Never Again

We have book through this site before but never again. The hotel that boast 's stars on this site was not. We had to deal with no reservations sent to the hotel so 4 hour check in waiting in hot lobby and no one from the hotel willing to help. Time share presentation. Which a travel agency should not advertise on the site a hotEl that tell you. Cheap Caribbean sells the awful rooms if you a want the best get it through time shares. No transfers. Paid $100 to get there and back. We just paid for tickets and hotel all inclusive- travel voucher should be included like Apple and Junjet.our vacation was the worst and to top it off because we book with cheap Caribbean we had to stay in a room right next door to construction as they were building another hotel right off our balcony.

Overrated not 5 star resort

We won't ever stay in this resort again. The resort is on the Atlantic Ocean, not the Caribbean. Therefore, the water is cold and is not nearly as nice as you would expect. The beach is overcrowded with Kids and families because all of the resorts share the same beach. There is a Ton of seaweed too. We were hoping for a beautiful beach similar to other Caribbean vacations... this was not the case here. The resort is not 5 starts. More like 3. The food is gross and lacking flavor. Every restaurant and every meal tastes the same, regardless of cuisine. The "fancy" restaurants... the worst service and the most bland meals. The service is not good. We waited for 90 minutes for someone to refill our mini fridge (something they are supposed to do daily). The butler service is a joke... now granted, we don't need a butler, but they try to tell you he/she will be with you all week helping you and taking care of your needs. So we tipped him a lot on day one... never saw him again. They try to rope you into a bog scheme where they say you have a free gift waiting for you at the lobby. We go down and they offer us a $50 gift card to the spa... BUT you have to attend a 90 minute long tour of the complex and see the time shares that they then try to sell you... we caught on and opted out. The room- its big. But, no beach view at all. The Ned was physically painful to sleep in. The hallways are really dark and it's a bit strange for a Caribbean resort. (Minor, but it bothered me). The room had cracks all over the place, opened crevices in the walls. The glass shower door sounded and looked like it was about to fall off and shatter. The room is very very outdated. The whole complex needs remodeling to be a 5 star. They tried to put us in a room that had a MASSIVE water leak on the ceiling and dozens of mosquitoes near it flying in from the vent. I immediately requested another room. The second one wasn't much better, but we took it. The drinks are weak and filled with sugar. You need to say extra rum or liquor for you to even get an alcoholic drink. Again, we were sick of the food by day 3. The one thing that was great were the excursions. We did the ATV tour to playa blanco, whiz which was a great trip. And we did monkey land another day. The monkey land day was strange. The monkeys were adorable and it was fun. But, they picked us up at our hotel- drove us to a random gas station in the middle of God knows where and we had to wait for 35 minutes for another bus to come. It was sketchy and strange. I know this resort has good deals, but if you're looking for a high end resort in Punta Cana this is not it.

Same problems and complaints as everybody else

Several hour wait on check in, didn't have our reservation, couldn't get wristband to eat while waiting wound up in green not blue, so huge walk to beach. Don't expect /golf cart ride whenever you need to, construction noise not terrible, but always present. Pretty disorganized, staff does not speak enough English to resolve issues, you definitely do need to speak some spanish to troubleshoot, make a reservation, get directions, find a restaurant, even ordering food and drinks. Food was mostly pretty good, some bad, definitely not gourmet. Service at all restaurants slow and spotty. Had to ask for something repeatedly at every meal; somebody didn't have a plate or napkin or glass or fork or they never came by with coffee or wine at all, etc. etc. Beach, waves and weather top notch, entertainment barely able to be called that. Worst part of experience; expect to tip constantly and be pestered by sketchy vendors nonstop. Every trip or excursion basically an organized fleecing opportunity for those putting it on

Beautiful beaches!

This place had a beautiful beach and pool. We loved spending time in both. The swim up bar was nice to have. There were also bars on the beach which were convenient and there were also servers who would come around to your lounge chairs and take your drink orders. We also really enjoyed the Hobie catamarans that were available and included with our stay. The things we didn't like had mostly to do with service or the lack of helpful service. We like to tip the bartenders, house keepers etc but found it very hard to get change, for US dollars or Dominican Pesos. I watched the lady at the lobby desk open up bundles of US $1 but she told me she didn't have change for a $10. We also experienced a few odd things when it came to drinks. They would have a mimosa and bloody Mary bar set out at breakfast time when you first walked into the buffet but would say you couldn't have it at times or if they actually did give you one, you couldn't go back for refills. Also, we felt the drinks were not strong at all so we started asking for an extra shot of the liquor on the side that we would add to the drink or we would just order something on the rocks but after about 3 times of doing that, they would tell us they were out of whatever it was that I was ordering. It just felt like we were being limited and I didn't care for that. Our building was close to the beach and pool, which was awesome, (Villas 68 and 69 are the closest) but our room key card also stopped working a few times and we weren't able to get into our room. This is a HUGE resort so it was kind of annoying to have to walk all the way up to the lobby to get a new key. The only other con was there was construction going on next door that started at 7 am and went on til 10 or 11pm. I know that isn't this resorts fault but we paid a lot of money and the only view from our room balcony was a dusty construction site, so we tried to stay out of there as much as possible.

What's to Love

All-inclusive, swoon-worthy resort that caters to only beach-loving adults.

You're steps away from the beach - the rooms at Ambar Blue are closer to the sands.

Tons of activities - three tennis courts, ping pong, foosball, soccer. Game on.

Reveling in all the facilities & restaurants (except buffets) at the Bahia resort complex.

What We'd Change

Sometimes getting from Ambar to enjoy the rest of the resort is a bit of a trek. Luckily, you can hitch a ride on the train that shuttles guests around.

Why You Should Go

You're just a short 30 minutes from Punta Cana International Airport.

You can snorkel in the turquoise ocean or explore them on a kayak or boogie board. One hour a is day free.

Don't miss the ahh-mazing spa. Remember - the kids aren't with you. It's your time.

Pueblo Principe is a little village at the resort with shops, a courtyard for shows, & more.
