Good bang for your buck - Honeymoon
My wife and went in not expecting much and were very happy with what we received. The hotel was nice and the food was good. It's by no means a grand buffet, but they change it up enough to make it good for a 5-7 day trip. The a la cart restaurants were very good as well. I would recommend the Brazilian as one of the best. We weren't able to get into the Japanese hibachi style restaurant, but that would be good as well. The shows each night were entertaining and just long enough for you sit down and enjoy, but not so long that they were boring. The service at the hotel at all levels was absolutely AMAZING. Drinks were served quickly and were tasty. We really enjoyed it and would go back again at one point in time.

OK Vacation but we can do better
We loved the location. It was near to everything we wanted to do. The beach was nice enough and it had great pools. Food was ok but we had the same dishes at most meals. The rooms were mostly clean just a bit aged with some minor issues.
The service was not good at the front desk, bell service and dining rooms. The front desk was rude on more than one occasion, bell service 2 hours late to pick up luggage and dining service mostly nonexistent (we some times didn't get drinks until almost finished and other times couldn't get refills at all (this was for cokes not anything difficult)
We will return to this area but will look for a smaller resort.

room issue upon arrival
!st room -No king bed as we had requested, also requested room close to my mother & brother. I unpacked only to find the toilet would not flush. They told us to move next door. I repacked moved next door only to find out there is no power in that room. I packed once again, they brought a golf truck - threw everything in there only to be taken 3 buildings away and told it was on the 3rd floor - we also requested ground floor when we booked again about 2 weeks before arrival then again when we arrived, So once again we were moved to a satisfactory room albeit still 2 buildings away from my family.
Pool bars were a little understaffed - Salvadore was fabulous but on his day off we waited almost an hour for a drink.
Other than these issues I noticed a little wear and tear, garbage at the side of the bridges and off the main paths etc. This was our 2nd time to Sirenis and noticabley declined a little.
We wanted to sign up for the VIP since this was our 2nd time but they had no forms in english, they assured us they would fill it out for us but we never heard anything else about it.
All said and done we enjoyed our stay and would perhaps go back in a few years.
We booked our trip 5 months in advance and were asked to be next to my sister and brother-in law at the time we booked. Upon our arrival we were clear across the resort from on another which is quite a hike. The desk clerk did change the room to one floor above us which we appreciated. The rooms smelled musty but were adequate in comfort. We were rarely given washcloths and had to call several times. Also they refused to stock more than 2 beers a day in the frig which never got really cold. All pools and bars other than the lobby bar closed at 6pm. which we were really annoyed about. The buffet was probably one of the worst of the all inclusive resorts we have stayed at. Nothing had any taste and the service had alot to be desired. All in all the grounds are nice but the resort is very spread out and didn't have that tropical feel in the buildings. The snorkeling was great but you could only have the snorkel equipment for one hour or you would be charged $20. We also were locked out of our room upon returning from a day away and wasted an hour getting new keys. Also, the lobby (bar) music was awful, sounded like elevator music which practically put you to sleep. Loved the Mayan Riviera, lots to do and the people are freindly but we will be staying somewhere else next time.

Does the Grand Sirenias Mayan Beach have a PADI dive shop or not4 answers

The Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach (1 of the 3-hotel complex) does have a small dive shop on the beach, which offers a variety of snorkeling/dive equipment and other excursion options, but if you're a hardcore diver, you may have to go off the property to find exactly what you're looking for.
DavidCC
Yes, and they are wonderful. My son is 12 y/o and got scuba certified on the trip.
n2brad4d
Yes
Curiouskitty13
yes it does have a PADI dive shop. We went on 3 dives and they did a good job.
srichards
I did notice an area to rent snorkel equipment and tons of people were snorkeling off the beach near some coral.

