Legends Resort Was Awesome

DO: 1. Try as many food from different restaurants as you can. 2. Go out of the "touristy areas" to the "other side" where "real" Jamaicans live. 3. Remember to smile and greet folks. DON'T: 1. Forget to bring insect repellants, mosquitoes in particular. 2. Be rude to locals. 3. Be stuck in your hotel room and swimming pool

Average Accommodations with IDEAL Location

The resort itself is standard accommodations. There is nothing upscale but it is clean and all usable. When we booked through CheapCarribean we found out upon arrival that the reservation is just a request and you are not guaranteed what you booked. We stated we wanted a room with two double beds as requested. To receive that request we had to wait an hour for that room, waiting in the lobby as others checked in to their rooms. We traveled in May which is their rainy season and high mosquito season so bring insect appellant. Once we had the room we booked, it was clean and exactly as pictured. The air conditioning is great, we were easily cooled every time we went back to the room, and the large screen television has an excellent movie channel/cable package. The resort also has a great amenities set up, with the pool, restaurant and beach access all in a few feet of each other. The beach access which is right behind the restaurant was gorgeous. Easy to eat breakfast and literally walk right out on to the beach and lay out for a few. The security for the resort beach area is fantastic. The security staff was good about telling solicitors to leave if they got too pushy, otherwise, you are able to walk up to any of them and purchase their goods at your preference. Most are selling food (fruit or ready to eat seafood plates), handmade jewelry, hair braiding, massages, or boat excursions. Their beach area has plenty of chairs and covered (umbrellas or canopy's) areas. Now to the best part of this resort, it's LOCATION. It is in a great spot, almost center of the 7-mile Beach strip. We easily walked to shopping (Times Square), dining (local eateries), and night-life (Bourbon Beach, The Jungle). It is common for tourists to walk to surrounding resorts and try their in-house restaurants or even the few stand-alone restaurant options as well. The food is great, and you can get authentic coconut water IN THE COCONUT at a few places. Almost all locations will accept the U.S. Dollar in addition to the Jamaican Dollar and accommodate that by listing prices in both currencies. The resort itself has an excellent restaurant menu and we ate all our lunch meals at Legends, as well as couple of dinners. As stated up above, easy to get up out of the beach chairs, walk a couple of feet, eat lunch, and head back to the chair by the water and sand.

Bad taste in the mouth

First when we got here we were a half hour earlier than check in time we were told to go to the bar and wait. So we went to the restaurant and has some lunch came back an HOUR later and we were told it would still be another half hour before our room was ready. Now they're cutting into our time we've been traveling all day all we want to do is set our stuff down and shower. There was no apology for the room not being ready. When I booked this vacation I specifically said our room needs to have TWO beds as to the other person I'm traveling with could not sleep in a bed with another person due to religious reasons. We were given a room that had a king size bed and we were told there were no other rooms available we couldn't switch. So once again there was no apology or any other solution. THEN once it was night time and we were trying to go to bed the bed was covered in bed bugs!! I understand that we are in another country and something might be out of our control but sanitation shouldn't be one of them if we're at a resort. I find this absolutely repulsive. I'm even more offended when they sent someone up they asked to speak to the housekeeper and had the nerve to ask her if we were lying! Suddenly they had another room available for us. Forget the fact that were covered in bug bites because we were sitting in the bed before hand trying to figure out what we were doing the following day. If you're laying on the beach good luck trying to relax the beach hustler constantly bother you wanting you to buy weed, fruit, and have your hair braided. The food they serve isn't really spectacular if you're looking for authentic Jamaican food.

Hotel Description

Legends Beach Resort: Enjoy Reggae Vibes and Jamaican Flair

Discover beautiful Jamaica at Legends Beach Resort in Negril. Vibrantly colored buildings set among lush island vegetation create the perfect place to get into the island frame of mind.

This intimate hotel boasts two pools, one oceanside and one by the gardens. After poolside sunbathing, make your way to the beach for a leisurely stroll along the soft ivory sand. Thatched shades and coconut palm trees line this stretch of Negril's fabulous Seven Mile Beach. The warm water is always calm, so wade out and wriggle your toes in the soft sand of the ocean floor. Water sports are available courtesy of nearby vendors. For a memorable adventure, take the free shuttle to Samsara Cliff Resort and try cliff diving! There, you can also make arrangements for diving lessons and PADI certification.

When you're ready to chow down, Legends Restaurant is the place to go for homemade dishes created with fresh, local ingredients. Theme nights, like Pasta Fiesta Tuesday, keep dinnertime funky and fun. Things really heat up with Jamaican Me Crazy Fridays, when guests can cut loose with drinks and reggae music while enjoying live entertainers like thrilling fire displays. For an even greater selection of grub, check out Grill Night Thursday at Samsara Restaurant. To top it off, both restaurants have their own bars and keep the drinks flowing until 11pm. And, because Legends Beach Resort is located in the entertainment district, you can keep the party going all night long at nearby clubs and bars.

In addition to great food and an awesome location, the resort has its own spa. Indulge in a sea salt and apricot body scrub, or try a Japanese hot stone massage. You can even get your hair braided in cool, exotic styles. After a refreshing day at the spa, relax and watch the sunset from the private veranda of your Beachside Room.
