Pleasant stay

Resort has a few kinks but overall I had a good experience. I stayed in the Platinum Riviera suite section, and I would recommend this upgrade if it's available and in your budget. Proximity to the beach, quiet rooms, no extra cost for room service, and private beach area make Platinum worth it. Chairs in the Platinum beach area are not so tightly packed as in the general section, and they were never all full. There's also waitress service in the Platinum section so you don't have to stand in the bar line. All of the food & bar servers I encountered were very warm and helpful. Oddly, the check-in staff and concierge staff in the Platinum section were not as great. When I walked through they rarely greeted me or made eye contact, and I just got the vibe that they were hoping I would not approach them for help. When I did need their help, they were fine, just not particularly enthusiastic. Size of the resort was good with me as I liked the exercise and seeing the iguanas and coatis. Shuttle seemed to run consistently at 15-minute intervals. I usually stayed near the beach for breakfast & lunch and only went "inland" to the main lobby areas at dinner time. Breakfast buffets were good, albeit repetitive. Dinner buffets were surprisingly good, UNLESS they were Mexican-themed, which was disappointing. There were some delicious Spanish dishes, seafoods, salads, and elaborate deserts at dinner. The meal that disappointed me was lunch at the beach or pool: beach lunch always included hamburgers and hotdogs, sometimes another meat or a salad, but was generally monotonous after the first 1-2 days. I tried the poolside Mexican taco stand once but the pork was oily and gristly and all the salsa containers were empty. The resort could really step up the variety and quantity of lunch food at the beach and pools, which is where most people want to be on a beautiful day! Platinum suite itself was very comfortable and maid/minibar service was excellent. I spent most of my time at the beach, but pools looked extensive and well-cared for. Beach was nice for swimming; you just had to watch out for rocks as you entered the water. I walked along the beaches both north and south of the resort and the Grand Princess' beach was equivalent to or better than those beaches. I wouldn't seek out this specific resort for a return visit, but would not hesitate to return if price and timing were right.

Excellent Trip!

This was my third time in Mexico and by far the most beautiful resort I've visited. The property was very well maintained and all of the staff went above and beyond to ensure excellent service. My only complaint is that the beach is a bit shaded (by palm trees) so it's difficult to find a good spot to tan. Make restaurant reservations in advance or you'll be restricted to the buffet (which is actually really good!)

Wonderful Vacation

My wife and had an absolutely fabulous time at the Grand Riviera Princess. The grounds are very lush with lots of palm trees and other tropical fauna. The property as a whole is kept spotless by the staff who are always willing to do whatever is possible to ensure everyone enjoys their stay.

Primo price - sucky service

While the hotel grounds seem very nice, the staff and the service are what really just kills this place. No one seems to know where anything is located and the desk staff are rude and entirely unhelpful. In the dining hall, expect mediocre food at best. The reserved dining options are better, but still don't expect anything resembling fine dining. Its one step above an Applebees or Chilis - don't let the tablecloths fool you! However, the wait staff were generally very nice and helpful. Overall - completely overpriced and under-serviced. Go somewhere else.

Grand Riviera Princess: All Suites Resort & Spa for Family-Friendly Fun

Give your family a break and head for Grand Riviera Princess All Suites Resort & Spa where 13 is your lucky number. Among other perks, 13 dining options feature chefs who take care of the work while you take care of yourself. Located on a palm-lined beach in the Mayan Riviera, the resort belongs to the Grand Riviera Princess complex and treats couples and families to 12 swimming pools and 13 bars.

Spend the day lounging under a palapa or Riviera Maya sunshine, or find your favorite spot at one of the 13 pools. When it's time to eat, let your cravings guide you through 13 dining options: kids love the teppanyaki show at Miso, and the fresh shrimp fajitas at La Hacienda are sizzling! Grab cones from the ice-cream parlor and check out the nightly entertainment at Princess Theatre. Want to catch the game at 5th Avenue Sports Bar or show off your moves at Areito Disco? Drop the kids off at the evening Mini Club, where video games and a kids' disco offer them fun, while you're free to have yours.

The fun keeps coming with all inclusive water sports: kayaking, windsurfing or snorkeling. With a Mini Club for children and Funtastic Teen's Club for older kids, you're free to take advantage of the Spa Princess. This full-service spa is home to an incredible water circuit divided into five zones: Asia for Roman baths, Europe for Finnish baths, Africa for Turkish baths, Oceania with an underwater massage pool, and the unbelievable America "polysensorial" room, where guests indulge in stimulations of smell, sight and sound.

The royal treatment continues at Grand Princess on the Riviera Maya; each suite offers elegant decor in spacious settings and fully stocked mini bars. We recommend the Jr. Suite Deluxe for families: it's big enough for everyone and the bathroom has a Jacuzzi. Couples love the adults-only Laguna Villa Suite which includes upgrades like a one-day free spa package, access to the Platinum Lounge, a private pool and reserved beach area!
