Pretty Resort with A+++ Service

Iberostar Playa Mita is a pretty and clean resort and the service was phenomenal. Due to its further location, transportation from PVR to the resort took some thorough research to find a decent deal. The drive itself was not very long, maybe 30-40 minutes or so. We were a party of 8 so we hired a private shuttle ahead of time and paid $75/couple for RT. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the friendly and smiling front desk and bell boys and a refreshing glass of cucumber agua fresca. Checking in was a breeze and a quick summary of what the resort has to offer was given. We made the mistake of booking the resort during rainy season though, so the humidity was very hard to adapt to. Since most of the grounds of the resort are outdoors, we got hit pretty hard with the humidity every day we were there. I know the weather is out of their control, so next time we plan a trip, we'll definitely be more conscious of the season. Also, a lot of the activities they provide (which were a great way to spend our time in the day) are outdoors, so we were sweating a lot during these activities. I am not a food snob but I did expect to have more access to authentic Mexican food since we ARE in Mexico. The food selection was vast but not very tasty. They have specialty restaurants that you can make reservations for with your concierge but personally, I was not a fan of any that we tried. Of all the specialty restaurants we tried, the steakhouse was the best but it is an outdoor restaurant, so once again, we were sweating in humidity while eating while simultaneously getting bit by mosquitoes. The beach is nice and easily accessible from the resort and the pools were a good size. The swim-up bar was a nice addition as well. The water at both the beach and the pools were never cool due to the warm weather, so it wasn't exactly refreshing to combat the heat and humidity. Nevertheless, it was still enjoyable. Once again, the service here was top notch, there was never an employee that didn't have a smile on their face. The longer we stayed, the more familiar we got with the staff and it was a privilege to be serviced by their hard work. It did not go unnoticed. Our experience at iberostar was relaxing but it does seem geared towards more family and perhaps the elderly. Our group consisted of mid 20s - early 30s so the atmosphere wasn't as "youthful." I would definitely recommend this resort for families and not during the rainy season.

Great value, even better staff!

The resort itself was gorgeous...it's relatively new (3 or 4 years) and feels as such. The staff is really the stand out part of my review. ALL of them were exceedingly friendly, personable, and accommodating of any request. The pool was excellent, as was the beach. The food was average, and I put that rating because it was on par with most other all inclusives that we visited. For the price, it couldn't be beat!

Horrible Food

I honestly don't know how this place is rated so high for food. If you want good food, this is just not the place to be. There are four restaurants -- each worse than the next. The Buffet is really the only place you can get a decent meal but that can also be hit or miss. The resort itself is nice -- which is why the food situation is so disappointing. I gave beach and pools only three stars because while the beach is enjoyable, the resort allows local vendors to try and sell there. You can barely close your eyes and relax without having someone come up to you and ask if you want to buy something. As for rooms, they are great, BUT we were asked when would be best to clean the room (which I thought was awesome) but the service would never come during that time frame. Instead, hours later when you're relaxing or trying to get ready. The bartenders and servers were all wonderful to us. They were very engaging and tried their best to make everyone happy. This whole area is still in development (including the resort which was in construction the whole week we were there) and is 45 minutes from the airport. Hopefully once things develop more this resort will improve.

Amazing Resort

My girlfriend (now my fiancé) and I took a trip here in August 2016. From first arriving at the resort until we left, we were treated very well, and all employees were polite and helped us with our every need. The resort is immaculate; from the front entrance to the landscaping to the rooms and pool, everything was clean throughout the day. Another thing that we enjoyed was that it was never crowded, and we found out that is how the resort was designed. In fact, in speaking with one of the representatives, they were actually over capacity, which we could not believe. The pool area is kept very nice. We never had an issue getting lounge chairs, and the huge pool was never crowded. We were there in late August, so there were not many children around (which we assumed was due to kids going back to school) which was nice and relaxing. (Note: If you have children, there is another pool next to the main pool that has a jungle gym that I thought was cool.) The swim up bar was also a plus! Another thing to check out during the day is there are two station where they cook food such as tacos and have a special cocktail every day. The food at these stations is amazing! The food at the restaurants is pretty good. We did the breakfast buffet each morning, which offers a wide array of breakfast foods. We also tried each of the other open restaurants during our trip (the steakhouse was closed for renovations). The Cuate Pancho Restaurant and Resturant Pacific Express were ok. The best restaurant was Tsuba, which is a Benihana-style restaurant where they cook the food in front of you. In my opinion, I would suggest going to Tsuba and El Nopal (buffet), but definitely get the food at the stations by the pool. The food by the pool was by far the best we had at the resort. We did one excursion, which took us along the bay of Puerto Vallarta and then snorkeling, followed by a lunch and drinks at a private beach. It was really awesome, and you can find out all of the tours at the tour desk behind the reception desk. I also proposed to my girlfriend overlooking the sunset on the deck overlooking the ocean, which was amazing. Overall, it was a great experience, and would recommend to anyone that is looking for a very affordable, beautiful resort to check this one out!
