Make your surf fantasies come true; grab your stick and check out the Lazy Parrot in Rincon! At the western tip of Puerto Rico, this hillside "mini-resort" is close to some of the world's best surfing and fantastic scuba diving. The best part for Americans is the passport-free travel. With only 21 rooms, the inn is a cozy and charming launching pad within a short drive of eight beaches. Domes Beach and Maria's Beach, both known for winter surfing, are little more than one mile from the resort, and both are located along the gorgeous Sunset Coast, which is fabulous for surfing.

Will return to this charming place
We like the Lazy Parrot a lot. A small resort but that made it all the more charming to us. Before staying we enjoyed their restaurant while in Rincon on previous visits. Loved the view from the open air dining room. It looks out over the lush hillside and on out to the ocean. Our room was on the second level overlooking the pool. It was clean and nicely decorated. It had beautifully tiled floors and a lovely small balcony that easily fit 4 chairs. The pool was clean and had an outdoor bar which we made good use of. The Lazy Parrot Staff went out of their way to be helpful, even taking us into town to find a product made only in Aguada that I hadn't had in years. (Thank you Elba).I would definitely stay at the Lazy Parrot again!

With only 21 rooms, the inn is a cozy and charming launching pad within a short drive of eight beaches. Domes Beach and Maria's Beach, both known for winter surfing, are little more than one mile from the resort, and both are located along the gorgeous Sunset Coast, which is fabulous for surfing.
Great fish dishes like pan-seared mahi mahi and coriander-crusted tuna are among the groovy offerings at the Lazy Parrot Restaurant. Everything seems to taste better in the open-air pavilion overlooking the pool and tropical gardens. If you're not particularly enthusiastic about fish, no problem. Grilled skirt steak served with rice and beans is sure to please the meat-eaters in your crowd. When you prefer a more down-to-earth meal, simply opt for a Lazy Burger at the more casual Rum Shack Poolside.
If hunger pangs in the middle of the night prove just too gnarly, never fear. Every room is ready to handle your midnight snack attacks thanks to a mini fridge and a microwave. And don't worry about brushing up on your Spanish for midnight reruns, either--every room has satellite TV!
Not a pro surfer just yet? No worries! Rincon's mondo surfing schools can have you shredding the waves in no time. Of course, you may want to take a crack at bill fishing or scuba diving, which are also huge area attractions. Horseback riding on the beach is a real treat, especially on one of the "fine-gaited" Paso Fino breed--the pride of Puerto Rican equestrians. If there's still room on your to-do list, check out nearby Rincon Pottery, where wet clay becomes your artistic playground as you learn techniques for hand-built and wheel-thrown pottery.
