Talcum-like sand caresses your feet while you pause on the beach, reveling in the last rays of the sun as it transforms several tiny islands into silhouettes. Located on a gorgeous Pacific beach, with the majestic Sierra Madre Mountains as a backdrop, the all inclusive Krystal Ixtapa Hotel is a picture-perfect destination for your vacation. The hotel is right in the heart of the Ixtapa resort area, and about 160 miles northwest of Acapulco.

As a pre-planned modern resort community, Ixtapa offers you a modern infrastructure with high-rise hotels and reliable transportation, as well as water sports, golf and shopping. Nearby Zihuatanejo retains its quiet charm as a Mexican beach village, providing visitors a glimpse into a slower-paced lifestyle.

The kid in you will love the waterslide at the hotel's 130-ft free-form swimming pool. This 12-ft slide is built into a man-made rock formation with a waterfall spilling into the pool. After a few wild rides, leave the slide to your kids and paddle over to the swim-up bar for a Bahama mama or a rum punch. If you have younger children, don't worry, the figure-eight pool has areas for them.

Be sure to reserve one night for Bogart's, the premier restaurant at the Krystal hotel in Ixtapa. The high-backed wicker chairs and Moroccan arches conjure up images from a beloved film; pools and fountains, as well as elaborate tile floors, complete the illusion. Start with the French onion soup and maybe the pianist will play "As Time Goes By." After dinner, step back to the present with a trip to the hip Christine Club.

Two very different championship golf courses are each within a half-mile of the Krystal Ixtapa. Campo de Golf Ixtapa, designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., offers varying terrain, crocodile-infested lagoons, jungle and beaches. Golf Digest ranks Marina Ixtapa Golf Club, designed by Robert von Hagge, as one of Mexico's best. Don't be surprised by pleasure craft navigating the saltwater inlets surrounding 13 of the holes.

Pools

A 130-ft-long (40-m) free-form pool features an adults-only section with swim-up bar at one end and a rock waterfall and 12-ft (3.5-m) water slide at the other end. A 35-ft (10.5-m) figure-eight pool contains children's and toddlers' sections.

Beach

The resort's 410-ft (125-m) beach offers thatched-roof palapas for shade and includes a volleyball net.

Golf

Krystal Ixtapa is midway between two 18-hole championship golf courses, Marina Ixtapa and Campo de Golf Ixtapa (formerly the Palma Real), each of which is approximately 547 yds away.
