Best Hotel in Playa Del Carmen

We did extensive review on all of the resorts from Cancun to Riviera Maya and came to the conclusion that the Iberostar Tucan/ Quetzal was the best resort. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left this place was everything we could've imagined. The service was Amazing! Simply put our flight got changed which means we arrived early like 5am and the hotel gave us a room right away and told us to go rest. We were always taken care of, super nice accommodations, cleanest beaches, service service service. A plate never sat on the table for longer than 30 seconds and someone was there to take it away. Beautiful cultural shows, close to Xcaret and other adventures. Immaculate grounds, fantastic themed areas, and vibrant casitas (rooms). The staff was fun, always motivating guests to get involved with activities, or they would allow you to just sit back and relax quietly. Water sports including the sail boats were fun to take out daily for free and wifi is all free as well. Don't waste your time looking for something else. This place is it. Enjoy and make some memories. Family friendly but not annoyingly such. 90% adults but if you have kids there's a kids club and fun stuff for them too!

Great Vacation

Iberostar Tucan was a great resort. The hotel was very clean and the people that worked there were very nice and helpful. I emailed the hotel before our arrival with questions and they were very prompt with answers. I also reserved a specialty restaurant through email. The rooms were very quiet, we did not hear other people staying close to our room. My son thought the beds were hard and he got a topper for his mattress. You can hear the peacocks early in the morning, they were on my son's balcony, I think laying eggs as we saw eggs in the decks below ours. Early in the morning the howler monkeys were on top of the resort. We saw about 10 of them, you can also see them later in the jungle at the top of the trees. The bartenders were awesome and we tipped them often with $1 bills. They will use Bacardi and Absolute if you ask them. The drinks were very good and strong, not watered down. The food was good, some could be better, but no one left hungry. We love the area of Playa del Carmen. The beach is beautiful and the town is very safe. There is a nice shopping area a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The town of Playa del Carmen is about a 30 minute walk or a $7 cab ride.

Just returned from a girls trip

Just returned from a wonderful, relaxing beach trip with the girls. All in all, it was a fabulous time! Check in was extremely slow. We were told we were at the Tucan and checked in there; but they put us in the Quetzel. The welcome drink while waiting and extremely tired and hot was "juice"?! Very odd. The beach is perfect and beautiful with plenty of shade! The buffets were actually very tasty and changed every night. The Mexican restaurant was not at all what I was expecting; little disappointed. The drinks were fabulous and the adult pool bar was an absolute blast! The rooms were very comfortable and clean. Where our room was situated, we had an alarm clock of monkeys every morning at 6:30 am. I felt very safe at the resort and outside the resort area up to 5th Ave. I would come back to this area again for sure!!

Relaxation

The resort was beautiful with attention to cleanliness on the grounds at all times. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There was entertainment at the pool every afternoon and a Broadway type of music entertainment in the main theater every evening. The wildlife, including roaming howler monkeys was amazing. My wife and I were there for our honeymoon, so we could relax on the beach or in the pool at our leisure with no pressure to do anything we didn't want to participate in. While there were numerous dining options, nothing really special stood out including the restaurants that required a reservation. If you plan on an excursion you are better off planning it on your own after you arrive. Example the Resort wanted $150. Per person to visit Cozumel. Instead we paid $10. for a taxi to the peer, $8. round -trip for the ferry and $60. For car rental to explore Cozumel on our own at our own pace. Then $10. Fora taxi to the resort. So, $88. For both of us, excluding meals. We paid over $300. In advance for an Xcaret excursion, which is ten minutes from the resort. I'm positive we overpaid.
