best resort for the money

This is the second time we've been to Iberostar Tucan/Quentzal and will be going back next year. We've been to 5 other resorts in the cancun area and just love this place. It's about half the price of most resorts but has everything the others offer plus a very cool jungle in between the 2 rows of buildings with trails and animal life thats so fun to explore and discover. Of course the beach is amazing with the beautiful torquoise color extending out at least 100 yards and was like that every day. we went Sept30-Oct7 during the rainy season and it rained maybe 2 hrs the whole week. We sailed on their sailboats (free) twice and really loved seeing the shore from a ways out. The water is so clear we followed a stingray around for a while in about 20' deep water. The waves were small because Cozumel acts like a barrier. The one thing thing I liked the most about this resort was the friendliness of the other guests and their diversity. I have never met so many people from all over the world and felt so comfortable talking and laughing with everyone. It's so easy to start up a conversation with people who are'nt all about the money. It's true this place has some minor issues but I accept that and used that money I saved to really enjoy myself. Some minor issues were: 1 The seafood was average 2 The shows were average 3 Not much nightlife partying But 1 Other food was great 2 Playa is 2 miles away and has very good seafood and a very fun and safe nightlife. We went off on our own walking to some ruins a mile away, went to town a couple times, and even used the local transportation ( bus, ferry, collectivo and taxis and never felt unsafe. I recommend going on an excursion using the local transportation because its cheaper and the tours stop at multiple hotels to pick up people and can add hours to your tour. The resort also has activities all day long from archery to zumba so you never need to leave and plenty of lounge chairs at the beach and pool and also great drinks.Love it highly recommend it

Loved it.

Perfect low key getaway. I don't have anything negative to say. Staff was great, food was great, beach was amazing. The resort is kind of at the end of a strip of resorts so if you walk down the beach it's very secluded. Also, there's some great snorkeling down that way and the resort provides free snorkel gear. The room was spacious and I want their bathroom. Overall great vacation, will definitely go back.

Paradise!

This was my first all-inclusive vacation and it was far more than any expectation! Iberostar Tucan and Quetzel (which is next door) are great! I went with my boyfriend in early September and it was a perfect trip for us! Our room was always cleaned spotless, especially by Pedro although we didn't spend much time in our room! The pool is massive and very clean, but we didn't spend much time there either. The beach and ocean was the selling point! The water was the most crystal clear water I have ever experienced, We walked out to where we couldn't touch, but you could still see your feet! They offer many activities to keep you busy like zumba, bull riding, horse shoe's, tug-o-war, plus, karaoke :) We just enjoyed relaxing, as that is what vacation is for. Every night they had a show in the theater and we attended most of them during our week stay, highly recommended and entertaining! Our bartenders were great! Raul, and Marco kept our drinks coming without even asking! They were very kind! I had a great stay and I obviously didn't want to leave. Thanks, Iberostar Tucan!

Hotel Description

Iberostar Tucan Hotel: It's a Jungle Out There

Imagine opening your front door and, instead of city sights and sounds, there are toucans and monkeys hopping and chattering amongst the trees. Sounds pretty wild right? Well, that's how close the wildlife is at Iberostar Tucan Hotel in Playa del Carmen.

The 28-acres of lush jungle surrounding the resort is literally just outside the front door, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to see monkeys, coatis, flamingos, iguanas, agoutis and peacocks! The ecosystem is part of the appeal of this Mayan Riviera family getaway. Kids get a kick out of exploring the stone walkways winding through the forest, checking out tropical fish in the lagoons and posing with Mayan-inspired statues.

If you're needing a break from exploring, relax under a palapa while the sounds of the jungle mingle with the tumble of the surf on the resort's stunning sandy beach. The enormous, lake-style pool seems like a rainforest river, conveniently equipped with a swim-up bar that provides easy access to a number of refreshing cocktails. The wildlife is drawn by the smell of food, as you undoubtedly will be, at the resort's nine restaurants in raised platforms overlooking the lagoons. From the unagi at El Bonsai to ravioli at La Gondola, you'll have plenty of options. When night falls and jungle sounds fill the air, check out La Plaza Theatre Bar for culture-rich variety shows, or shake and shimmy at La Mascara Disco.

Whether you like to coast or let it rip full-throttle, Iberostar Tucan Hotel lets guests vacation at their own speed thanks to the all-inclusive perks: kids can get crafty with balloon animals and crayons at Lucy's Club, while adults take catamarans and kayaks out on the water. Rack up the balls for a game of billiards or practice your jump shot. When you've given those muscles a workout, stop by the on-site spa for the cucumber-mint body treatment; it works miracles on tired legs.

After a day of sun and fun, there's nothing like flopping down on a comfy bed for a great night's sleep, and the standard guestrooms make it possible. Whether you're traveling with friends, someone special, or the entire family, the room is big enough for everyone to catch their Zzz's.
