Think before you pick this resort

This resort needs major work. For a majority of the trip, there was no hot water. When we asked the staff for hot water they said, "They are working on it". When we asked if it would be fixed soon they said while rolling their eyes at us, "They are working on it." The resort itself is not secure because anyone can access the resort and the balcony rooms do not lock. There is major paint needed and there was rust marks on the walls, furniture, and all door frames. The beds are firm and okay to sleep on. The cleaning service came every couple days. When we called for service more often, the front desk would argue with us and tell us the room was cleaned already. The food was expensive, three times the cost of a burger in the U.S. The resort is far from everything so you need a car or settle paying a twenty dollar cab ride anywhere. Another thing about the food is there are two major bars that don't work well with each other. So if you get one thing at one bar you cannot get it at another bar. The WIFI does work in the resort and half of the beach, so that is good. There is also a beach to the east of the resort that is a lot larger but still the guests have access to it. We had to find this beach on our own and we were sad it took us 6 days to find it. Pack bug repellent, because the mosquitos are relentless. If you go to this resort, rent a vehicle and plan to travel to better beaches. One last piece of information for this hotel has a Casino and a gym. These two are local hangouts for island residents. It appears there is a membership to this gym and its quite busy. We went in the Casino late one night and it didn't feel safe.

This place needs refurbishing

Our family is on day eight, of a nine day vacation here at the Curaçao Hilton. It has been a nice relaxing stay. The positives: the adult pool and beach are definitely the positives of this hotel. The staff is friendly and gracious. The kid pool has a cheap Walmart play structure for a slide, I was embarrassed for the hotel. Negatives: the rooms are in definite need of updating. The was rust or possibly blood on our lampshade. There was no hot water in the showers the last five days of our stay. The walls need repairing/repainting and there are cracked tiles in the room and balcony. The exterior of the hotel is in need of being repainted. There is missing paint and some of the siding or concrete is falling off. The hotel is not centrally located and you have to take taxis for any trips into town. The taxis aren't cheap. The food is overpriced and not very good. The only breakfast you can purchase is $21 a person. Hamburgers are $16 to $18. There are only two restaurants for dinner and expect to pay Hawaii prices for the food. For a family of three, with drinks, well over $200 for a meal. The bar food is a little less. The service is really spotty. Expect to get your own water and coffee while seated at the restaurant. There were some staff that was helpful but the majority don't have a firm rasp on customer service. There are no close by restaurants so you get sick of this greasy food, quick. The maid service was spotty. They either show up before 9am or at 430PM when you're returning from the beach. IM VERY SUPRISED THIS HOTEL HAS THE HILTON NAME!

Hilton Stay

This hotel needs updating and a good cleaning. The beach was amazing and very well kept. The staff was very nice. There is not much for entertainment or night life if that is what you want. Everyone was inside by 9pm each evening. The wifi didn't work on my phone or my husbands but our two daughters phones worked. There was no one that could assist in troubleshooting what the issue was. Overall, we wouldn't recommend based on what we like in a resort.

Lovely vacation but not a 4 star hotel

The Hilton Curaçao was nice although it did not meet our expectations of a Hilton Hotel, nor did it seem like the advertised 4 star ranking. Our room was pleasant and clean, but always had a bit of a musty smell. They seemed to be renovating and doing some work on the property which probably will be nice but wasn't quite to what I would have expected at a 4 star resort. The beach was small but well maintained and the pool was clean and well maintained. We went down to get a snack from the bar one night and had the most horrible and overpriced appetizer of chicken nuggets. We were so disappointed (and a little ill) so we did not eat at the hotel anymore. They seemed to have nightly dining events and several musical groups that played really well. Overall, we did enjoy our time in Curaçao but were not wowed and impressed with the resort.

What's to Love

Sitting on a peninsula, this resort has one of the best views on the island. Great beach with calm water make this a excellent property. Make sure you try the weekly BBQ at the hotel, great food and reasonably priced.

What We'd Change

Taxis can be expensive so you may want to rent a car, but get a good map as there really are not many road signs to direct you.

Why You Should Go

Some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Caribbean. Rent a car and drive to the north side of the island. It's beautiful also check out some of the small beaches on the west side and don't miss the restaurants and shops in Willemstad, the capital!
