Spring break stay week

Stayed 1 week at Iberostar resort. We liked the beach and pools. My kid got sick with high fever 2nd day of our visit and stayed in the room for remainder of our stay, which pretty much ruined most of vacation, having to spend most of time in the room. Hotel has doctor/nurse however visits can be quite expensive. Food was ranged from good to okay, mostly fairly repetitive choices. Hotel grounds are beautiful and well manicured. Brought game console but forgot HDMI cable. Hotel did not have a single HDMI cable to provide to us during entire week. Make sure to bring your own darn HDMI cable. TV in the room is fairly small (but functional) LCD. Lots of channel in Spanish or some in English. Hotel had kids and adults shows on most days, missed those due to kid sickness. Good transfer in/out of hotel and room service was very good. Overall one of better hotels we've been in Punta Cana.

Vacation time

This resort is the best for the dollar spent, the staff is waiting to serve you, the beach and pool areas are to die for, maybe a little help is needed in the food area, all and all a great place to stay

Desparate in DR

I have been to Punta Cana on 6 occasions and have stayed at the Iberostar Punta Cana. I continue to go back for the overall value, service, beaches, pools, entertainment and comforts. I can't say the same for this visit. On my arrival we could not check in due to our early flight which is understandable but being a repeat customer I have always been upgraded to a suite or other type of room but no offer was made to me and my fiancée. I even decided to ask the check in desk. But still no was the answer. Also we were not invited to the "repeat customer party" at the resort. We only found out about this from other people we had met at the pool that were also repeat customers. The bathroom facilities in the entire hotel were sub standard. The ladies room in the lobby was out of order and not functioning for my entire stay. The ladies bathroom behind the lobby bar where several events were held was not maintained. Either stuffed toilets, no toilet paper or doors locked with no one inside stalls. One day I went there 3 times and they had some guy buffing the floor for two hours. When I was at the pool, they had two bathrooms there but the same thing: not working, not flushing, no toilet paper, handles broken, no soap or paper towels. I complained on 3 occasions and just gave up. I came to the DR to plan my wedding at the Iberostar and now I have to rethink my plans. I can not have guests fly and spend thousands of dollars to have the facilities out of order on a continuous basis. Unfortunately, this will be my last visit to the Iberostar and I have been a true fan for a long time. My family has taken family vacations to the Iberostar, honeymoons, etc... for the past ten years. I think we will need to find another resort.

The great the ok and the ugly

The great: The staff was awesome, so friendly and helpful, they did everything you would want and expect from an all inclusive resort, I even accidentally forgot my iPhone on one of the dinner tables and it was turned in to the front desk, I couldn't believe it. They all went out of the way for us. The beach was amazing, which is where we spent most of our time. The ok: We stayed in a jr. romantic suite on the lobby side of the resort. It was clean but definitely in need of a remodel, we only were in the room to sleep, shower and adult things, so we're fine with it. The view from the room wasn't good. The ugly: The food at the specialty restaurant was not good at all, we picked the Chinese, seafood which were awful and the Gourmet which was ok. We ate mostly in the buffet because you only can choose them 3 times. It was ok and you could find something to eat to satisfy your hungry. The service there again was awesome. If you are a drinker and want good liquor this is not the resort for you,we had a hard time finding good vodka. The lobby bar had the best liquor and the service at that bar was awesome. We had a great time and great service with wonderful beaches but would probably not stay there again without some improvements on the above

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive escape on sands known 'round the world - the epic Bavaro Beach.

Saying buh bye to stress with a Shiatsu massage, Swedish sauna & facials at the spa.

Stoking your metabolism with aerobics, then destressing with yoga.

Releasing your beach munchkins to Lucy's Club while you enjoy a cocktail or five.

What We'd Change

Like most all inclusive resorts, there's a strict reservation policy for the A la carte restaurants. Still, the steaks at La Cana are worth the trouble!

Why You Should Go

It's 45 minutes from the airport. Don't get antsy, beach lovers. We see welcome drinks in your future.

There's a mangrove jungle walk with a mini-zoo for kids. Big kids might dig it, too.

You can tee off at the Iberostar Bavaro Golf & Club, an 18-hole golf course designed by P.B. Dye.

There's wave after wave of water sports: kayaking, windsurfing, diving, you name it.
