not a huge deal, just odd.) The one thing I disliked the most was communication was difficult with staff as we spoke very little spanish. That being said though, its their country and we chose to visit it. All in all I would rank this vacation and resort an 8/10. We have been on many vacations to warmer climates and only Hawaii topped our list. Almost forgot, Adults only was amazing. Still partied, still had fun, met lots of people from around world....and had no screaming, splashing, messy, mouthy kids for 6 days!!

Awful! Read before purchasing Luxury Bahia!

Wow, my stay at Luxury Bahia Principe in Dominican Republic was so aggravating and frustrating that at times I found myself choking back the tears. My stay stay started off with a LONG check in process, and the female manager on duty was very unprofessional, not making eye contact with their staff or the guests and not seeming to care about the long lines, the complaints about ground transport being so late that flights might be missed and the complaints about overcharging guests from Europe dealing with transactions in Euro. After waiting TWO HOURS for my room, I was turned back by a barrage of maintenance workers who informed the porter that it was inhabitable due to a leak. Clearly there is a communication problem at this hotel. Back to the front desk in the scorching heat where the same manager responded to her staff (without even an upward glance) when asked if she could assist me since I had been waiting for so long and now my room was inhabitable, "one at a time". When the guy trying to assist me realised that his manager was ignoring him, we trekked across to another lobby and waited another 30 minutes for a room. The room was cool and comfortable. Well stocked mini bar. Things seemed to be looking up. But alas, by the second day I found a small cockroach on its back while I was taking a shower. I covered it with a plastic cup and called front desk to kindly come to remove it. The person hung up on me! I went down to the lobby to request assistance with the roach and was promised by the assistant manager (?) that the matter will be dealt with right away. By 10:00 p.m. I had had enough of seeing the roach so I faced my fears and discarding the roach myself. From that point on, NOT ONE SINGLE CALL from my room was answered for the duration of my stay! Folks, listen to me, this is real. If you are expecting to meet professional and courteous service you will be sorely disappointed. I heard similar stories from other guests, and the issue is not that things went wrong at times; the problem is the poor level of service! The grounds are well-kept. At various times during my stay the grounds men were hard at work; but don't be fooled by the beautiful online facade! I haven't even gotten to the part where I was told not to even bother requesting a hand towel because there weren't any in the hotel. The following day two mysteriously appeared, but it cost us a bath towel. One of us had to use a face towel to dry off with after taking a shower that night. Another trip to the lobby (to request more clean towels, because of course, front desk refused to answer the phone)...the towels showed up an hour later. Then there is my having to ask for the small bottles of water to be restocked. Didn't get any the last two days of my stay. One day there was a crowd of at least 20 people at each towel stand on the compound waiting patiently to exchange their wet, dirty towels from the day before for a clean, dry one (yep, that's the rule posted up on the wall). At first I returned after 30 mins to the guy who told me that the towels would arrive by then, but of course, nothing. And he wasn't in the least bit concerned at the crowd that had gathered. "Come back in 30 mins," he said, but I told him that he had said that before and that I wanted to try another stand. He stopped drumming music on the counter long enough to brush me off in the direction of another pool and I trekked off hopefully. I covered about a mile that day looking for beach towels, but ended up having to use room towels. Other guests seemed content to happily drink the cheap booze and smoke to their lungs' content poolside and at the beach. Speaking of smoking: if you LOVE to smoke, and can't get enough of it, this is the place for you! None of the mess I'm trying to save you from in this review will matter because you can continue killing yourselves slowly practically anywhere and everywhere! Asthmatics like me will find themselves walking around with their faces covered and puffing on their inhalers while trying to relax at the pool and beach, and during evening entertainment. Actually, you will be struggling to breathe no matter the time or place. People even smoked INSIDE the pool. I assumed staff were assigned the task of swimming around the pool collecting plastic cups left on concrete islands and floating in the water at the end of each day, but they could only gather so much. The cigarette butts were few and far between; they just sank to the bottom, out of sight. I stood a better chance at the breezy edge of the ocean, but the beach was small and people left their towels out from the night before to save a place at the water’s edge (same scenario at the pool!). All was not lost though. When I needed a break from the smoke I escaped into the water; better to be choked by seaweed than by smoke! (Don’t say you weren’t warned about the seaweed. The “seaweed raker guys” couldn’t do their job fast enough.) Ok folks, dining. The buffets were very well stocked. The fish was particularly good, and I thanked God that the flies didn't seem to like the fish as much as I did. So while they feasted on the rest of the stuff, I ate fish for 6 days...and soup, whenever it was available. I did brave the flies by trying the veggies (yes, they liked the veggies too!) but the plastic taste was appealing to me so I let them have it.No matter what you do, don't have the crepes...unless of course you like the taste of crumbling paper with an ever so slight hint of rosewater. So much for paying for an all inclusive. If you LOVE to eat and have a cast-iron stomach, knock yourselves out. Did I mention that my room card keys stopped working? Back to the lobby. Given replacements. Back to the room. Still not working. Back to the lobby. The problem: it takes about 7 minutes to be activated. Wish they had told me this from the start, but again, I was not surprised. I did mention it to some other guests I ran into who were frantically shoving their cards into the slot. Felt good to see the relief on their faces. They were probably dreading having to struggle with lobby staff once again. I was counting down the days to leave that place. If I were well off I would have checked into another hotel on day one. From the beginning it was one struggle after the next. One aggravation after the next. One frustration after the next. I wasted my money and I feel like my vacation was ruined. I don't know about you, but if you work hard to save for a well-deserved escape, look for somewhere else to stay.