Does this resort have nightly entertainment?11 answers

donna
The resort advises that there is a nightly entertainment program for the guests. There is also a disco on property, and entrance and drinks are included in the all-inclusive package for the resort.
KristinCC
Yes. The resort had great nightly entertainment! I definitely recommend you don't miss a show. They had several Jamaican steel bands, Jamiacan dancers, a Jamaican professioal limbo guy, and much more! It was amazing!!
Anonymous
They have differenct themes everynight and at the Piano Bar they have something everynight but it doe not start until 11:00 pm.
DCgirl
yesn it does and it was mostly enjoyable, but the theater does not have enough seats and it is terribly hot
umpirerob
There is a nightly show. After the show the lobby bar closes at 11:00pm and if you want to after that you can go to the "disco" or Casino.
Roemac
Yes it does and also a disco
Curiouskitty13
Yes - they have nightly shows in a large theater. Usually some interactive games that include members from the audience or karoake - followed by a stage show with different themes each night. The entertainment starts around 8:30 and finishes between 10 and 10:30. Some shows are better than others - but they are all entertaining.
RivieraMayaAddict
Yes, not bad but we've seen better and it doesn't start until 9:30.
Serv
It does have a show every night but we found it difficult to hear clearly and it is extremely hot in the theater area. We chose to play cards most nights in the lobby area.
atty637
Yes it does but not of a very good quality.
srichards
Yes they do. Most shows are 60-90 minutes in length and rather enjoyable.

Is the beach rocky?10 answers
donna
The beach at this resort does tend to be a bit rocky, however it is a gorgeous beach. You may want to bring water shoes with you, just in case.
KristinCC
It wasn't at the Majestic Colonial.
Ilovesummer
No the beach is absolutely not rocky. The sand is hard and dark, not soft and white.
Roemac
no. Not at all. Sandy and you could see your feet wherever you swam.
cyndyq
There are some rocks off the shore because of the reef but it is a beautiful beach
Curiouskitty13
There are some rocks - but you can see them when you wade into the water. It is much less rocky than it was a few years ago when you had to wear water shoes. While we were there, we saw workers removing rocks from the water. It doesn't detract from the beach or swimming.
RivieraMayaAddict
Yes but that's what makes the snorkeling great. Main beach is not bad. Bring water shoes.
Serv
not really rocky, course sand and water shoes recommended
atty637
It is rocky in places but also has a sandy area.
srichards
There are some rocks, but for the most part the beach was full of soft white sand.

Hotel Description
Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Stunning Architecture and Family-Friendly Snorkelers' Paradise
Are you ready for the Mayan Riviera vacation of a lifetime? Located on a snorkel-ready stretch of beach, Grand Sirenis reminds guests of the ancient Mayans with its gorgeous architecture, explorable "cenotes" (natural sinkholes filled with groundwater) and actual Mayan ruins. With the largest coral reef in the Mayan Riviera just offshore, whether you're snorkeling with the kids or diving with the parrotfish, Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach doesn't disappoint.
This resort is all about finding what's right for you: swimming, snorkeling or diving off the beach or taking advantage of the three huge pools, two with swim-up bars for frosty margaritas. A separate, quiet pool is available for downtime with a book, and another is just for kids. A big hit with guests, a lazy river winds through the resort: hop on a float for a relaxing, worry-free trip. The ability to customize your vacation continues with 10 dining options and seven bars. From the hummus and dolma at Las Baracas to the Cajun/Creole jambalaya and gumbo at Bayou, something is sure to hit the spot. Then, after taking in a dance performance at the theatre, take the shuttle to the nightly disco for dancing through the night, and make sure to check out the Wednesday-night beach party with the family.
If you want to try out the all inclusive activities, just drop the kids off at the supervised kids' club and paddle out in a kayak, test out your aim with archery or work off that delicious food with Pilates. Had enough excitement and want to chill out? Grand Sirenis Spa is absolutely gorgeous with its outdoor views, purifying Turkish baths and authentic Temazcal area (sweat lodge).
After a long day indulging the senses, we recommend splurging on a Junior Suite Partial Ocean View guestroom with a king bed for couples or two doubles for families. The balcony is great for watching the waves, and each tasteful suite includes a stocked mini bar for a refreshing drink, day or night.
