Arrive at this breathtaking resort filled with sparkling Mexican sunshine and start your all inclusive vacation with a cocktail from the lobby bar, which is an exact replica of the Chichen Itza Pyramid. Even the furniture is art at this five-star resort, each piece carved from wood, brass, bronze or limestone. This Place is the best
Best Time Ever. This was our second trip here, when you find something good you should stick with it as we did. We are afraid to go any where else. The service, staff, food, events were excellent. The grounds perfect, the beach was beautiful. Can't wait to go back next January

Blessing Ceremony on Beach
Thought it was going to rain because forcast said 30% to 60% every day.
But only rained for 10 minutes every day and then partly cloudy and sunny. I guess that is very common in that area. They told me only when it says 100% rain is when you shold worry. Wedding was every thing I dreamed of. I felt very pampered from the wedding planner telling us exactly what to do and what to expect to the minister letting us pick what type of wedding ceremony to the DJ's playing our CDs when we wanted them to and also separate people serving the champagne after the wedding. Yes it is windy on beach but who cares I'm from Minnesota and it was better than snow. My son was bummed that he could not sail becuase of red flags every day. I was very happy that they did not let him sail with the waves as big as they were. Some of our party ordered room service which I guess was not very good. There was stuff to do every second of the day and night. Some of our group went to the Disco each night and some of us woke up at 6 am and walked the beach. Because of our flight we had to leave before the breakfast buffet was served but you can still order room service for breakfast. It was the third time we stayed at these resorts and we will be back again. I called Cheap Carribean every week to see where the prices were at so we could add another person. Their were wonderful every time.
If you will be traveling to the Iberostar Paraiso Maya or its sister hotel the Lindo, be sure to find out which bar Rudolpho is working at. Amazing service, amazing drinks, and amazing lively entertainment! My group sought him out every evening, and it was worth it.

Best vacation ever
My wife and I stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya September 27th thru October 4th, 2011 for our tenth anniversary. It was great. To start off the weather was amazing and eventhough the weather said a 60% chance of rain everyday it only rained once. The resort itself was amazing. Very clean and beautiful landscaping. Each Hallway has it's own concierge person to help with anything you may need and to make reservations to the specialty restaurants. Our room was just Okay. Kind of dark and could have used some updating but we spent very little time in the room so it was no big deal. The buffet restaurants were great and had a huge selection. I consider myself the pickiest person on the planet and even I was able to find something to eat. They always have pizza, french fries, and a million other things. The buffets were huge and very expansive. The service was amazing. As soon as you finished your plate they cleaned it off the table and filled your drinks on a regular basis. The specialty restaraunts at the maya were great and also had a huge variety on their buffets which was great for me since I am so picky. Here is the only problems I saw with the restaurants. On some days certain specialty restaurants are closed. We decided that since we can use the specialty restaurants at the other resorts we would try the steak house at the del mar. Big mistake! I realized quickly why it cost less to stay at the other resorts in the complex. The Menu was the same but the buffet was tiny and basically had nothing on it. Pay a little extra and stay at the maya or at least the lindo. The grounds at the beach and the Del Mar were beautiful and maybe prettier than the Maya and Lindo with tons of wildlife. Being late semptember the resort was fairly quiet and dead and I was told that in spring and summer that it often takes 10 minutes to get a drink. We never had a line or even to wait for one person. The beach was awesome and the free snorkling and kayaking were fun. One hour is more than enough for kayaking and was told that no-one all year made it more than 45 minutes as it can be very tiring. The snorkling was great also with beautiful fish everywhere especially near the areas with rocks. This was the first time my wife and I had ever snorkeled at it was easy and fun and the gear was top notch. Although the website doesn't get very specific there is archery, pellet gun shooting, water polo, ping pong, volleyball, soccer, bocce ball, pool, bingo, foosball and water basketball and many other activities going on each day. The Star friends made it fun all the time! Go with the maya and walk to the other resorts to see the wildlife. FYI, the resort uses pesos but with take US dollars but the exchange rate in the gift shops is 10 pesos to every dollar instead of the 13-14 pesos for the real rate. The main lobby uses a 12 peso to one dollar rate. Prices at the resort are crazy high. 65 pesos for a can of pringles or $6.50 USD for pringles that you can buy anywhere for $1.29. Candy Bars were $4.50. Crazy high prices when you consider the average non professional mexican worker earns around $5-$10 per day.

How does the book now pay later with deposit work? what is the required deposit fee for a vacation priced around $1400 pp?5 answers

Used it but did not make a difference to me.
NUTNBUTBEACH
With my experience doing book now, pay later, we paid for half our trip up front and the second deposit was taken from my credit card account 7 days prior to leaving for my trip. If the vacation is $1400 per person and you have two people going, the required deposit would be $1400. If it were four people going on the trip, it would be $2800 and so on and so forth.
losiedosie
Per the terms of the deposit program, the airfare, taxes, travel insurance (optional) and the $25 non refundable deposit fee is due at the time a vacation is booked. The amount of the deposit does vary for each package. The remainder of the balance is due 21 days prior to departure and is automatically charged to the credit card on file.
MariaCC
They ask for about 40% down at time of reservation and then the remainder must be paid 3 weeks before departure.
dmdot
It worked out good for us, because we had a few commitments to handle before going, such as 80th birthday for my Mother and Father a week before the trip

Are there any units that sleep four. There are three adults and one child. Are there any villas?

nj
The standard room category we does not allow us to book 3 adults and 1 child. You would need to check directly with the resort as we are only able to book the standard room category.

Iberostar Paraiso Maya: A Work of Art
A magical place on earth may be on the picturesque shores of Playa Paraiso at Iberostar Paraiso Maya Resort. Arrive at this breathtaking resort filled with sparkling Mexican sunshine and start your all inclusive vacation with a cocktail from the lobby bar, which is an exact replica of the Chichen Itza Pyramid. Even the furniture is art at this resort, each piece carved from wood, brass, bronze or limestone. From the large brass vases to the giant harp with seashell strings, this is a mystical world of grandeur.
You'll find all of your island-getaway needs met at Iberostar Paraiso Maya with the most decadent pools (five, including one indoor) winding their way through the resort and then to the heavenly white sands of Playa Paraiso Beach. If the kids (or grown-ups) can't decide between the pool or beach, give 'em the best of both worlds at the Mayan palace-style wave pool (with a waterfall), or grab a tube and float along the lazy river.
Even thrill-seekers find enough activities at Iberostar Paraiso, with tours of the nearby ruins, archery practice, cycling and a shooting range. Or, if the island breeze has you feeling in need of quiet time, drop the kids off at Lucy's Miniclub where they can craft their version of the resort's seashell harp while you relax at Sensations Spa. A dip in the exquisite Turkish or Roman Baths will revitalize you so you can dance all night.
Iberostar Paraiso participates in a "dine around" program, which means your taste buds get to tango in all the sister hotels' restaurants and bars for limitless all inclusive options to taste test the world with Japanese, Cajun, Mexican and Italian cuisines.
And what better after a day of fun than to retire to a private suite tucked amid lush green gardens? The Iberostar Paraiso Beach Riviera Maya's unique accommodations are in quaint buildings that replicate a charming Mexican village, creating the perfect respite with all the attractions of the resort's main grounds just a short stroll away.
